Oh yeah don't get me wrong, I agree, I don't think the heat coming out of the SX is an issue at all; why would they have knowingly sent out a hundred odd consoles for hands on with a known heat issue. If anything this would possibly raise more concerns about PS5 given the amount of heat a GPU clocked as high as it can go will generate but obviously with such a large console they must've gone for a robust cooling solution. We'd know more by now except no tear down so (shrug).

Report on rumors is ok but presenting them as the ground truth is bad. I remember when a report came out that PS5 had overheating issue and failures.
Absolutely. Reports almost exclusively on rumours circulated on twitter and reddit, and thinks that by adding "take this with a grain of salt" he's absolved of spreading absolute non-sense.
I think part of the PS5 size is the second SSD problem. It is going to generate a ton of heat in the case with 2 super fast ssd's. The Microsoft card if you look carefully hooks right into the cooling system its pretty great design. Sony uses volume with big fans to keep it silent. I could careless silent cooling is what matters.

People always quick to forget how failure prone those first revision PS1s were with the shitty lazer assembly. Awesome console but sucked going through them like water. Especially since I had dual stations set up back then side by side for me and the crew.
If it is not water or phase cooled and no hot air is venting I would be worried. Last time that happened fan on my one x died console saved its self thermal shutdown. Those 300 watts need to go somewhere.
Hell almost every single PS console launch models were terrible. The plastic laser eye rail on the PS1, the disk read errors of the PS2, the YLOD of the PS3. The PS4 is the first one of theirs that hasn't had massive problems. They lost multiple class actions over the ps2, and would likely have with the ps1 and 3 if anyone ever tried.

Instead of a external card inside the PS5 you can add a SSD but only the fastest out there Sony will certify and they will run hot. They need to account for the hottest SSD'S out there in cooling the console.

Oh sorry I'm with you, I thought you meant it had two by default. On that point, though; is there any kind of size uniformity for SSDs? Or are they usually small enough that it won't be a concern? Obviously the proprietary one MS has is pretty small so I'd assume they aren't very big but I'm not sure myself.
