Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Gameplay/Pre-Launch Discussion Thread

If someone made some adjustments to your poster, then it can easily turned into a statement for Gene too.

I actually believe that both characters would make great fighting characters for versus games, so I think it's pretty silly for people to argue on subject of which one to get in when both could get in and have completely different movesets.
God Hand is a great game though.

I'd call Michael Bay's Transformers bland, and for me Asura's Wrath is the video game equivalent.
Transformers movies sucked, while I felt that Asura's Wrath was very self aware. Michael Bay took his stuff seriously despite everyone else's opinion of it, the creators of Asura's Wrath just wanted things to be as ridiculous as possible.

Also, I dunno why it always ends up being Asura vs Gene.

Everything can be turned into a statement about anything with some adjustments tho. Not saying much.

What the fuck is this entire sentence.

I never liked TTGL.

I dunno man. IGN said Imagine Babies was better.

Yah don't see it either he has a cool design and all, but Gene is da god. His move list is insane in God Hand and a homage for kung fu movie addicts (and the comedy elements, roulettes, etc). Not to mention the game is one of the best 3d brawlers ever made. So calling Gene vanilla seems ignorant. Gene would definitely be a good rival for Iron Fist too...

Posting some Mike Kob God Hand videos, because he's the best I've seen at the game:

Holy crap, those videos man. Poetry in motion.

Intent is one thing, but I get similar feelings from the in my opinion empty spectacles of Transformers and Asura's Wrath.

I didn't mean to start a Asura vs. Gene thing. I just took exception to Gene being called vanilla over Asura.

I'm a peaceful being with no desire for strife in his heart.

That's ok, its just that the notion of you finding it boring. Which is also ok, i'm just messing with you. Its just I've never heard those two series mentioned at the same time in the same sentence and then being called boring.

Ah. It's okay. I'm a bit foggy bc of the weather and I struggle to understand specific comments sometimes.

I can sort of understand that. Stuff like TTGL and Asura's Wrath's just never been my thing, try as I might.

It's al about character potential. It doesn't matter if he or she was in game you liked or disliked.

It does for me personally. I usually have to like the game and the character in order to want the character in a fighting game.

God Hand is a great game though.

I can't say anything since I haven't play the game yet but my point is people would say stuffs even people wouldn't agree with.

Everything can be turned into a statement about anything with some adjustments tho. Not saying much.

Pretty much.

This. Sometime I don't really care about how games performed however at long they could draw so much potential from the game to become playable fighter that would stand out. That's what make MVC fun to speculate. Just like Smash Bros.

I doubt Gene will ever make it in the game tbh which saddens me.

I think he still have a shot tho. I still do.

What character potential does Gene not have? He has like 100 regular moves (and 20ish roulettes). He represents an insane amount of fighting styles and does it stylishly. Not to mention he has some wacky humor to moves too like ball buster, dragon kick, poke of god, has a one inch punch (guess not really comedy), spanking, and so forth. Here's a video of all his roullette moves.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1beb37nGHw

There's a lot in the game developers could easily build off and more (like Dante in MvC3). If Gene was in this game he would have more moves than MvC3 Dante (if they wanted to that is).

I mean comparing characters is one thing but there is a cavernous gap between Asura's Wrath and God Hand as games.

God Hand is a seminal action game that separates itself from the DMC clones (DMC, NG, Bayo, GoW) and is a true 3D adaptation of the brawler/beat em up genre of the SNES/Genesis/arcade era. Except that the game goes further beyond and instills itself with a legitimately fresh, unique game play style that is packing with ideas still not seen in other action games to this day. This on top of having ridiculous swagger, hype and meme worthy moments.

Asura's Wrath is a rental game you get from Redbox for $1 and return it the next day because that's all that it is actually worth (and how long it will take you to "beat" it). It's an interactive anime that you can also watch on Youtube and get 90% of the experience. Then they have the audacity to lock the actual ending behind a paywall for some god awful reason.

As far as character go, I think they are very different type of characters (aside from having God powers which just means they are super heroes essentially) especially when it comes to fighting game archetypes. Asura is more like an aggressive grappler with some god quirks. He's more like a Necalli type character if they put him in a Marvel game and then Marveled him up. Gene is like the Dante of martial arts with some god quirks and like 20 supers. They both deserve to be in the game because they fit the theme of the VS series... super heroes/villains from different universes going at it.

If they put Gene in the game then they should just give him one input for a super that trigger his Super Roulette and you can just choose which super you want. That way they can have like 20 supers in the game for him like Dante has like 40+ special moves, which Gene should have also.

My point was that one character shouldn't be included over the other all cuz he was in a "better" game. It was redundant when reboot Spencer got announced.

Real talk, Bionic Commando was ok. I just hate reboot Spencer's design.

Still holding out some hope for Gene in MvC: Infinite, crazier things have happened. And yes he has a ton of moves, but they could just translate some of his best and more iconic normals and easy to translate roulette moves such as God Stomp, Kung Fu Samba, Home Run God, Double Shaolin; instead of translating all of his moves. Just give me the around the amount of moves Dante has and we're good.

2009's Bionic Commando was not a reboot. Why do people keep calling it a reboot? It's a sequel to the actual reboot that everyone liked, Bionic Commando Rearmed!

Brainstorming things to put into my MVCI app. Obviously basic character and system info should be there. I want it to be targeted towards new players (for now that's everyone) with the option of offering something for those with more experience. Keeping up to date on optimal combos could be difficult so I might include a list of combo videos pulled from YouTube.

I thought of having some random Marvel and Capcom trivia pop up. Maybe even quizzes on move properties or other useful info. I tend to approach projects as an opportunity to teach the user something.

Even tho I agree with Rashidooooooo belongs in Marvel, I'm surprised Neccali isn't suggested more often, he was basically already a Marvel character in both moves and looks.

I guess people really didn't like him.

I like Neccali :(

Rashid & Menat are kinda top priority for SFV representation for me personally.

Gene should have only one hyper command, and it should be the Roulette in its entirety.

well, you could give them few basic BnBs enough to force them to practice in the training room, and also you should set up some kind of tutorials to teach them how to play the game and teach them the importance of team synergy.

I noticed that people always have issues to build their team synergy when they are new at the game. Like MVC3, UMVC3 and relaunch of UMVC3 for PS4/PC/XB1.

You could ask Dahbomb to help you out with some stuffs to crack down so newcomers could learn how to play the game easier.

Good Luck on your project.

Gaming-based Marvel and Capcom trivia would be the best. Especially if it can connect the current cast to MvC3.

Make sure to talk about how Nova is replacing Magneto as a function.

We don't need more jobbers.

I find it strange how many ppl are posting in that "what platform are you buying marvel I'm that I've never seen post in these.

Then again these used to be much more savage and troll-y and have mellowed down substantially lately, I guess some folk cba with that.

I'll probably have some level of combo information on there, it's just one of the hardest things to keep relevant especially at the beginning of the game when all the best combos are just being figured out.

If I get deep enough into a strategy and advice section I may non-ironically end up talking about the characters as functional archetypes.

It's probably because those people are interested in the game but not at the level that a lot of us in here are lol. There isn't a whole lot to discuss atm until we get the game in our hands since we know the full roster now and it's merely a waiting game at this point. I haven't been checking this thread or posting that much either, I'm just ready for release date to come already ugh. With that said, given fan demand they really should put Gene in :(.

Not before Jin, baby.

buying the game is less interest than...not buying the game (as some here have said they are not doing)? :o

What? Lol. My point is that there are people in here discussing possible character and team strategies (good shit, dahbomb), their future dlc picks and basically everything else fighting game fans would discuss. Some of the people in the other thread saying what platform they're getting it on but not posting here probably just aren't as invested in it enough to discuss these things because they're probably casual players. Yeah you get your occasional shit poster but I bet even some of the complainers pick this up on day 1 lol.

Holy shit at Spencer's, like what? Terrible.

The Main thing for Spencer's is a supposed callback to the end of the game where use uses the grenade in a similar fashion. That said though, it really could have been executed better, or at the very least, they could have done something extra to make him look like a badass (rather than confirming people's hate for the character).

On the topic of the Level 3s
Yeah... Hulk's was rather underwhelming to watch...
At least with Ghost Rider, it looks just a touch better when you don't have the Infinity Storm active. But it is still an underwhelming level 3 if he just stares at you. Make me wish that you could have had Nicolas Cage giving you one of those faces so that you really felt uneasy about being stared at.

At least for the good chunk of the "New Level 3s" some were pretty entertaining like Frank's Photo op.

Also, I retract my earlier statement. Dormammu's new voice is just as bad as Ghost Rider's after that terrible performance for Dark Dimension.

really like the look of the beam in Iron Avenger

I think one of the best things you can do in the app (when we have enough meta knowledge about the game) is which stones work best with which characters.

In the Stone information menu, you should always have a list of characters that work well with that stone. That is very useful information for new players. I am sure we are going to get a lot of questions like "I like X and Y characters but don't know which stone to use with the?"

There could also be a section on commonly used teams with a brief explanation of why they work, pros and cons.

At the same time, in each character's section you should have best pairings and stones for that individual character. These can and should be more than one so people can mix and match as they see fit.

Example:

When you click on Strider, it should have all the relevant information on him (frame data, how to use his moves, his game plan, his role on a team, sample combos) and then it should have his best partners and stones.

Best Partners (this is hypothetical don't copy this stuff):

Dr Strange
Arthur
Iron Man
Megaman X
Ultron

Best Stones (in order):

Power
Reality
Mind

Also you have to explain WHY these pairings work.

Power: Strider is a heavy rushdown character with mix ups and thus always wants to be in the opponents face especially with Orbs activated. Power Stone's Storm ability negates push block which allows Strider to stick to his target and pressure them into submission. The damage boost is very nice for him as well as he isn't exactly a hard hitter by default.

I wonder how people would feel about this line-up for 2018.

Doctor Doom, Wolverine, Star-Lord, Ms. Marvel, Green Goblin

CapCom, Lady, Vergil, Asura, Nina

I'm aware that it's a fake leak but I'm curious about people's opinions. I just want to gauge what would make people happy with the DLC.

Get rid of Star-Lord for Magneto.

This is definitely some stuff I'll be looking to add on down the road. I'd be hesitant to make any team or Stone combination recommendations before even having hands on with the game, so for the initial release (I'm shooting for it to be ready around 9/19) I'll mostly just have standard info for characters like movelists. I may look at adding additional text for moves since special properties and the actual nature of a move is often left out. Like, was there anything in UMVC3 to tell you that Firebrand had an unblockable move? So it will be useful to have more complete information.

Stuff like Ghost Rider's penance stare is so weird because, they are giving these old chrcters new animations and shit for level 3s (Nova, Cap, Spencer, Spidey, Frank off the top of my head) so its not like Penance Stare is to cut corners / save money or whatever right?

Someone thought that looked good :p
