Knew this guy was on some bullshit since his IGN days. Being a tea partier doesn't help either.

I don't think this is true? At least among these relatively high profile cases of people leaving established games media to pursue their own thing, most trend upward over time. Jim Sterling started at $10k in May of 2015 and is at $12k as of today. What's Good Games started at $5 at the beginning of June and has risen about 10% since then. Easy Allies has jumped up $10k in monthly pledges since their launch. No Clip is up $3k. Friends at the Table is relatively new to Patreon but they've steadily increased since their launch in July. In fact, the only cases I can find that fit the Colin Moriarty mold that have either lost Patreon subscribers/money over time are Drew Scanlon's Cloth Map (which does not have a consistent release schedule which I imagine hurts regular contributions), Kinda Funny (which interestingly has also hidden their dollar count), and Colin himself.

Yeah, that's the thing: people like Moriarty are in love with "facts," not necessarily facts. A "fact" defines itself not by its basis in objective reality, but by how subversive it is of progressing ideology. Invoking a "fact" resembles objectivity not in the sense that it reflects the strength of your evidence or critical thought, but in the sense that it reflects your willingness to question so-called leftist dogma.

Maybe that's why the Moriartys and Google Memo Guys of the world are so boring to listen to. They're "fact" people who view themselves as paragons of objectivity, as the inheritors of Western intellectual tradition, and go out of their way to speak with a certain didactic dryness. However, they're actually not very good at any of those things, so they end up trading in a form of iconoclasm that often times manages to feel consciously offensive and jarringly shallow at the same time.

Once the shtick becomes transparent, and it quickly does, you aren't left with much to work with.
 
Yeah there's certainly no racism against Asians, that's why I've heard the word "gook" more than any other racial slur growing up in a town full of Hmong immigrants, why people protested busing practices here in the early 90s, why the idea I ate lunch at a Hmong friend's house freaked out my mom when I was a kid.
 
Aside from his drop in subscribers and money, if you go look at his channel views, there's literally no growth there. For the past two months his videos get around 3xk views a piece. There have been some during the period that go 40k+, but it's actually far more common for them to be sub-30. He's been doing this for half a year and he's not appealing to anyone but those that went with him after the whole KF incident.

He mustve read some small tidbit from reddit abkut this and thought he cracked a code. He then felt the need to let everyone else see the light with this new discovery. What in the actual fuck is he talking about? There are sucessful african americans in this country, they are still hated by white supremists and asian americans are discriminated as well. At my job our pharmacist is an asian and when he woukd make pages I would hear some of the workers make fun of his accent. Really wish I would have told them off back then. Did this guy just read a comment and solidify this wasnfact? Did he even talk to some "sucessful" asian americans before coming to this conclusion?
 
He's a very strange man. I never really listened to Beyond much, but I enjoyed most of his and Gregs content on IGN. I was in at the ground level for Kinda Funny and loved it at first, but little by little Colin just wore away my enthusiasm to the point where I was just pressing the 'skip 15s' button every time he started a rant (which was a lot). His comments on GAF were shocking and then he just start outright lying about things. He clearly employs some impressive mental gymnastics to convince himself that he's never wrong, all while trying to give off the impression that he's patient and considers all sides of an argument.

Have they recovered from this? I'm assuming they have not as I have noticed a lot more ads in their content nowadays. They really deserve to be doing better than when Colin was there, the new format is fantastic and they don't have him dragging down the conversation with his overly negative regurgitated comments.

I'm not sure as they turned off tracking (and I don't really keep track) they seem to be doing fie so I don't think it's really something to worry about.

In all honesty they're better off not having Colin's followers anyways.

Video for Fallout 4, mentioned he was "not a monogamous guy, nor am I a straight one either."

Probably lost a load of support from one set of people, but gained it from others.

He also covered "Tranny Gladiator" and wanted them to change the name or something, big "SJW CAAAWAWNSSSPPIRACY" and he made no bones about why it was offensive.

They've hired more staff and seem to be thriving in their studio so that's a pretty good indication.

Also Patreon is not their sole revenue stream. I've seen Greg on the TVs in Gamestop doing promotional stuff, so they've got multiple ways of making money (merch, hosting gigs, etc.)
 
If racism and white supremacy wasn't real there's no way making videos as shit as his ones would earn you a quarter or half a million dollars per year.

Man, this guy is a fucking idiot who seemingly lacks the ability to empathize with anyone different to himself. I suppose a lack of empathy goes hand in hand with claiming to be a Libertarian.

Does he seriously believe that "Asians" have it better in America than whites? I bet he does...
