Got some news from a friend in the U.S, he is worried because he has the Symptoms similar to Corona, he is immunocompromised as well. but, he said he has no money to get tested and no health insurance to boot.
no insurance due to him being promoted at work or something? so the insurance is not ready for him to use.

I heard a lot of stories about U.S healthcare, but man, he also mentions Trump being a bit nonchalant about it?

here we got people some complaining for the government being super slow during the Corona pandemic. even though they already bought the rapid tests, planning to do a mass test for free. for now, you can go to a referred hospital individually and ask for a test, you only pay for it if the result is negative.
we do have a high death rate though :(
possibly due to many people go undetected and I have heard (and seen) people not practicing social distance as well.

they turned athletes village into a makeshift hospital in less than a week, they modify the place to make ICUs, Labs, Radiology and all. I hope this goes to pass soon and the makeshift hospital won't see much use.

JAKARTA (REUTERS) - Indonesia has turned its "Athlete's Village" built for the 2018 Asian Games into an emergency hospital with a capacity to hold more than 4,000 patients, authorities said on Sunday, as coronavirus cases and deaths in the country rose.
Four out of 10 towers in the Athlete's Village, located in the country's capital city, have been converted into a medical facility that would house more than 7,000 people, including a coronavirus task force, medical staff and up to 4,208 patients.

I've seen the isolation room for the patient. one unit housing 1-2 patients have a living room, 2 bedrooms, and a kitchen. better than my apartment honestly.

suasana-kamar-untuk-atlet-di-wisma-atlet-kemayoran-jakarta-_180214235404-906.jpg

The Athletes' Village was built in March 2016 in Kemayoran, comprising 10 towers that together have nearly 7,500 residential units. Every unit has a space of 36 square meters with two bedrooms. Those towers were completed in February 2018 and six months later became the accommodation center of the Asian Games.

the only bad news is the housing complex is not far from my workplace, and I still go to work every day. "someone gotta stay in the office" they said.

All I know is that this situation is HELL for extroverts. I'm by nature an introvert, and have spent literally months at a time in years past in my apartment with only minimal social interaction. I of course like to get outside, but more for like walks and nature and stuff - not for the social interaction necessarily. Thus I'm ideally suited to being cooped up in the house for weeks/months on end. Absolutely doesn't faze me at all. My wife, on the other hand, was losing her mind after a mere 2.5 days indoors. It's funny how different people can be. I offered to drive us somewhere remote, like a beach or park where there are no other people around so she could at least get outside and clear her mind, but she's so terrified of this virus that she doesn't want to go (even if we use masks), even though it's literally making her miserable to be stuck indoors this long.

Introverts are just shy extroverts. Theyre not enjoying this anymore than anyone else. Its just that one respects their own testicles and the other is watching someone else's testicles being emptied on PronHub.

Including Tommy Robinson's?

At the risk of sounding completely ignorant and naive, I don't get how there can be such a shortage on medical supplies. Especially masks. How long does it take to make them and ship them out?

You read stories about the work that went down during WW2 about the British restoring towers and communications during the Battle of Britain, restoring them when they were fucking bombed in a day or two. Stories about tanks and weaponry being churned out en masse and all kinds of supplies.

I know this isn't a world war, but it's a war on a virus and everyone is trying to band together to defeat this thing and they can't get the manpower or resources to mass produce masks or eye gear or gloves? You figure factories do most of the work, they should have hundreds of thousands of these cranked out a week per production facility and millions total.

Just had a fucking nuclear leg workout. Home gym owners stay winning.
Also what's the deal with all these no equipment workout videos? Do they not sell dumbbells where you live?

Further more, the zika out break/ebola and aids epidemics in africa and no one spoke of supply shortages beyond food.

Oh, and the entire war in the middle east brought about by 9/11. Never heard about anyone talking of supply shortages for the longest war weve seen in modern times.

Any tips for those of us who struggle to activate the legs ( I work a very heavy/active job on construction sites, so maybe over use is my prob).

No excues to not work out now more than ever.

I think all mask factories are running at full speed, and other non-related companies have already switched their activity to production of masks or hand gel. We all heard those stories of common companies switching to producing ammunition or weapons during the war, but it didn't happen overnight.
You also have to consider that it's a worldwide issue, so the demand is huge compared to usual.

Yup, I have a pull up bar, weights, treadmill, crosstrainer, I'll go in fat and come out of the house rock hard in a year , neighborhood doesn't know what will hit them 🤣

The MERS coronavirus a few years ago experienced an outbreak in the late-spring of 2014: Figure 1 of https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0140673615604548?via=ihub.

So while you hope that transmission is lower in the hot months, the heat will likely not eliminate the virus.

MERS is unique in that it is adapted to higher temperatures due to it being exclusive to the middle east and you need to contract it directly from a camel (or infected camel meat/milk).

We need to wait and see how sustained higher temps effect COVID-19, MERS patterns will likely not be indicative for anything related to the current outbreak.

Anyone find it odd China is now up to 88% recovered from the Virus?

For a country with more than a billion people, how do you literally stop transmissions of the virus?

Meanwhile, I still read projections that say the pandemic can be around for months.

KNlnGo4.png

By stoping to test? 🤣

It's would actually be terrifying if China is lying about this.

What do we do when airplanes start flying again and China sends these "recovered" people all around the world again?

We hunker down in our homes again, the Dow drops further, we have the new storyline for I Am Legend 2.

Because of the virus the schools are closed and the children are at home. Thanx to the technology my little nephew was able to connect with his girlfriend who he miss so much.

Thought some positive news would be welcome.

Feel like I time travelled like Animal Crossing
it seems this tracker have edited back USA numbers a bit

oUBem1g.png

BNO and the Guardian had it right good to edit mistakes but don't update like that

In my humble opinion, as these figures are updated multiple times, only "yesterday" figures are reliable.
Note that US has increased number of tests, so spike in cases is natural:

"For months" is the optimistic scenario.

Iran is one of the worst hit countries and it is pretty hot out there at the moment.
Just checked. It's 9 C in Tehran.

It's 30+ Celsius in Saudi Arabia. They are at 511 and +119 new cases yesterday.

There are not too few medical supplies available. In the end, the world has more than enough to deal with the virus. The problem is rather the logistics and who is in possession of these important goods. The virus has different epicenters in each country. Even in Italy there are more than enough hospitals with full medical supplies. But the virus requires an enormous concentration of these medical goods at different regional points, i.e. these epicentres. In short, if the virus were perfectly evenly spread throughout the world, there would be few bottlenecks.

It does not matter whether a country has 100, 100,000 or 100,000,000 inhabitants. A lockdown is a lockdown, and if you stick with it, it will always produce exactly the same results.
China has of course the advantage that the people and the government there have already had previous experience (SARS/MERS) and that face masks etc. are also very common there. Many people have already worn face masks at the end of December and beginning of January as a precaution. But of course the government is doing its part as well.

What is always frightening is that people don't know what simple hand washing, how to sneeze and not to touch the face can do to spread a virus. This can already prevent 40-50% of cases. If you add face masks (see Asia) and some social distance, viruses have a relatively hard time. And by the way, this was almost all the case in China before the lockdown happened.

So why are doctors getting infected? The virus also still lives on some surface for 3 days.

What I want to know about the coronavirus countermeasures is what is the world government doing about the PS5 and the Bloodborne2 situation.

I think the UN needs to step up its game and nationalize AMD as well as SONY right now and force release the PS5 immediately.
Then put FROM in lockdown until BB2 is ready.

Anything less and the virus will win.

So why are doctors getting infected? The virus also still lives on some surface for 3 days.

There are very many reasons for this.

It starts with the fact that patients rarely wear a face mask themselves, or at least not at the beginning. The face mask is always most effective when it is worn by someone who is ill and not by the healthy ones.
Doctors and hospital staff are also unable to maintain a social distance and belong to the strongest risk group of getting sick. I think it can be assumed that most doctors and hospital staff have been infected if they did not have a face mask or did not observe other hygiene standards, which is certainly difficult to do in some hospitals if you have to ensure that the many patients are cared for promptly. It must also be remembered that the vast majority of doctors are not infected in the first place.

She has obviously accepted the offer, because in the end you see her holding a cookie in her hand (or is this the joke?). :messenger_grimmacing_

This is a variation of the other joke posted earlier where a man tells about some crazy crackhead woman offering blowjob and a donut and in the end we see he holds a donut.

This aged well.

The most appalling thing about this is that the WHO are still held up as the authority when it comes to dealing with this.

This is a truly monumental fuck up on their part and when this whole thing blows over they should be held accountable.

The same people who are criticizing and advising government responses to this outbreak were telling the world 8 weeks ago that there was no human to human transmission.

How can we ever expect to deal with future pandemics and outbreaks when the damn World Health Organisation doesn't have their shit together?

What else are they getting wrong right now that we just haven't found out about yet?

hey mate, that place is quite close from my home too 😭😭

I will isolate no matter what's happening on the outside

People need to be wary of articles like this. It all seems very sketchy.

This guy is not going to live until morning but then doctors decide to administer a drug that was suggested in an article the guy got from a friend. You know, cos that's what doctors do. Just give him whatever, he's dying anyway.

Guy sleeps through the night and, boom, he's TOTALLY cured by morning. All better.

OK.

The interesting thing is that in both cases, the women were only looking for sustenance/supplies; whereas for the males the reward on both occasions was sexual in nature.

Well, not really 'interesting' as much as exactly what you'd expect.
