At this point Xbox Series X games better blow everyone's minds!

Could the same not be said then of Horizon? Because that was all in-engine, and none of it was actual gameplay. But we all know how amazing that looks, right?
This a million times over.
We take it for gospel that HZ2 will look that good because, tbh not shitting on it, it seems possible. It looks like a launch title. So we believe in engine= gameplay

HB2 is the only "in-engine" content we've seen from Sony or MS that looks as good as the UE5 demo.

Unless Ninja Theory are pulling a Killzone 2, they better put up in July. This game could silence the back and forth between consoles until the next GOW

That's a really tall order. IMO

Is that supposed to be impressive for a next gen game??

You really choose the game who look like a ps4 game with a ps5 patch...

Horizon isn't a launch title, it will be next year.

But as for the visuals, the original Hellblade, despite its criticisms of the actual game, looked stunning in 4k on one x. Its perfectly possible for a closed off, corridor crawling game to contain that sort of visual fidelity on next gen, for sure.

Don't forget that Spiderman above isn't Spiderman "2". Its a very quick re-hash of the first game, visuals and all, with a few touch ups and changes. Essentially its an expanded DLC, stand alone, PS5 exclusive. I would say if you want it to look incredible, wait for the full on Spiderman 2 reveal next year. I think all they did with this really is upped a lot of visual setting sliders and increased the detail of the character models. But you're right, the first is a looker, and when you set the bar as high as games like Spiderman and TLOU2, the next gen jump seems small.

If my sneaking suspicion that the HB2 trailer was using early UE5 features to achieve the LOD are true, the. I have no doubt it'll be amazing running live.

That's why I'm sure Halo Infinity will look better. Regardless what they say that spiderman is built off of the ps4 game. With Halo its running on a brand new engine that 343 built. They are no longer constrained by using Bungie's decades old engine like they were in Halo 4 and 5. Just like Gears 5 it will be a 60fps game that has close to the visual fidelity of a game targeting 30fps and that's damn impressive.

I know all of that but i was not the one who posted spiderman morales like it was something impressive for a nextgen game.

It is barely better than a ps4 game.

Kena, an AA game from a small studio was more impressive to me...

What we have to remember is that the visual presentation of the UE5 demo was POSSIBLE on UE4, however the engine changes made it much more streamlined a process and much more optimised. Hellblade 2 has moved to UE5 now (which I'm told is a painless process) so they will have all these advantages at their disposal. Also, not that this needs to even be said, but everybody always brings up the 24fps thing the trailer was in... lol no. You don't make something look that good without a basic understanding of how hrz works. Its quite clear it was done to give it that film feel.

It seems you have a reading problem because my statement was that it looks better than ALMOST anything this gen.

The fact that you felt compelled to compare screenshots (lol) of the graphical crown jewel of the ps4 that was in development for 7 years (by Sony's best studio) to a game made by 15-20 people in 3 years actually says a lot more about the talent of Ninja Theory.

But even in that comparison (in action, not screenshots), there's so much more variety in the visuals in Hellblade (particularly in the environments and effects) it's not even funny.
And at 60 fps without any 'filmgrain' (that nobody asks for), the visuals pop and the overall image quality honestly makes TLOU2's image quality look muddy in comparison.

This doesnt mean it has better graphics overall, but Hellblade is a visual achievement in its own right.

But more importantly..look at how Hellblades story was received as opposed to TLOU2's story.
What's more important to you?

But anyway..I can't wait to compare the new Senuas Saga footage to the Horizon 2 footage. :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣variety in the visuals in hellblade get outta here with you bullcrap.
At the very least i got to play it year before you on ps4. It was a good looking game. Not great or anything.
I could compare it more to detroid rather then finger us 2. You walk on a predestined path just like in detroid.
Gameplay is very little if any. Those fights were annoying as hell and the puzzles were a joke.
It was good for what it was . A hand hold tale with hand hold mechanics.
A plagues tale shits all over this game as far as visuals and variety in location goes.

Did you play and finished the game???? I want to see proof.

Well halo has to run on a xone too and has massive battles with far more stuff on screen than spiderman especially this one who is wide open if not open world, if they fill the battlefield with npc, aliens, spaceship etc i can see the game being a looker more for a scope\shit on screen point of view than for mere raw details.

But yeah, i think it's gonna be overall better looking than spiderman morales.

Finger us 2 made me chuckle :lollipop_squinting:

I want an obscenely detailed video on the slipspace engine, showing exactly what it can do.

With regard to the... weird... hellblade comparison above:

Hellblade:
Release date: 8 August 2017
Dev time: 3 years
Dev staff: Created by a small team of just 20 people
Budget: $10 million

TLOUS2:
Release date: 19th June 2020
Dev Time: 6 years
Dev Staff: 316 people
Budget: "cost Sony at least $100 million to make, if not even more"

I mean... Come on guys. Not only is Hellblade 3 years older, but for the small budget and small dev time, coupled with short turn around, its not exactly a HUGE difference. TLOUS2 is the second best looking game of the gen for me (RDR2 first due to the fact its open world and still nearly as good upclose), but you can't compare the two like that.

Didn't bring that BS up, only proving it's a myth. Let people see actual footage instead of imaginary comparison.

RDR2 has average models and assets by the way in comparison, but great overall design.

As I've posted in other threads, developers can make wholesale cutbacks to games as much as they want including removing objects, lighting, physics, shadows, texture detail, etc. Take a look a some of the many games that were released on ps3 and ps4 simultaneously.

Halo Infinite has the biggest budget of any game ever, and has the most staff on a project of any game ever... Do people REALLY think there isn't a dedicated team making the previous gen versions based on the original Series X source files...? This is the Series X's biggest game, there is NO WAY they wont show this thing off.

Eh....? What? I was talking about Hellblade ONE versus TLOUS2, two games released...? You been on the old booze again? :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Go read the thread again and reply to the right poster who said that Hellblade 1 is better than almost all games on current gen. I'm only helping people know it's BS.

BTW, I don't drink. :lollipop_wink_tongue:

You maybe right but i still think that a game that has to run on an ancient hardware cannot be at his max potentials.

The real nextgen halo is gonna be halo 7.

Oh, no, Hellblade is a great looking game, but its not the best by a long shot. When it released though, this was 2017, you have to remember. At the time it looked incredible. A more accurate comparison to Hellblade for me would be A Plague Tale, which really does seem more like Hellblade 1.5 in terms of visuals.

343 said that the 500 milions budget was bullshit, the game has the budget of a normal high profile AAA game.

And i bet that is not gonna be close to rdr2 budget or manpower, or even ubisoft AC games manpower (1000 devs works on these titles).

But maybe i have wrong information, not sure about this.

It's fucking annoying. Yes, we get that the in-engine shots of Spiderman and Horizon were impressive. No, your games won't look like that.
What about "captured in REAL TIME on PS5" do people not understand.
The only thing that can happen to our graphics is that they get upgraded for release as usual.

I'm not saying anything, mate, Hellblade 1 looks slightly above average at best. Here, talk to him:

That's good rule, but what about games with no hud by design (like HL:Alyx) ?

Well, if the game is FPP, TPP, isometric view etc. then obviously everything showed in that perspective is what the game is. But a free-floating camera clearly states that what is being shown is not what the players will actually get to experience.

Well, even with a smaller budget this happens. Many games have had two versions worked on at the same time, and for a AAA console launch exclusive to show off your new system to potential buyers, I would be VERY shocked if there wasn't two versions.

You have to remember that captured in real time doesn't mean much, as its just the developer showing their game off in its best possible light. Scenes are usually captured/set up/lit in such a way that you will never see that during GAMEPLAY, even if the assets and engine are the same. That's just how it works, for all systems.

bro.. Hellblade is a fucking 4 hour game ... at max....

This doesn't prove anything.
I'm not saying that the game is gonna look bad or is not gonna have a better graphic than the xone x version, i 'm saying that the real exclusive next gen halo is gonna be the next one, both for graphics and ambitions.

We will see in a couple of weeks\months how much next gen this next halo really is.

The only trailer we had was kinda underwhelming for a lot of people, not only sony fanboys...

I never trust these early in-game videos - they can change anytime and *most likely* they cranked up the fidelity just to make it look good. I doubt the Spiderman Morales will look anything like those shots.

From Xbox's side - i dont care if they're silgtly worse ; i just want more diversity in games. Everyone's talkng about which looks better but let's not forget, MS need to release these kinda games in the first place, and afaik they havent even mentioned any similar open world games except Senua. So stop creaming in your panties and wait..

Dude spiderman morales is probably the only game who is gonna look exactly if not better than these screens.

Watch how spiderman look on ps4 in my previous post, the jump is minimal and not even close to the impossible realm.

The main issue isn't dropping a few settings and resolution to make things work smooth. The next gen CPU and SSD will mean you can't just port down for true next gen experiences, and things will need massive changes. That's why I'm positive that the next Halo will have a very different single player game. Multiplayer will likely be the same on both.

Porting to XboxOne took 30 years real life-game time.. her tits are bigger, background tree is bigger... and on the mountain we have several trees ..way way way in the back

As seen with Far Cry 4 things developers cant port down they just outright remove from the inferior version. See for yourself.

While not everything at the PS5 reveal was gameplay footage, that's not the same thing as pre-rendered.
DF own analysis showed these games were actually rendered and running at 4k30fps, and screenshots posted after the events seemed to confirm it.

H:I had two guys talking on a space-ship, which I assume is not the core of the game (unless we get a Halo Visual Novel).
HB2 showed a close up of a face, running at sub4K, sub 30fps, far from where it'll need to be; it's also running on an engine it won't be using by launch.
Medium showed a concept trailer which looked nice I guess, Scorn had nothing and its Early Access footage is not mind-blowing.

If I were to sum up the problems with MS strategy:
- Little gameplay or "gameplay-adjacent" footage
- Webcam-quality events
- Rehashing old info instead of the supposed XBox 20/20 "moments"
- Overreliance on "power" as their main marketing (something that already failed the X1X)
- Having less hype from their previous gen's efforts
The more inside baseball criticism might be their forced cross-gen dev, or what the fuck is going on with Lockhart, but the above anyone can see.

These should be addressed in July, but it's annoying for marketing that was supposed to be far ahead of the competition to tell everyone "please wait".

Making 2 completely different games seems the only solution to have a real next gen halo but i ask you isn't making 2 different games a giant waste of money and resources, especially if the games are totally different in their core mechanics (thanks to ssd and cpu upgrade)

And i know i said this in the past and people was not on the same boat, but isn't spitting on the face of xone owners if halo infinite is literally a worst game in every aspect compared to the sex version??

I mean sony believe in generation so they don't give a fuck about pissing off ps4 people who can't play horizon 2 or the next spiderman, but microsoft want all his customers to be happy, both on old and next gen console and making a far worst version of their most hyped game doesn't look like a smart move in this context.

But again, who knows what their plans are...

Mate I understand the principle, lol. But the problem is that while I can use lower LOD's or lower textures, or disable effects or drop the resolution, or hell... Even just straight up remove things... If your game is built around the ultra fast SSD streaming of next gen consoles and uses the full power of the new CPU's, you just can't downscale that. You can easily get that up and running with no issues on Lockhart, but NOT PS4/Xbox one S, not even Xbox One X/PS4 Pro. So things would have to be totally remade in some cases, and in others not even possible.

You essentially need to see it as marketing. You want to not piss off your existing fanbase who can't upgrade, but at the same time want to give the people who just dropped half a grand on your new hardware a unique experience. So yes, making two games is a pain, but its also worth it. Its also VERY common, as every console launch has done the same. The core mechanics will vary per game, of course.

Your concerns about Microsofts strategy are duly noted.

Yup!
People tend to bring up PC Gaming for ports, but they have a long and proud history of absolutely trash ports, even from major studios, because of technical issues and insufficient optimization.

Supporting X1 is bananas, but even Lockhart could have serious issues if dev time does not allow for enough focus.
The worry is its far smaller audience could make it a "second class console" in terms of optimization and QA.

First ask yourself; did Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet & Clank, Returnal and Spiderman honestly 'blow your mind' or 'look like they skipped a gen'?

Then ask yourself; if MS showed the same quality but at double the frame rates + better resolution, would you give them credit?
HFW definitely is a leap over next-gen.

That being said, if MS would show real-time footage of that quality, with the same graphical fidelity and a massive open world like that, I'll give them credit if they can run it at locked 60fps at native 4K.

I highly doubt it though.

Edit:

Given that Hellblade 2 will likely be a lineair game again, it can't be compared with HFW directly.
