JAKARTA (REUTERS) - Indonesia has turned its "Athlete's Village" built for the 2018 Asian Games into an emergency hospital with a capacity to hold more than 4,000 patients, authorities said on Sunday, as coronavirus cases and deaths in the country rose.
Four out of 10 towers in the Athlete's Village, located in the country's capital city, have been converted into a medical facility that would house more than 7,000 people, including a coronavirus task force, medical staff and up to 4,208 patients.
The Athletes' Village was built in March 2016 in Kemayoran, comprising 10 towers that together have nearly 7,500 residential units. Every unit has a space of 36 square meters with two bedrooms. Those towers were completed in February 2018 and six months later became the accommodation center of the Asian Games.
Who's actually gonna show up?

Russia got banned from the 2020 Olympics for cheating. Any Russian that is allowed will participate under a different title.
All I know is that this situation is HELL for extroverts. I'm by nature an introvert, and have spent literally months at a time in years past in my apartment with only minimal social interaction. I of course like to get outside, but more for like walks and nature and stuff - not for the social interaction necessarily. Thus I'm ideally suited to being cooped up in the house for weeks/months on end. Absolutely doesn't faze me at all. My wife, on the other hand, was losing her mind after a mere 2.5 days indoors. It's funny how different people can be. I offered to drive us somewhere remote, like a beach or park where there are no other people around so she could at least get outside and clear her mind, but she's so terrified of this virus that she doesn't want to go (even if we use masks), even though it's literally making her miserable to be stuck indoors this long.
At the risk of sounding completely ignorant and naive, I don't get how there can be such a shortage on medical supplies. Especially masks. How long does it take to make them and ship them out?
You read stories about the work that went down during WW2 about the British restoring towers and communications during the Battle of Britain, restoring them when they were fucking bombed in a day or two. Stories about tanks and weaponry being churned out en masse and all kinds of supplies.
I know this isn't a world war, but it's a war on a virus and everyone is trying to band together to defeat this thing and they can't get the manpower or resources to mass produce masks or eye gear or gloves? You figure factories do most of the work, they should have hundreds of thousands of these cranked out a week per production facility.
Just had a fucking nuclear leg workout. Home gym owners stay winning.
Also what's the deal with all these no equipment workout videos? Do they not sell dumbbells where you live?

Iran is one of the worst hit countries and it is pretty hot out there at the moment.

Anyone find it odd China is now up to 88% recovered from the Virus?

For a country with more than a billion people, how do you literally stop transmissions of the virus?
Meanwhile, I still read projections that say the pandemic can be around for months.

So why are doctors getting infected? The virus also still lives on some surface for 3 days.It does not matter whether a country has 100, 100,000 or 100,000,000 inhabitants. A lockdown is a lockdown, and if you stick with it, it will always produce exactly the same results.
China has of course the advantage that the people and the government there have already had previous experience (SARS/MERS) and that face masks etc. are also very common there. Many people have already worn face masks at the end of December and beginning of January as a precaution. But of course the government is doing its part as well.
What is always frightening is that people don't know what simple hand washing, how to sneeze and not to touch the face can do to spread a virus. This can already prevent 40-50% of cases. If you add face masks (see Asia) and some social distance, viruses have a relatively hard time. And by the way, this was almost all the case in China before the lockdown happened.

This aged well.
Got some news from a friend in the U.S, he is worried because he has the Symptoms similar to Corona, he is immunocompromised as well. but, he said he has no money to get tested and no health insurance to boot.
no insurance due to him being promoted at work or something? so the insurance is not ready for him to use.
I heard a lot of stories about U.S healthcare, but man, he also mentions Trump being a bit nonchalant about it?
here we got people some complaining for the government being super slow during the Corona pandemic. even though they already bought the rapid tests, planning to do a mass test for free. for now, you can go to a referred hospital individually and ask for a test, you only pay for it if the result is negative.
we do have a high death rate though
possibly due to many people go undetected and I have heard (and seen) people not practicing social distance as well.
they turned athletes village into a makeshift hospital in less than a week, they modify the place to make ICUs, Labs, Radiology and all. I hope this goes to pass soon and the makeshift hospital won't see much use.
I've seen the isolation room for the patient. one unit housing 1-2 patients have a living room, 2 bedrooms, and a kitchen. better than my apartment honestly.

the only bad news is the housing complex is not far from my workplace, and I still go to work every day. "someone gotta stay in the office" they said.

The interesting thing is that in both cases, the women were only looking for sustenance/supplies; whereas for the males the reward on both occasions was sexual in nature. This is a variation of the other joke posted earlier where a man tells about some crazy crackhead woman offering blowjob and a donut and in the end we see he holds a donut.
