Watching All-Female Ghostbusters For First Time....

Darkmakaimura

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
I can see why this movie didn't do well and it's not really just because it's an all female cast. In fact the actresses aren't that bad but wow the sfx and production value.... it's like watching a Goosebumps episode.

How is it the fx and designs are millennia better in the original movie than this remake? The original ghosts looked scary. This looks like a made for tv cartoon.

Chris Hemsworth is funny though especially about his dog. I legit laughed at that.

Still watching this trainwreck but barely interested enough to finish it. At least it's on FX so it's free I guess.

I saw this travesty in the theater not knowing anything about it (hadn't even seen a trailer or paid attention to any of the internet controversy).

the actresses are horrendous

it was a bad cosplay turned into a movie
Yeah I'm still only less than half way through and it's getting worse. I'm at the part where they finally are in their Ghostbusters get-up where they meet up with the Kevin Feige character. Ayy.

Movie was just not funny. Comedies should be funny and this one was not. Everything else is just window dressing for complaining. Could of had the same movie with 4 dudes and if the jokes fell just as flat then it would of sucked as well.

Don't understand why your continue watching this trainwreck, if something isn't good just stop watching. You don't get a badge of honor or anything just the right to say you finished this abomination.

I just did. Turned it off and probably will do some grocery shopping.

But if you turn it off now you'll miss the part where the final boss ghost is the ghost from the logo, aka the symbolic representation of the franchise itself, and they defeat it by shooting it in the dick.

such subtlety

Chris hemsworth is probably the best part of this movie.....if you didnt have him can you imagine how extra shit it would be

Also..you are a dirty incel Op :)

You know those rumors about the Fast and Furious actors having a bigger dick contest by refusing to look weaker than the other actors in fight scenes.

Ghostbusters felt like that, except the actresses always trying to one up the other actresses because they wanted to be the funny one. All 4 of the fucking actresses trying to be the comedic relief was unbearable

The movie had no idea what it wanted to be. But it wasn't Ghostbusters.

No coherent script. Too many ad-libs. The one black character being a stereotype and NOTHING like Winston. The "Egon" was a douchebag of a "cool chick" ... Just...

No.

Why would you do that to yourself? Watch the original 2 instead or play the recent(ish) game that got a remaster a few months ago for the proper sequel to the 2 films.

The worst part about the movie is that most of those horrid jokes and dialogue you heard and saw were improvised and not on the script. Turns out these funny ladies were just terribly terribly unfunny here.

The best joke literally happens like 10 minutes into the movie (confusion about old guy being ghost) and it's all downhill from there.

I liked the part where they played the song Rhythm of the Night by Debarg. That's literally all I can remember from the movie.

There's nothing wrong with all female casts. I thought oceans 8 was actually pretty good. But this was just bad and not funny.

Problem for me is that it everything felt like Imrpov. There was a very loose story and all the dialogue, especially during fights was straight improvved and not done well. And you can tell. Every wide shot of them battling a ghost the camera will do a close up of one of the Ghostbusters and then they'll say something "zany". Every single fucking time. When a buster talks it pans in close and has them make a one liner that is fucking stupid and doesn't land. There were some ok jokes thoughout but nothing like the first two films. And hell the fights were shittier than the first but they had 30 years of improved tech to work with. Also the villian just couldn't compete with the first two villians. Until staypuft showed up, the ghost villians were played straight and actually quite scary. Nothing was scary about this one.

I could go on and on, but this was a horrible reboot and not because it was all female. I was fine with that. It just sucked ass.

Edit: I think most actors need a good script, male or female to be funny. And improvised jokes should be kept to a minimum. When you hear of really good inrpovised scenes, it's usually something they just said in the moment without thinking about it. Here it felt like the director and writers were lazy as fuck. Stuck a camera in the ladies faces and said "be funny". That's not how it fucking works.

I never watched it, just heard it was bad and saw Mr. Plinkett's (RedLetterMedia) review on it. Honestly as soon as I saw the trailer I knew it was just going to be a shitty cash grab. And their brilliant pr Idea of calling anyone who was skeptical of it sexist also turned me off too.

I'm getting super tired of all this gender stuff. The movie sucked because the director sucked and just let the whole thing be ad-libbed.

Now, even though most people agree it's just a bad movie, I've seen a handful of people online defending it. Pretty much every one of them is some white guy saying "it's not that bad guys" while saying generic things like "it was fun." Probably trying to win browny points with certain groups and/or trying to support out of fear of being called an incel or something.

It's so bad. The humor is lame. Story is terrible too. Main villain is a random loser who everyone even the heroes shit on. There is a scene where he commits suicide in front of them and they just watch it happen. What a great thing for your comedy movie! That's the second time they watch someone die in front of them.

Every male character is a fucking idiot. Not in the internet hyperbole way but literally retarded. Say what you will about GB2 sidelining Dana at least it didn't turn her into a gibbering moron. "Mike Hat" is a joke I would have thought was lame when I was 10.

Trash garbage movie. The fact they actually kill people with ghosts due to their incompetence only starts to demonstrate the problems this movie has.

I rewatched Ghostbusters 2 not that long ago... and besides the villain.. this movie wasn't very good. I used to love it as a kid but now I'd put it on par with the 2016 version.

Yeah, still cant get over how the villain literally turned into the ghostbusters logo, and they defeated it by shooting it in the dick. How much more directly can you say fuck this franchise and its fans than that.

GB2 wasn't very good but it did have good moments and I liked Vigo.

It's a masterpiece though compared to Femmebusters "is this a race thang or a woman thang" which is about where I turned it off.

GB2 wasn't very good

Never understood this bandwagon. I've always loved both movies, I think you could absolutely argue the first movie is better and deserves a bit more credit for being unique and groundbreaking, but I have never gotten why people say the second one was a bad movie.

I rewatched it recently.

It's not a bad movie, just not that good either. Parts feel very forced or juvenile while other parts felt too.... "cutesy". It lacked the more adult humor the first movie had even with blobs and marshmallow man.

LOL not a "bandwagon" the movie sucks. i knew it sucked when i saw it in the theater and was 8 and i knew it sucked when i watched it just a few days ago. not that there's anything wrong with enjoying it, but it's a terrible movie. first movie is lightning in a bottle great. this was clearly a cash-in but yeah next to 2016 even a 90s cash in is high art.

it's fine, there is a lot to love about it, but it's incredibly stupid, and nowhere near as funny as the first movie. it doesn't really treat Dana well as a character at all they hired Sigourney Weaver to have her literally running around screaming "Where's my baby?" for most running time. main villain is good but again the ending is just whatever, they shoot slime at him, Ray gets possessed and it lasts all of 10 seconds, wrapped up super neatly. at some point Slimer shows up driving a bus and you're just like... ok... i'll just shut my brain off and enjoy this.

Don't forget Tully in a GB uniform which served no purpose.

It was a real step down from the original and felt more like it was made for kids.

Kinda worried the third movie is going to target the preteen demographic as well only more "darker and edgier" with no doubt a few Current Year things thrown in. I was unimpressed with the trailer. We'll see.

Yeah I agree

but it's incredibly stupid, and nowhere near as funny as the first movie.

Neither of these necessarily makes it a "bad" movie. I said it was inferior to the first. I don't really agree with the "incredibly stupid" assessment either.

Made sense to me, seemed like a decent continuation of the Murray/Weaver relationship from the first movie. I didn't need her throwing traps with the boys, her role seemed fine to me.

main villain is good but again the ending is just whatever, they shoot slime at him, Ray gets possessed and it lasts all of 10 seconds, wrapped up super neatly.

Are you kidding me Vigo and his little lackey were great, I guess he was no David Bowie Gozer lol. And I personally love that ending with the Statue of Liberty and the slime dome, it's pretty fun I think.

This could be a 'thing' for you, your next review could be Charlies Angels 2019, or the upcoming Bond film (disaster)

The only female lead movie I'm genuinely excited for is the Black Widow movie

The hate was not manufactured in any way. It's just genuinely one of the worst high budget movies of the past decade. It goes into a category with movies like The Love Guru.

It's unfathomable that Sony allowed some guy to have free reign on a $140M project with what was supposed to be a revival and introduction of an extended universe. Everyone got exactly what they deserved.

I almost couldn't believe what I was watching. How the hell did they think that was going to go over well?

Holy shit being in any comparison to the Love Guru is scary company.... I keep thinking maybe it's so bad it's worth watching it as I love Kate McKinnon but I guess I don't need any other confirmation than hearing Love Guru
