Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition: Free update arcade mode & more; $40 game+DLC bundle

Wait......so if I bought the original game, I get S1 and S2 DLC characters for free?
No.

The "Arcade Edition" features like Arcade Mode, Extra Battle, new V-Triggers, etc. will be a free update.

The DLC characters remain DLC characters, can be bought with FM, Season Passes or the 2017 Deluxe Edition.

The new "Arcade Edition" package is just a GOTY edition for SFV with the S1 and S2 season pass characters included.

This game is like MGS:4 on PS3, Xbox owners kept wishing for it and asking until the very end on the console life cycle despite being told numerous time that SONY had a deal for it

If he truly knew the remaining four, why not leak those too?
There's still time. He doesn't post on EventHubs often. The only reason he confirmed Sagat and Sakura was because they were a part of that six character "leak" he wanted to debunk.

No, he didn't.

No you do not.
On the one hand, I ain't no shill. And my avatar is an abomination.

On the other, you did get my name right.....
I mean, it was supposed to be a joke, loosegoose

I do hope Oro makes it in. He's been teased enough

I’m actually starting to ask myself how could capcom take two years to release an arcade mode when its basically been there since the beginning of fighting games.

This looks like the arcade edition of SFV was rushed after the succesful announcement of Dragon Ball fighters Z, and they want to keep themselves relevant before people go deeper on Dragon Ball.

As an owner of Collector’s edition SFV day one, this feels like we were used as early backers of the final game.

To be fair, he specifically said that Viper, Oro, Necro, & Q weren't in Season 3. That's not to say that we won't ever get them in SFV.

Seeing as you still get the gameplay changes for free, I don't see the problem. Sure, they should have gotten Arcade Mode out sooner, but this looks pretty robust for an Arcade Mode.

Also, I doubt that this was a response to DBFZ.

I've been critical of Capcom for Street Fighter V (and I feel justifiably so), but this is definitely a major step in the right direction.

Uh..we've known about Arcade Mode/Arcade version of SFV since long before DBFZ was known to be a thing.

I feel very fucked from having bought this around when it was released.

$90 spent and whenever I boot it up there are tons of stages and characters I don't have access to.

Hard lesson learned Capcom.

You feel fucked because they released a two year old game with some of the content you could have gotten for free? Okay, man...

News flash: you will ALWAYS be able to buy games that are two years old (frequently with the DLC) for far cheaper. Always. So maybe you should just always wait two years... you will never feel fucked again.

Hot take: they will now become the "not like that, too Tate now, and what about this ?" Crowd and still not buy the game.

I'm a big SF fan and one of the people who bailed out of buying the game after we got the full picture of how it would release at launch. I'm going to buy this edition ASAP. What do I win?

So I know Extra Battle is gameplay content so it will be free content, but are the exclusive costumes as rewards specific to the Arcade Edition disc or can I still earn them with my copy of SFV?

Also, will the seasons get a deep discount in January?

A bit of a bummer for those who purchased the game at release (full price) but haven't purchased the DLC characters yet.

Excited about the update though, looks good.

....why would it?

Well one of the screens shows the first yeat CPT stage, and that's not available for purchase anymore.

I'm curious too as I bought the first pack. Waiting to buy the second pack on whether or not I see if it's included here. I assume it will probably include the first pack (or at least the stage), but maybe not the costumes/colors.

This comes out 10 days before EVO Japan. Do you guys think they actually won't use AE because it's too new? It sounds crazy to think they'd use S2 instead, but it does come out less than 2 weeks before EVO Japan so that possibility is there. I think the majority would agree that AE should just be used and lets just see what kind of madness unfolds from the new balance update, V Triggers, and the possibility of new V skills, other mechanics, and maybe the introduction of the 1st character of the new season.

When you don't have any plans for that mode and are still working on other modes. Not to mention this seems to have bunch of effort put into it with selectable 'routes', bonus stages and endings.
They havent added any new modes aince story. Extra battle was supposed to hit a long time ago. So in terms of effort, i question the amount put into it.

Available to all, regardless of "version" that you own.

Expect it. S1 pass went on sale when all the characters dropped, expect the same this year for S1 and S2. Though I don't know about January but it's still possible.
I see ring of destiny in the stage select screen though...
lol, all of the extra/DLC stages (except Guile's) still have to be bought even if you buy the AE. I wouldn't read too much into it.

I've done it twice now (Base Game + S1 season pass for Steam, Base Game + S1 & S2 passes for PS4) and I still feel I got enough value out of playing it. I won't consider getting the new package unless there is some new content specific to its release though. It's just the way these GOTY editions are for any game, not just SFV.

The update itself (which I haven't actually talked about at all) is really promising - Nadeshiko with the steel chair and Chun Li with Kikosho back is hype for me personally. I'm more looking forward to what's in store for Season 3 personally.

There is a fine line between someone that is ignoring the problems and looking at the positives, and simply disproving a lot of hyperbole that tends to dominate the conversation.

What if there was a thread about how MvCI's graphics were bad and I started posting gifs of how good the animations were in SFV to defend Capcom honor? Lol

No way imo

So, free upgrade even if I didn't buy any of those season passes?
I'm just gonna quote meself because I just answered this very question.

Really keeping the red / blue stuff instead of full color profile images for the health bars? I hope that changes for the final release. I've seen that mod on PC and it is a thousand times nicer looking.
