This one looks like it has a singular story. Their choice in how they handled storytelling prevented me from playing Octopath.

Yup. They've been on a roll doing this for Octopath, and Bravely Default. Its the best way to ensure us customers get exactly what we want. They basically are taking a page from the PC CRPGs that use early access like Divinity, Baldurs Gate, and Pathfinder.
