Im very curious how sony have designed the physical console and cooling system. The XSX is a great system, its simple but it solves the heat issue very efficiently. Unfortunately i dont think sony will show the internals anytime soon.
It will also be interesting how sony solves the gddr6 high frequency problem.

How do you figure? What is to keep Microsoft from releasing more information. I doubt Sony are going to negate everything Microsoft have done to this point with whatever they show tomorrow.

Microsoft already blew their load. There's not much left for them to say about it, tech wise. So Sony gets the last word, thus they get to frame the perception that we carry into the generation, after both consoles have had their big tech reveals.

Even if Sony's console is weaker in every way, the fact that XBSX is known now means that Sony can downplay Microsoft's tech advantage and focus solely on their services and BC and whatever else will draw attention away from the tech question. Or, if PS5 is meaningfully better in any single regard, then Sony gets to hype up that one aspect as being the deal-breaker tech that will define the generation, etc. (Maybe we're already seeing that with Sony's alleged SSD speed advantage)

Wow! I Had PS4 since late 2013 until I got the Pro late 2016, both are dead silent. The Pro if the room is hot (closed AC for some reason) you can hear some sound slightly. Should I upload a video? Maybe some markets received more of those bad ones, some markets didn't because I've seen plenty of PS4 and all of them are quite. Read about it that it can be caused by dirt or bad thermal paste(?)/not applied properly.

Its a extension to the TMUs that does traverses aabb trees and does triangle intersection tests. Doesn't look like it'd be useful for much more then raytracing then again its a closed system so it might get used for something else. You can do some other things with the fast intersection logic...

As far as I understand it the X box SSD is just like a traditional hardrive. You put games on, you take them off. Yes they can stored on a traditional hardrive but thats just for storage they must be manually transferred over to the SSD.

My hopes for the PS5 is that the SSD is smaller (say 200gb) but used as a kind of virtual ram. So a game is loaded off a traditional hardrive and on start up or as you play the files are copied to the SSD. When you quit a game those files are automatically "flushed".

Basically all the advantages of SSD without the limited storage space. The only thing the end user has to worry about is managing a single large traditional hardrive, as we have always done.

I couldn't agree less.

NVME ssds are transformative. Having an intermediate mechanical disk would ruin the performance benefits: system OS would be sluggy just like it is now, long delays waiting for file operations, etc.
