The Leftovers Season 2
This was enjoyable. I don't think it was the most amazing drama as others have been calling it, but it's definitely being overlooked due to it not being as immediately appealing as other shows (game of Thrones) and being more of a slow burn. Season 1 definitely had weaknesses it overcame at the end, first and foremost just how depressing the whole thing was. It's like going to a bar ready to have a good time or to talk about life and the person you're talking with is just crying and refusing to hear anything you say. Season 2 was more of a standard drama, it had plenty of happy moments, plenty of mystery, and a change of setting that was needed.
The shows attempt to have a foreboding supernatural event that encapsulates the day to day regular events is... Interesting, I mean exactly what I expected from the Lost guy. Like it's not quite fantasy, yet not quite grounded in reality either. Season 2 definitely kicked it up a notch, I can only assume season 3 will go even further as the final season.
The shows biggest strength is the performances. Justin Theroux absolutely kills it in the more emotional scenes. The actress who plays the daughter is also fantastic. The stand out is clearly Ann Dowd who at first I saw as a bargain bin Margo Martindale, but really sold her character.
Finishing up this maybe next week. I'll judge it as a whole package to see if it truly deserves the title of the best drama you aren't watching many want to give it, but at the very least I have not regretted my time with it.

See I don't know how to feel about this. Loved the tv show and it ended in a spot I was happy about. Don't know if I really need more of a resolution after the film, and this is an alternate timeline interquel as far as I'm aware so even less of a reason to get hyped.

Usually a protagonist in Kazuma's spot would turn to the dark side and hate everyone's guts lol. Seeing how everyone was against him including his teammates. Poor Kazuma just wanted to be a cool adventurer.
The lie detector test was hilarious. I swear Aqua is the worst, she's such a shitty Goddess lmao. I still like her though. Good save by Darkness, but she's still a masochist.
Also Meguin and her explosion magic.

Yes and yes. Though some of the volumes (7, 11 and 13 to be exact) contain multiple side stories that don't exactly move the story forward, yet are very enjoyable on their own right. The one containing the merchant beginnings of Even Bolan is particularly great. And the stuff from volume 3, while not terribly important or anything, is still part of the main story, with returning elements and characters later on.

So I found this article by AnimeNewsNetwork about The Ancient Magus Bride detailing the work the animation staff went through to put out these first 3 episodes of the series.

I was correct to say this anime was a passion project for WIT. I didn't realize Mag Garden the publisher for the manga was apart of Production IG. Which makes sense that the production committee for the anime is Production IG and WIT. So it seems like they are putting good money into the anime.
It looks like they are ahead of schedule regarding the anime and it seems like they want to get at least 12 episodes done before the premiere. But man it seems like they went through hell getting those 3 episodes done for the AnimeExpo premiere. I actually feel bad, but no wonder the 3 episodes looked real good and consistent. They worked extremely hard on it.
I am quite interested in what they said on the reason why they were interested in adapting this series. It looks like Producer Wada wanted a fantasy property like Fullmetal Alchemist and Harry Potter. So I can definitely see why he may have been interested in Ancient Magus Bride.
The way they talk about on how they are adapting the manga is making me optimistic. How the OVAs were more about the World while the TV series will be more about the characters. There comment about Chise's development and growing as well as making the world beautiful through the background art is a good start. I also didn't realize Yusuke Takada is working on the background art.
Honestly though I really hope they take care of themselves because it seems like they are being extremely rough on their bodies. I knew the anime industry was rough, but it really sucks when you hear it from the staff themselves.

I'm in the same boat. I liked the story a lot, but it feels so finished. It had a beginning, drama in the middle, a climax in the end that felt earned, end. The End.
Now because it was pretty successful, all the rest of materials they are doing like ovas, and side movies and sequels, and what if stories... it's all so extraneous, and a bit exploitative.

I really like Reg's extendable arms gimmick. Seems like a fun traversal tool. Though I've been wondering just how long those things can get. Seems really risky to just drop off ledges like they do when exceeding the max length could put them in a dangerous situation. Firing off the other arm would require Riko to hold on to him just by herself. Oh well, I suppose Reg could simply retract and they take another route now that I think about it.
Habo seemed to move unbelievably quickly to the point where I was wondering if he's using some special equipment, maybe abyss artifacts, to speed up his chase. But I suppose it's nothing of the sort and it's a combination of him being an experienced black whistle and the show simply skipping ahead in time a bit.
So leader and Habo know about their plan and are actually supportive of it. I suppose they know more about the abyss than we were shown so far and they've got their reasons for letting them go, even it appears to be one hell of a suicide mission.

If the instructions were only to use it nearby Gai, then it could possibly be a listening device, explosive device, or biological weapon. Ignoring Inori's antics at this point seems to be for the best.
Shu ceremoniously greets someone in a wheelchair for the first time by pointing out their disability. Having the rug pulled out from under Shu over and over is amusing; however, the show is at its best when it focuses on action.

If they can identify people through their retinas, how did Gai make it past security screening? And couldn't they have bothered confirming that Shu's mother actually hired that lawyer? Why is this special ward next to a maximum-security prison? This is obviously some sort of experiment facility.

I was talking about that with the person I watched it. We both said "they are kids!"
It's almost as if the series consider them on the verge of adulthood, and this 'final test' is to graduate into it, being real relic raiders then, and leave the orphanage. In that case, once they reach that stage, they are already responsible enough and have the freedom into trying something as hard as going to the bottom of the abyss, or die trying, if they really want. It's their business.
The little problem here is that they are children in all their actions and personalities shown, and even the art style reminds us strongly.

Untrue. A lot of the digital effects can and will be produced in higher resolutions. Gundam Thunderbolt is the other example we have so far of UHD anime and that's done in 4K.

That was insanely cute. Virgin Soul is like they thought that the dance scene of the first season was very good and they decided to make a season that focuses on that. We had like 3-4 episodes that are expanded scenes of Charioce and Nina, and honestly, I can't have enough of this. Charioce x Nina is the best ship, though I feel that it is kind of fucked up and hypocritical to their allies. Also, it's pretty much sealed that Charioce will be victimized. Let's forget the double genocide he committed.
