Nioh coming to Steam on November 7, Nioh Complete for PS4 same day

"The PC version will include two visual presentation modes: Action Mode, which aims for a stable 60 fps frame rate, and Movie Mode, a “cinematic” option with a 4K display resolution. Koei Tecmo's note to press suggests you can't deviate from either of these two modes, no matter how powerful your PC."

LOL are you fucking kidding me?

Koei Tecmo

Oh. Right. Guess I will not be bothering with this one then.

This game is demanding as hell. This game drops to 720p on the base PS4. It uses dynamic resolution scaling on both Cinematic (30fps) and Action modes (60fps). I wonder if there is the third mode Cinematic variable mode (Locked Resolution Variable Framerate mode) like on PS4/PS4Pro.

I believe this is an overreaction from GAF, which I also got caught up in as well. We need some clarification on setting the resolution independent of modes. I don't see why you can't set a base resolution for the game separate of the Cinematic or Action modes. (ex. 1080p with Action Mode).

For an idea on how demanding this game is, check out this Digital Foundry analysis of both base PS4 and Pro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUFGpzu8Mss

Guys, Steam hard drive requirements are NOT the same as final install size. It'll probably come in around the high 50s once the download and install are completed.

So it seems it's a direct console port with no extra graphical options. You have to choose between 4k and 60 but not both? Uh.....well um....I will be skipping this.

Koei Tecmo being Koei Tecmo...

Lazy port aside, the important thing is it's on the PC.

It wouldn't surprise me if modders found a way to unlock the framerate and resolution to whatever you want it to be within a week of release anyway.

Bad PC doesn't matter so long as I get to play the game. I would take PS4 graphics.

Love this shit too much.

Hmmm.

On one hand, it's Nioh, and that's amazing

On the other hand, it's a Koei Tecmo PC port, and those tend to...not be amazing.

Brace yourself for an inevitable bad port guys, it is K-T after all. I am expecting something barely functioning with crashes on a lot of hardware setups.

Even if the port turns out abysmal(which it won't), I'm sure the PC modding community will make it decent. No worried that much.
Still excited for the PC port.

Did not expect this at all, I think it was published by Sony in NA so I gave up all hope that it was ever going to any other platforms. Already bought it for PS4, but I haven't bought the DLC so I might double dip if it eventually goes on sale.

Phew. Good thing I waited. I hope for proper 144hz support
But it‘s Koei Tecmo ... so I expect nothing and will be disappointed.

For this type of game, PC is half the usebase now. This will definitely help Koi's bottomline and hopefully bring about a Nioh 2 a bit quicker. Glad it's getting into more hands.

Edit: Now the port begging as go down the "Console Exclusive" rabbit hole for another 10-20 pages lol.

Resolution unlock is one thing, but there can be a whole host of issues with unlocking framerates. It's not some trivial thing you can just unlock and expect everything to work.

Game gets repetitive half way through, beware...also the multiplayer functionality is not even close to on par with From Software's titles..dont' expect to play this with your buddy

I guess it`s not really surprising that Nioh is getting a PC release:

Those signs have been notoriously inaccurate sometimes (like Uncharted being listed as a console exclusive). But regardless, I think most third party exclusives (non-Sony IPs) even if there is a deal, are candidates for PC ports since Sony seemingly doesn't care about that. It's really just up to the devs at that point.
