Anyone want to team to for Salmon Run? Just did the training, figured it'd be fun to get a GAF team instead of randoms.

I'd be up for voice chat too.

Anyone Salmon Running? Keep getting people who leave mid game.

I'm down, I'll add you. Get the dgaf fam together on Splatoon (;

how do you access the salmon run?

Press X in the square and "fast travel" to Grizzco. Or alternatively when you spawn walk straight ahead and then bear left and Grizzco is there, (to the left of where you find the main lobby for online play, or just past the sewer where you would go to hero mode).

I just realised I've read every single post in this thread....

Also wtf

Damn, thought I'd be higher. ;p

Anywho, I'll mess with the clock and report back then. xD

Been going through single player before I touch online and I'm stuck on the World 4 level 19. Fucking how do you do these damn grappling hook things? Is it easier with motion controls and they're punishing me for being a filthy degenerate using regular controls?

Finally played Salmon Run for the first time.

Pretty fun mode, but why Random guns? Do they feel it'd be too easy if people could just their blaster of choice?

That was one of the reasons they gave, as I recall. Plus it keeps you from not having a specific weapon type that you might need for certain boss salmonids.

In LAN play you can bring whatever, though.

I just added ya. Let's roll!

Sharing my code as well if anyone is keen on doing Salmon run. Right now I'm enjoying it more than turf war lol

That's the blaster level right? With the grappler staircase?
Took me lots of tries, but it was all about timing the shots, you shouldn't need to aim very much at all.

I like it as a design choice since it forces you you play with different weapons you might normally not pick, and forces you to work as a team.

Granted, the weapon selection today isn't a good mix, IMHO.

Got my wired adapter and first game was a communication error. Was about to lose my shit, but kept on and didn't have another one for 5-6 matches, so improvement. Bit shit, since it kills my gun streak, but you do what you have to do, I guess.

But I noticed something, too. Managed to get to rank, did several matches, no disconnects. Played a handful of Salmon Run matches, no disconnects (with the exception of a communication error . Went back to Regular to finish out to Level 11 and take a breather, got two disconnects in the few matches I played.

Like, that has to be some freak coincidence or something, right? They don't somehow Regular match different than Ranked and Salmon do they?

That's not a 69, that is an entirely different type of sexual position that is rather one sided for many people.

Yeah, terrible mix today, why I just said fuck it earlier. A roller and a brush? What the hell

For real though I miss the map. I still have to tell myself not to look straight down to get a peek at it.
Same for me...

Ok people I get it....

It's more fun to run ahead at the beginning of the match to engage the opposing team. The thing is that's not how you win the match in Turf War.
Well, it used to be on Port Maquerel at the very least (and to some extent in some others)

Granted, I've not seen a map where it seems to be the best strategy.

Oddly enough that's how I win almost all of my matches ,but I think it depends on who you have rushing. I try to get in their end as quick as possible ,harrass them and get them focused on chasing me ,while my teammates fill in from behind .

What drives me nuts is when people just throw themselves over and over at the middle instead of flanking and working back toward the enemies base.

The thing is, taking control of the middle is key and should be a priority. By controlling the middle, you are denying the opposition from gaining that territory while also making it easier for your team to push forward into their half if necessary (and preventing them from pushing into yours). The area in between can always be inked on your way back from being killed.

I do agree with you though that everyone rushing head on and potentially getting killed is not a smart strategy. Someone needs to flank, someone needs to hang back, etc.

I get the strategy behind it all but these randoms I get match with execute it wrong or flat out sucks. Because of this I use weapons I've never use in the first Splatoon, weapons that focuses on me spreading ink instead of weapons the focuses on applying pressure like the Splatter Shot pro or the Dualies.

Well, the roller works very well for the normal enemies.

And I dig the random weapons because it's a perfect way to learn other weapons while still enjoying your time.

The randomized weapon assignment per Wave is a great way to introduce more variety to everyone's game. I love it.

I've been really enjoying this game, but I have to say that I really can't stand the starfish mainstage map. It was in rotation before I went to bed and when I got on this morning. Think I've only managed to get like 2 or 3 wins on it

So can I not play ranked mode at all with my wife? Or with friends period? We had 2 Wii U systems and played ranked together all the time in the first game. We got 2 Switches for the same reason, but I don't see any options to play ranked with a friend at all. Hopefully I am just missing it?

Ok people I get it....

It's more fun to run ahead at the beginning of the match to engage the opposing team. The thing is that's not how you win the match in Turf War. Not only that's not how you win the match but some how and it happens EVERYTIME 3 and sometimes all 4 of the opposing team manages to get past you and not only am I trying to Splat to win but I'm taking on the ENTIRE of the opposing team while doing so. I sometimes score around 1,500 to 1,900 points on the losing side. It's insane.

Someone (RedFyn?) posted a really good perspective on Turf War already, but I'll try and paraphrase: you don't need to control 50.1% percent of the stage to win Turf War, you need to control 50.1% of the ink on the stage.

There are plenty of strategies to do this, but hanging back and painting your side is not one of them. Ideally, your leaving your side unpainted outside of lanes give your team a safe way to build meter if they can't safely get back to the fight via super jump or an unchallenged lane.

Of course there are exceptions - I used to conceed the tower on the Apartments in S1 to ink mobility paths and trap a team in an inkstrike before they turn the corner (worked 60 percent of the time, all the time) - but I'd say 9 times out of 10 get the center, ink smart paths engage from range, and punish base-painters with aggression because a trade is a win - especially when everyone coming back has no choice but to engage without specials.

I remember Melvin trying to tell me that the brush isnt good for splatting and you should use the grenades and the special for that instead

get the fuck out of my face melvin

Just completed the single player campaign. I really enjoyed it, and I liked how they introduced you to the major weapon types.

Before I waste my time, if I complete every level in Octo Valley with a particular weapon, will that weapon become available for purchase at Ammo Knights to be used outside of the single player campaign?

Sorry violent, I went to the switch home menu and apparently that caused an error, jump in again (god this is ridiculously cumbersome)

Reznor and Sushi you guys down?

Then you'll have to wait ages to find 3 other available pairs, and everyone else will also have to wait longer because the pool of available players for FFA matches would smaller. Why not just accept the game the way it is, gamers are such self-entitled douches sometimes...
Yikes.
