Kobe can take it, Pau cannot. The team is built around Kobe and Pau. Kobe started the year playing like ass and Pau was lights out. At the start Phil did not come after Kobe.The M.O.B said:

When were these offers made? Just curious.
The 42 mil was made before his rookie contract ended. The 35 mil offer was made the year after, and Felton turned it down. He wanted to stay, but Higgins never saw eye to eye with his agent and they agreed to the QO. At the end of last season, he fired his agent and hired the same guy who got Shard and Brandon Bass paid.captmcblack said:
