I wish no ill will to anyone, but Boris wanted to get some pr wins by showing bravado in the early stages of the pandemic (shooking hands and whatnot). That was a poor decision and I hope it becomes a lesson to people and politicians alike: when doctors say you probably shouldn't do something, they're rarely talking out of their ass.

I hope he recovers.

I know you're a fanboy but Johnson hasn't shown any leadership whatsoever. He's lied to the queen, illegally prorogued parliament, broken promise after promise, but leadership? Not so much.

It won't be anything too serious if it's precautionary, and I hope he's fine and gets well as soon as possible.

FYI it's Demonic Rabb we have in reserve. His one redeeming feature is that he isn't Michael Gove - the thickest person I've ever had the misfortune of working with.

Sorry for your family's loss.

I work in a care home, and in my experience no matter how old the person is, or how sick they are, when they die it's usually very hard on the sons and daughters.

Being denied the opportunity to be with your parent when they're dying makes it much, much worse. All I can say is do your best to be supportive of your mom.

I don't know what else to say. Our elders matter.

Yeh from what I've read it can take a sudden change for the worse after that period of time if not closely monitored.

He will get the best care possible though so should be ok.

I followed the last UK election pretty closely, and it's kind of scary how you all basically have your equivalent of the TDS crowd... BDS I guess. The "woke" fuckers who are more hateful and vile than anyone they happen to identify as problematic.

So the wet market story is starting to crumble. It was based on the first case being in December. Now we have this guy in November. No details on who he is but it doesn't seem like he has a connection to this wet market.

Not sure how you can say "no details on who he is" but at the same time say "it doesn't seem like he has a connection". That's a complete blind guess your making to fit the narrative you want to believe.

Because the reports won't name the man, but did not identify that he was at the market or from the market. So if there was a connection IMO the media would of reported that while still omitting the mans name or other personal info.

The Wet market may have been there, but the original story was that on December 10th the first patient with it Wei Guixian got it from the wet market.

So the 55 year old man in Novemeber undermines the dec 10th timeline.

It can be argued that this is just more information coming out and it isn't some nefarious plot by the CCP. But it does poke holes in the wet market story and open up other possible theories. If the virus was around before Wei Guixian back in November than she probably didn't bring it out from the wet market, she probably brought it into the wet market.

As someone who's spent night there for a few weddings. Been there for multiple events. Its definitely creepy as hell. I wont stay the night there again. Had a weird experience drunk and alone in an empty hallway.

The media has no idea who the man is.
Maybe the virus didn't come from the wet market. We're probably never going to know for sure. Maybe it'll turn out that it came from a juggling elephant. Maybe it was all a Chinese bio weapon after all. I dont know. All I know is this story doesn't poke any holes into the original wet market theory if you take it at face value without jumping to a million conclusions based on the assumption that there is a cover up.

I saw that too let's hope he pulls through. He wasn't looking to good in his vlogs, his partner is pregnant and is also currently self isolating after getting symptoms. The U.K. also just posted it's biggest rise in case today. Bad day all round.

No one has to assume a cover up, we know for a fact it took place. We know that the CCP destroyed samples and silenced Doctors.
We also know that it came out before Wei on Dec 10th, so the original story of it originating there is now incorrect.

So we need more information to draw a final conclusion. Why is China not releasing any information on patient 0?
 
In my country they are already talking about making choices soon who to save and who to let die, because of a shortage in IC capacity. And it's not even crazy in my country. That is fucked up... I live in a rich country but for some reason we have very few IC beds.

I can't believe a member of the US media just asked Trump to shut down grocery stores in the US. Yes, lets have people starve to death in addition to not working.
 
After this pandemic is over, we really need to divert some defense spending on keeping these hospitals fully stocked with everything they need for another pandemic. We need to be prepared for not just another coronavirus, but for something worse. All hospitals need to have enough beds, masks, ventilators, catheters, IV bags, gloves, etc to cope with all this.

I think global warming is going to make these more frequent, with animal species migration and packing certain breeds in areas together where they weren't used to, we'll see more animal infection spreads, which eventually will make their way to humans.
 
Has anyone seen a projection that estimated the number of deaths in the US both with and without social distancing? I'm curious how bad it would be projected to be if no one was staying at home.
 
I think the only projection was 1 -2 million that Trump and Brix mentioned. With mitigation it comes down to 80-200K. I think thats a bit high if the US continues on its trends.
 
Just got a letter from the job to be able to move from one town to another. I think a strict lockdown is about to happen anytime soon now
