Jesus Christ Trump.
Did he not think it was a good idea to have a few practise runs at delivering the speech to make sure he understood what was in it?
People have died for fuck's sake, put some fucking effort in. Don't sound like someone just dragged you off a golf course and told you, "Read this!".

KTNV: they are really peppering his the shooters brother. Guy is really dumbfounded. Did say he didn't think he had guns or that he had no military background

Just woke up to the news.. saw some video. My thoughts are prayers are with everyone. My heart sank reading the news and watching what happened.

CNN had somebody on saying "you couldn't have asked for any more from a president", in regards to Trump's speech.

Am.. I missing something? This is NOTHING like how Obama would address people after a tragedy. His addresses are devoid of emotion or empathy. It wasn't horrible, no, but it was hardly passable. Man I can't stand CNN sometimes.

With Sandy Hook, 20 children were shot in their school and nothing happened. That was when I realized how badly we needed gun control and how badly we have already lost the fight when nothing happened after that. Nothing will happen here.

The only thing that will get some sort of gun control passed is if you have a movement of black people promoting and marching around with guns like all those "2nd Amendment First" open carry people.

Or women.

"I can't believe this country hates women more than it loves guns."

"Thoughts and prayers."

It’s the volume of people calling that is important (which is why it’s important to call). Your message should sound personal and coherent because it should sound like it matters to you, but it’s still just going to be logged as “for” or “against” an issue. She’s not going to pass on your message verbatim.

So should I not bother coming up with anything and just call to state: "hey I'm for gun control, thanks".

This is a serious question, not being flippant.

Police obviously going to the family.

ISIS nonsense. They'll claim anything. There has been no motive uncovered from searching yet.

Oh yes i person on cnn

Yes i can

At this point, you just need to hope that you're not the victim of a mass shooting. That's all we can fucking get.

Pretty much. It's practically a natural phenomenon at this point. When it inevitably happens again, just hope you and anyone you know aren't there. It's ridiculous.

How the fuck can you shoot and injure 400+ and kill 50+? What weapon was he using?

This is fucking insane. Even by your (US mass shootings) standards. I am having a hard time wrapping my brain around this. O.O

I'm honestly shocked at how low the body counts are in most mass shootings. It seems like it would be really easy assuming you had a lot of ammunition.

This has to lead to gun control right?

Of course not. Any threat to taking any kind of weapons away means trampling on the 2nd amendment, regardless of how logical the reasoning. Do people really need semi-automatic rifles? No. Should there be harsher background checks? Yes. Should we keep guns out of the hands of felons convicted of violent crimes and those with mental disabilities? Yes.

...But the 2nd amendment blah blah blah blah freedom patriotism. It's the same cycle all over again. Mass shootings like this will continue until actual gun legislation is enacted. Until, continue to watch the unfolding massacre, because it's not going to stop.

Dude was probably full of sedatives so he wouldn't ramble mid-speech.

Trump didn't run for office to be the "consoler in chief", he's literally not built for this.

After hearinng audio from the attack... I just cannot fathom what legal or moral justification there is for owning a gun that fires bullets so rapidly. It's absurd.

Yes but generally it's not possible to check out. In this case, if they don't find anything indicating that he did convert, they will loose a lot of credibility for potential followers.
I doubt they'll lose any credibility, they're intentionally lying to spread fear and misinformation. Which perfectly serves their purpose.

I think America is just completely fucked. Even fully banning guns won't stop this. There's 300 MILLION guns in the US. You simply can't get rid of that. As long as there's that many, people will easily be able to access guns regardless of the law.

Yeah but it's worth trying at least. There are illegal arms markets everywhere but you don't see mass shootings like you do in the US

It would matter for their followers if they start claiming false attacks. Before, it was impossible to check some of the attacks. But in this case, we will know pretty soon.

Serious question though, does terrorism require a motive or an ideology or an agenda to push. Does a random act of violence count as terrorism?

Yes, political, religious or ideological goals.

What is terrorism?

Terrorist groups use violence and threats of violence to publicise their causes and as a means to achieve their goals. They often aim to influence or exert pressure on governments and government policies but reject democratic processes, or even democracy itself.

International terrorism

International terrorism from groups such as the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Al Qaida present a threat from many others. They hold territory in places without functioning governments, making it easier for them to train recruits and plan complex, sophisticated attacks. Drawing on extreme interpretations of Islam to justify their actions, these groups often have the desire and capability to direct terrorist attacks against the West, and to inspire those already living there to carry out attacks of their own.

Domestic extremism

Domestic extremism mainly refers to individuals or groups that carry out criminal acts in pursuit of a larger agenda, such as "right-wing extremists". They may seek to change legislation or influence domestic policy and try to achieve this outside of the normal democratic process. For the most part, they pose a threat to public order but not to national security and are investigated by the police, not MI5.

At this point, you just need to hope that you're not the victim of a mass shooting. That's all we can fucking get. Wrong place, wrong time.

So true. It's both scary and sad that this is the reality we live in. My wife has been in or near 3 shootings and I stress about it regularly.

No end in sight either.

It was supposedly a semi-automatic rifle illegally modified to go full-auto. I don't really know much about these things, but Google seems to suggest it's quite an easy conversion.
