MS announced Xbox One in May, while Sony did their reveal in Feb 2013.

you seem to think this wasn't planned for months. these presentations were planned to be made during GDC, that was cancelled and now both just release their specs and presentations online.
there's literally nothing more to it

Maybe it is, that does not mean that the xsx spec release did not influence there decision.

A repetation has been building that the xsx is a beast of a next gen console, its not in sonys interest to keep this reality unchallenged. If they are more powerful they want to be known as the power king.
 
Sony did unveil PSVR at a GDC in like 2014 or 15, so maybe they always planned to reveal the PS5 specs at GDC, cause its technical info most useful to game devs.
 
For the people who are wondering if games are going to be shown, well Godfall is going to be shown very soon.
Also whats with the 8 tf stuff ? At least get a bit realistic .. I think people will be very happy tomorrow.
 
I think if MS knew Sony would be revealing PS5 tomorrow and they were sure XsX to be superior, the smart move would be to *wait* Sony reveal PS5 and then blow everyone away with XsX.

That would be a lot more impactful and could make Sony look silly and weak. That's why I don't think MS know PS5 full specs yet. They are creating buzz to generate relevance for Xbox brand.

No, because if the PS5 isn't at least 12TF then it is not a true generational leap. It would be a piece of junk that no one should purchase. However, I'm certain that it will be at least thirteen TF.

I think both were planning on doing it around this time anyway because of the whole GDC thing, timing adds up for both.
 
Them revealing after MS doesn't mean much to me. Them revealing like TWO DAYS after MS does detailed specs says confidence to me. Can't say for sure but with Corona providing an easy excuse to delay I gotta say this seems like they were giddy after seeing what MS has
 
There's just no way Sony will release a console costing more than the XSX.... So for me the PS5 will be less powerful in terms of GPU processing.... I can see the SSD being twice as fast, and more RAM available for Devs but not by much.

If the PS5 has a smaller APU then surely there will be less CU's... They can only clock the thing so much...

If the CU's are maxed to 40 you would need to clock them to 2.6ghz to get 13.3 tfs.

Let's see if I'm proven right or wrong tomorrow. 🤔

What likely happened is both MS and Sony did their own next gen promotional work as online videos since GDC was canned.

MS did a lot of legwork since you can tell it involved more than some last minute stream. When you got a coordinated PR bit from MS, and DF guys it's not like they did it all Sunday afternoon and uploaded everything Monday morning.

It's GDC week anyway, and MS already confirmed they were going to do a video (something about MS Stack), so it looks like over the last few weeks they added dedicated SeX articles and videos too.

Sony bailed from GDC. But looks like their plan is to do an online info session as well. As someone pointed out, Sony Japan says Cerny is going to stream what he was going to talk about anyway.

So it looks like both companies prepared to talk consoles during GDC week, but just by coincidence MS went first (or MS got word Cerny was Tuesday and purposely did a Monday morning release).

Either way, MS spilled the beans and it looks like Sony will spill the beans tomorrow.

So why all the cloak and dagger on who/why which company goes first?

Yea right after detailed breakdown of xsx they said let's do deep dive in ps5 architecture. Literally less than 1 day after they tweeted it .

Yes, i agree i still dont think it disproves my theroy that sony were influenced by the recent ms spec money shot.
I dont think its a bad thing either sony are doing what i would do if i was in charge.
While i think its admirable that spencer talks that for one platform to be successful the other does not have to lose, i do think its somehat naive in business, sony are more aggressive they are business killers.

But at the end of the day this stuff is rather trivial, ive said to myself next gen im only getting one next gen and i mainly play 3rd party games so the most powerful machine is likely the one i will get, I will miss game pass though.

Says the opposite to me. MS released everything gave hands on deep dive. Videos and speculation on the power and what everything XSX can do are running rampant.

Sony needs to get there specs out there and get people talking about what their machine can do. Not necessarily how it stacks up. But what "advantages" it has and there goal for next gen.

Overall I think price will be what matters and if Sony wins the spec fight MS is gonna try and win the price fight, and I think this vice versa.
 
Hello, I'm from Russia (sorry for my English ) one of the developers of Saber interactive Russia in the Russian social network, answered the user's question which console is more powerful. He said that the Ps5 is more powerful and its SSD is faster
 
So if this Timmy Fish correctly predicted the PS5 specs aswell, will the name of this site change to Neotim or something. He deserves some recognition!

that is actually a very good idea. We don't really know how games will look like as from 2021 onwards.

If he could show Knack 3 at 120 FPS 4K with an insane amount of physics collisions that would be mighty impressive.
