To be honest the XSX can have all the power it wants, because just like the X1X it will fail to have a significant impact worldwide.
Neither did the PS4 Pro. They are mid gen refreshes only aimed at hardcore fans(most people still bought PS4/Xbox One S).
 
The random read speeds is what REALLY counts and will be similar between XSX and PS5..You will only hit that sequential speed advantage when initially loading the entire game into memory.

From a PS4 owner, I would much rather have the extra GPU performance.

Can I notice the Photoshop load times between generational SSDs, no.

What gets me is the video references allot about Nvidia data compression and AMD vs Nvidia, and is well researched and gives references to AMD / Nvidia tech papers and developer conferences.

And we have posters who dont watch it, or probably dont understand it anyway...other than simple numbers and just pure ignorance and just trolling.

i've built my fair share of gaming rigs and not once was i ever, EVER, excited about purchasing the SSD thinking it will increase my FPS or allow me to play at a higher res among other things, CPU/GPU/RAM that's all that fckin matters, not SSD lol...this is getting out of control, neogaf.

Exactly. You can feel the agony in a certain part of the gaming community trying to convince us of ....stuff after the ps5 reveal debacle. On the other hand MS is calm and transparent and I suspect more bombs coming in the upcoming months (a small upclock for a close to 13 TF GPU) to twist the knife even more.

I didn't mention the Pro because the X1X was the most powerful console and it didn't pull up any trees for MS apart from minor bragging rights. Yes it was a halfway refresh but it's still had three years on the market.

I don't need to tell you anything, the word variable speaks for itself and DF has already explained how it will work. Even Cerny never dared to imply that you will have a 2.23 GHz running GPU all the time, he just sugarcoated it.

Err games files are always installed for sequential reads.
Devs have complete control over that.

Devs are excited about SSDs in consoles in general.
They are not only excited because of the ps5 ssd and totally bored by the Xbox series ssd. Lol

Again, for multiplatform games, the ssd will NOT provide an advantage for the ps5 other than maybe shorter loading times.

SSD in most cases doubles the framerate.

Coreteks really nailed this video, well researched, well spoken, well argued......Cerny is no two bit console designer, he had a vision to remove the most problematic issues that cripples performance and that's exactly what he did......XBOX did the traditional, huge TF whilst maintaining lots of the bottlenecks of yesteryear...….It's the very reason devs are excited for PS5 and have called it the most important piece of architecture/console in decades...….

That speaks more about how PC's have been limited due to the massive millstone around their neck that BC is on that platform vs consoles where they can revolutionise the way developers access the data and have it be really cheap for them... both consoles are counting on very fast SSD's, compression, and new API's to maximise the SSD capabilities and effectively extend the available RAM which inches closer and closer to be a cache of the lower level storage than it used to be.
If anything it shows you the limits just brute forcing your way through things has, common on the PC platform where deep revolutionary changes are risky as they break years and years of software support and quirks deeply entrenched in the tools and libraries.

So, this SSD jargon is mostly Sony devs and their circlejerk. Instead of checking what they said you jut quoted a Ree post and used it for your SSD PR.
I on the other hand quoted an actual dev who worked on big companies like Valve and Space X. The guys actually praising PS5 are indie devs and Randy(who is making a PS5 exclusive). The AMD dude is just saying both are great.

Extremely pleasing especially if your a PlayStation fan, the fact that the guy is a pc guy and has no biased towards either console developer makes makes him comments carry even more weight.

No need for all this anxiety , we WILL find out how the ps5 handles its GPU insane clock speed, the real number of TF the GPU is actually capable of and we will get to see the DF game comparisons. Just like with the 13 TF ps5 , that people who are trying to fight the good fight for Sony in this forum, were certain of, the truth will eventually come out. It will be glorious.

Well I understand your point, but you are mistaken about something, the gpu will run close to that number more often then not. Here is why:
When we for example run our game the cpu is most often not utilised at 100% load, that's due to the different workloads in the engine and the capped frame rate in consoles and the like. That means even if you have hardware overhead, the game will not make use of it. This is the correct approach as you want to make sure that throughout your game the frame rate remains constant, even with heavier scenes, which is why a little overhead (a small number) is always fine. In fact this results in some idle power for the cpu. Now if used correctly Sony devs could simply use the additional power for the gpu making it run a little faster. But again same principle goes for the gpu, you constantly want to hit your fps target and to achieve that you have to assume a constant power target from your gpu. This is where this feature must work, otherwise you would see a lot of variable frame rates, which you as a game developer not really want to see. So if Sony could not provide a relatively speaking constant power target, they would not have implemented this feature. I believe it will work quite well. But again this will not migrate the power difference between the two consoles, Xbox is more powerful but not to the extent that some people believe. Instead, this in my opinion is the best generation we have ever had for game devs as both consoles provide everything you want from a next gen console.

XSX is 12TF sustained at all times for devs to play with. PS5 is more like 9.2tf with the potential to temporarily boost to 10.2tf for the Michael Bay moments. However, the console will not be able to stay in boost reaching up 10.2 at all times without major heating issues,hence the need for variable clocks. Its really straight forward
I'm not a tech-expert, but isn't the PS5 designed specifically to prevent heating issues, while keeping the system in boost-mode most of the time.

That's basically the entire presentation in a nutshell. The exact opposite of what you're saying.

No this is not shit,this is the truth. That SSD is so unique,it has some dGPU stuff inside of it. When the devs begin to use it effectively,most of the games will be running at 4K/120fps. Mark my words my child. This is a no joke situation.
 
It's 10.3tflops, so it might go down to 10.2 in very rare circumstances, as he mentioned a 'couple percent drop' in frequency. Or 10.1.
Both the CPU and GPU cant both be maxed out. If the GPU is at 2.23ghz, the CPU might only be able to clock at 3.0ghz, and likewise if the CPU is maxed at 3.5ghz, the GPU wont be able to run at 2.23, but might drop to 2.0ghz.

You guys made a list of devs who praised PS5 and I separated the third party devs from that, none of them had jumped on the SSD jargon

10.3TF + lots of custom GPU silicon = 12.1TF Traditional....Or will be pretty close.to 12.1TF......Series X will win in some games, 10.3TF will win in some games....As far as game design that can't be replicated as easily elsewhere, PS5 will have the lead...

To me it seems like we have more people "concerned" and/or trying to dismiss PS5 SSD than others praising it.

Numbers are laid there, PS5 can handle more Raw data in a second than XsX can handle compressed!! And that's a massive advantage bigger than anything else between the two systems.
