Controversial Bodybuilder and Youtuber Rich Piana Dies After Medical Emergency

odybuilding sensation Rich Piana has died ... nearly 3 weeks after going into a coma following a medical emergency at his Florida apartment, TMZ Sports has learned.
We broke the story ... Piana collapsed while getting a haircut on August 7. His girlfriend, Chanel, tried to revive him but was unable to wake him.
Piana was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was placed into a medically induced coma -- but was unable to recover.
The District Six Medical Examiner in Florida confirms Piana passed away early Friday morning at the hospital.
A preliminary search at his apartment revealed more than 20 bottles of steroids and a white powder -- but it's unclear if the substances played a role in his death.
46-year-old Piana competed and won several bodybuilding competitions over the years -- including Mr. California -- and became an Instagram sensation, racking up more than 1 million followers.

Steroids destroy your body. Someone I knew took steroids just didn't wake up anymore a few weeks ago. It's a shame people are so short-sighted.

Well, he did massive doses along with stuff like insulin and HGH. Not to mention he did party drugs too.

Surprised he reached 45 honestly.

Though I guess what he did back in the day was weaker and he did less than what guys do now.
 
Guy was an idiot. There is a responsible way to do this and an irresponsible way. He was an absolute idiot and his advice will probably harm a lot of his followers.

I'm not too familiar with him but I'm assuming the controversy was surrounding his obvious steroid usage. I hope his family and friends can find comfort during this hard time.

I genuinely wonder if that white powder is nothing more than creatine.

Guess those sick gainzz came at a cost, very sad turn of events. I've been passively aware of him for a while, I hope this will open up a conversation about where the limits of body building culture is. This guy had a huge amount of followers and I'm willing to be at least a modest subset of them are likely using whatever heinous shit did him in.

But this is assuming it was the cocaine combined with his other drugs that did him in rather than just the coke alone.

Steroids are a health problem no country is really paying the due attention, I have a friend that I fear for, the dude is using this stuff a lot but he won't quite he has a goal of growing muscle.

Rich seems like has a body dysmorphia and takes a ton of steroids to achieve, which takes a toll to his body.

Most deaths due to cocaine are because of heart complications. Steroids enlarge the heart.
 
I'm surprised people aren't mentioning the injectables in his body. Most of the bulk on his body looks to be that injected shit.
