You saw gameplay. You did not see gameplay for every game. They never promised gameplay for every game.

When you are not the market leader, now is not the time to go with technicalities on gameplay. Not all games needed to show gameplay footage but there should be more than what was shown. Madden was a pointless section as we know it's coming to Xbox and PS. There was nothing major from it. One of the games shown today should have had a five minute playable demo (show us why we should go next gen from day one). There were a few interesting games that would have killed with gameplay and a spotlight on it.

The result aren't good.

It wasn't great that is for sure. I don't think it did any harm to the hype for the console, but it certainly didn't help build any. It shows that they're building up relationships with a large variety of studios making all different variety of games.

A lot of people are expecting graphical showcases that wow them for next generation from a 3rd party event and that is not Microsofts fault. But they get to own it because they certainly lead folks to believe this event was something it is not.

The funny thing is, Sony has always gotten shit for this. For their "cinematic games", trailers, etc., but now it seems "it's okay when we do it" narrative is starting to be on dsiplay.

The BIG problem is, current gen games like Last of Us2 and Ghost of Tsunimsha on PS4 makes these series X games look like last gen, and PS4 games look like next gen. Good thing is, there is still time to win us over....
