So sometime in the late 1990s/early 2000s Japan made it illegal to show minors (under 20) drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes and thus the JP broadcast had the black censor bars over Jotaro lighting up and smoking.

Also, if you don't like part 3's tone or direction, don't worry, because part 4 will completely switch up the tone again. That's the nice thing about Jojo.
 
Araki actually travelled across Asia as research for Part 3, so there's a lot of trivia, lol

...I forgot about fucking hot cola. That's a real thing, somehow.
 
But isn't this *the* Part though?
Part 3 is iconic because it made Jojo popular and introduces stands, and the concept of technique-based powers to shounen in general, but it's not what all Jojo is like. Every part is completely different in tone, theme, and story. It's like an anthology series.
