Bluepoint Games' April-teased PlayStation 5 game "will become the achievement we're most proud of," company president Marco Thrush told SegmentNext in a recent interview.
"We originally remastered Shadow of the Colossus for the PS3 and then remade it for the PS4. It's the only one we've touched twice and to date it is our greatest achievement, so it's easy to say that is our personal favorite. However, there's no question in our minds that our current project will become the achievement we're most proud of."

Thrush added that Bluepoint Games has been invested in ways that make remastering or remaking games "more powerful and efficient."
"Fortunately the Bluepoint Engine and toolset has been in development for many years. We have significantly invested in ways that allow our process of remastering or remaking games to be powerful and efficient. It is flexible and able to take advantage of any hardware."

It's got to be Demon Souls at the rate they are hyping it. Anything less is going to end in revolt.

If it is Demon Souls it kills most hopes for PS3 bc. What a double edged sword.

People already expect only PS4 BC. If it's a Demon's Souls remake, it will be great.
Are these people?

He just gave a link to a patent, meaning the tech is there for enhancing PS4 games. Which would allow them to do something similar to what the competition does.

So evil!
The link wasn't there when I quoted it. He edited it in after.

We are all adult enough to know that these companies file patents to stop other companies from doing such things instead of doing it themselves. Right?

Yeah, the BC remastering is just about injecting better textures, sound, etc. into the original codes, sort of like binary modding.

The most interesting patent was the one for adding trophies to older games (PS1, PS2, etc). That was cool.

Are these people?

The latest comes from well-known PlayStation insider PSErebus, who warns gamers not to sell their older game discs, strongly hinting widespread backward compatibility is in the works.

Hahaha. Well-known insider. Please.

Not always. Some patents, like the one about trophy support over an emulated game the next poster mentions, have actually been used in products.

But we are all mature enough to not be misleading, right?

The fun thing is that in a few months we will all know for sure, until then all we can do is speculate.

At the official announcement we can decide who mislead who.

There better be a reveal at The Game Awards with all this talking they're doing.

I don't want to hear more of their shit poetry around Christmas.

Lots of stealth concern trolling detected XD. as for bluepoint games project, it can be anything at this point. no one knows with all the cryptic messages from bluepoint.

What good guys they are. Care to show some proof?
What's with the attitude? This is obviously what I assume based on the fact that they have referenced several games, there is the Sony patent and they said this:

Look like its a Sony title:

"Thrush did not share any additional information, only that it will share more when Sony Interactive Entertainment is ready to make an official announcement."

None of that points to them making PS5 backwards compatibility nor would it make any sense if they were. They are a 3rd party games developer, not Sony software engineers.

If it's Demon's Souls, I just hope that they don't dumb down the char/world tendency for "accessibility".

I would love to play demons souls again on PS4 or PS5 but Demon´s Souls is so particular title, that they can to screw it up to reimagining it.

Looking through their work over time, Bluepoint has grown a lot.
Sony should really try to acquire them.

They need to announce it. I know they're probably being asked in an interview or something here, and can't help it, but the endless teasing in general is getting really annoying.

If this is some kind of Game Awards reveal, as Ryu Kaiba Ryu Kaiba said, fine, but if it isn't, and we do this all the way up to next year's PS5 unveiling or E3, it's going to be obnoxious. At some point, I'm going to stop caring until they have something of substance to show.

Just to make remastered? Better spending money on studios who can actually make original games imo...
In the current climate, Sony is practically forced to buy studios, or someone else will in order to prevent said studios from making games for them.

I don't know if forced is the ritgh word in this case...
Aquiring a studios is much more complicated than this and remastered doesn't really sold that much except for extraordinary cases like ff7remake or re2remake.

Would it make much difference? Sony already spends money keeping them busy making remasters/remakes all year.
With the amount of forgotten IPs Sony has, and Bluepoint talent, they could keep making remakes/re-imagining and they would basically feel like brand new games. Psygnosis old IPs alone would make it worth it.

Worth for us nerds, not for the masses imo.
Sony is not gonna buy them i think.

There is no way they would be more proud of Demon's Souls over the love they had for SOTC. DS isn't even that much of a beloved game, outside of it's hardcore following.

It has to be bigger than that, for them to be hyping it this much.

Feck demon souls

Just play it on your ps3 or ps5 backward compatible

Legend of Dragoon is the one that desperately need a Remake the old game look like potatoes lets fkn do it

To be fair, Shadow of the Colossus is a cult classic. It isn't exactly mainstream either.

SotC was big, but very empty.
In terms of scope Demon's Souls + Land of Giants is much bigger. Lots of equipments, full combat system, char/world tendency changing the world (opening /closing new paths, adding removing NPCs, changing NPCs reactions).
Fully remaking Demon's Souls is much much bigger than remaking SotC.

I wouldn't say it's a "cult game". It had one of Sony's biggest ever viral advertising campaigns and was one of the biggest sellers of 2005. Not to mention it appearing in many Top 100 games of all time lists.

I think it's, not one game, but a bunch of PS3 games. Basically all the ones they hinted at in that infamous Tweet.

I played Demon's this year and World Tendency, after being explained to me, kept my ass in line. It made the game harder, but only because it feels like it wants you to be better at it.
