Microsoft Games Showcase Event Today (11am ET / 8am PT / 4pm UK)

I wonder if Sony is going to pull the same thing they did last gen, and completely capitalize on every misstep Microsoft makes. If we out of the blue tomorrow get a long cut of gameplay from one of their exclusives I'll laugh my ass off.

The last of us trailer that was released yesterday honestly looked better than anything shown here today.

I think the problems lies that Microsoft led off the intial reveal with indie titles instead of the big hitters

I can't for the life of me realise why they did

Xbox finally had the chance to widen the gap between themselves and Sony before their own event. And completely fucked it.

I understand games like Cyberpunk, Batman etc may be too hard to get footage for due to their own plans of revealing but this was like a Nintendo Indie Showcase.

Very underwhelming, hope Sony don't let us down now.
They could have shown Halo, won't until July. I understand this was 3rd party. But they didn't have to do it that way.

It was a big letdown. Self inflicted error on their part.

Hype officially derailed.... awww

seems like if you play older game but on 120 fps it becomes next gen straight away ? thats weird thinking. PC can have any game on high fps for you , so what ? does that makes them next gen. well no. i saw outdated visuals on Drit 5 right away.

Sooooooo, was this a mis-step by MS? After all the praise they've gotten along the way for their messaging, showing off trailers for third-party games was ... a choice. That they made. And put into play.

Exactly. We were promised a mind blowing leap in visual fidelity. And then we get this
Let's not pretend these aren't nearly all current gen games with just added bells & whistles. I'm afraid the shadow of the current gen will loom large over next gen for at least a year, besides maybe a few first party year one games. The fact is simply uprezzing a game is never going to look as good as a game build for the new hardware from the ground up.

Funny thing here is that people are criticising the games, well guess what they are coming to playstation to. And maybe not as good looking either with the ps5 slightly less powers. Or could be better with the super SSD

We're a few months away from next gen launch, there's no reason we can't get an alpha build from titles built for next gen from the ground up

We're not 1 or 2 years out

Dirt 5 is 120 FPS though. Yes, so lastgen, every game was 120 FPS on X360.

That was one game, the fact that Ashraf wouldn't say anything other than better loading times for AC was very disappointing. I'm sure it will be more than that of course but may lay out some specifics!! higher framerate? better draw distances? better quality textures? say something.

Pretty underwhelming to me. For a company lagging way behind this generation, I'm not sure what they hoped to gain with this. They needed to make a big splash, seems like it would have been better to just wait and have a bigger blowout reveal next month where they can hopefully show Halo Infinite and other first party games that really have a wow factor, and then show most of this stuff as the extra games on the side. I get not having E3 (as much as I hate that event) hurts the ability to have a big reveal, but they really needed to do all they can to wow people with one huge Series X reveal event where they show the best games that show off the console in the best possible light and reveal the release date and price.

Maybe they can still do that next month, but would have been better to do it all at once IMO. But maybe they just can't announce release date, price etc. yet due to supply and cost uncertainty due to Covid-19 manufacturing and distribution delays etc.
I think all they expected to gain was showing some footage for gamers hungry for next gen. Most/all these are not only cross gen games, but multiplatform games, meaning fanboys jumping on these games are literally jumping on PS5 games as well.
Maybe they thought gamers were intelligent to know what cross gen games are, we certainly had plenty of them the first couple of years this gen.

This is all 3rd-party stuff, so whatever they showed here is the best looking console version that will be available.

Wish we could have seen actual ACV gameplay. They did show some nice in-game/in-engine environments that are probably indicative of the what the game will look like. A lot more to go on than the reveal trailer which was CGI.

This 2nd pic reminds me a lot of For Honor. This game will definitely be beautiful and fun to play and roam around in the world.

What hype does cross gen breed? It just underwhelms

The lack of any big name drops killed the hype for me. Some promising games for sure but for the most part: eh.

It was an Inside Xbox event. Not a digital replacement for E3 brother. Gotta have the right expectations going in. It was only ever going to be a showcase of titles coming to Xbox Series X. The big misfire though was leading folks to believe the event was more focused on gameplay when it wasn't.

By the way, all the 'how will PC's be able to run these next gen games?' talk the last couple of months on here, well now you know why many people thought that talk was hilarious.

Zoom and it's nothing impressive, just another game from this gen. RDR2 on PC is more impressive.

Relax guys, it is about building to a climax.
The new Asscreed looks good.
Besides most studios are working harder with the lockdowns.
It will take awhile before true exclusives are shown.

No one denies both systems are powerful. It's just a stupid move for showcasing their next console with a indie game created by 1 dude.

It's as stupid as when PS4 was first showcased with Knack but luckily shortly after they showed Killzone Shadowfall which immediately looked next gen to me. Unfortunately every game shown in that stream were underwhelming graphically which is a strange way to market you next gen system.

This is a bunch of bullshit. Any studio can whip up a quick trailer to showcase how great a game is looking

WTF

Dirt 5 will be released on Xbox Series X sometime in October 2020.

??? XBOX SERIES X coming before november??

That's from the press release, which I think is written wrong?

Deep Silver Press Release said:
...launching October 2020 on Xbox Series X, PlayStation®5, PC (Steam) and the current generation of Xbox and PlayStation consoles. A Google Stadia version will be released early 2021.

Either they don't have the proper separation between PS5/Series X or they're referring to the "Smart Delivery" concept where you can buy it initially for Xbox One and "own" it for XSX but not be able to play it there until whenever the console launches (which would be weird phrasing) or (least likely IMO but it's the literal take on the text) out of the blue Codemasters confirmed an Oct launch for both new consoles.

Lmao, people all over the web are ripping Xbox a new one. I thought it was a pretty decent showing. Oh what the hell, back to current gen 🤣
Which shows the mentality of fanboys, and how entrenched they are into the 'war'. They are literally shitting on PS5 games at the same time, and dont even know it.

Amen to that! Can't wait for that ShadowStripper, TheLastSentence, LittleBigWhiner and others to pop up so I can just laugh at them at how wrong they were.

Why? They were clear that it's third party games from the offset. That message has been clear and does it not show that they are catering for all developers. Should it not be commended that they willing to back indie developers in such a way?

I've not seen anyone critising the games. We got promised gameplay unveils and got 30-60 seconds of gameplay across all the videos and mostly in engine videos two totally diffrent things.

Actually the funniest moment was from Scorn with the urinating penis thing. What the fuck?

People need to ease up on saying it was last gen (xbox360), it's not, not a hope. It was a poor showing because of doubling down on CG. Some games would have benefited from gameplay footage, you could hold back. I think AssCreed damaged itself by advertising gameplay footage. If the show ended with a 8 minute set piece to show next gen footage the show would have been viewed higher.

The fridge thing can fuck off (consumers want to buy your shit so don't laugh it off by reinforcing that it's a fridge to the casual audience) .

Thinking back to Killzone:Shadowfall on PS4 unveiling (February) and we saw a gameplay section. Sure the game itself wasn't world beating but the gameplay looked fucking next gen. This was missing here, the reason to go fuck it that's what next gen looks like... I'm in.

Did some of you had amnesia or something? All what we got the start of this gen is remasters. And yes people buy the Pro and X to enjoy the same game with better performance. Now you'll play the same game with better performance but not shill $40 or $60.

hence the issue. Bragging about a big showcase of third parties only to show off a tide of several indies and a handful of expected third party titles without any big new reveals made this a waste of time for me.

I don't care about what consoles is, i liked a few games they showed.

Guys...GUYS... Learn to eat the food, not the plate...

Yes and it was a stupid move to decide to show off 3rd party games first. It was a self inflicted move from Microsoft. Even if this was a 3rd party showing they could have showed better 3rd party games like Elden Ring, Batman, Harry Potter, Starfeild etc. But they decide to show AA games from Steam. And the only exciting cross gen game they promised with gameplay Assassin's Creed didn't have gameplay.

this looked very current gen ps4 pro/xbox one x. Barely too, you can argue HORIZON AND TLOUS 2 on pro look just as good as anything shown today on a NEXGEN SYSTEM.

I'm not sure that is a fair comparison given that that is a 1st vs 3rd/multiplat. If MS would've showcased 1st party games today your post (along with many others) might be quite different 🍻.

The fridge thing can fuck off (consumers want to buy your shit so don't laugh it off by reinforcing that it's a fridge to the casual audience) .

Yikes...nothing wrong when a company like MS or the Xbox brand can make a little fun of itself lol. If someone wants or is interested in Xbox I highly doubt the fridge meme will deter them. It might actually encourage more interest lol.

This is not how you wanna showcase your new console fort the first time when it comes to games, Microsoft dropped the ball big time. This did more harm than good looking at the reaction and the amount of dislikes the stream got. Microsoft would have been better just waiting till July, but I guess they wanted to get ahead of Sony. I think it's time Aaron Greenberg got fired, the marketing for Xbox has terrible this whole gen and it continues to be the case as we head into next gen.

Pathetic. Can´t handle some fun and have to report others posts ... oh well. Cheerio til August.

Now everything makes sense, why the Xbox Series X has an extra 2 Teraflops over the PS5. Aaron Greenberg didn't receive a new camera setup like his co-workers.

THIS

Microsoft and Sony will have their big reveals on E3 timeframe, as stated by both companies. Anything big out of that timeframe is not gonna happen. This Inside Xbox event was a nice little extra, though.
