Given another chance
Solid 60fps PS5
Drops on PC, sometimes in mid to high 40s.
Unified system design is really helping out the PS5 here, thereby negating any kind of bottle necks.

It's a bug, they'll fix it soon.Damn, tools haven't arrived on PC yet.

Started as a very poor port and is currently a mediocre port.I never understood why this game in particular performs so poorly on PC. I know it's been created with PS4 in mind and all that, but so was Days Gone and I don't remember people complaining about its performance. Maybe something engine-related, since Days Gone uses UE4, while Decima was created for PS4, but Death Stranding uses Decima like Horizon and seems to get along with most PCs. I still don't get what makes Horizon so demanding on PC.

The reasons are in fact explained rather extensively in the video i think..I never understood why this game in particular performs so poorly on PC. I did.. He's full of shit with his comparison. He's a big PS fanboy that always tries to paint their consoles in the best light compared to anything else. You didn't watch the video, did you? Michael is using an overclocked RTX 2070 (equivalent to a 2070 Super) and it dips hard even at 1440p, which is fewer NATIVE pixels than the 2160p checkerboard of PS5. PS5 is crushing that card both performance and resolution wise, which doesn't always happen if we compare other games.
Can't remember too well when I played HZD on PC, but I don't remember it having a DLSS or FidelityFX.
But I do remember when Playing Death Stranding on PC, you had the DLSS option or FidelityFX.
Not sure if that would make a deference in the performance with the Decima engine for HZD on PC.

He's also really terrible at talking about things like as if they are facts... when he's merely guessing.

I don't agree someone who speaks about things he can't possibly know... as if he does..WOW! Something tells me you don't like Michael too much. I don't know, call it intuition.![]()

This game enjoys AMD hardware however if it had raytracing the tables would be turned 2070s would beat the ps5 gpu.You didn't watch the video, did you? I dont recall him mentioning terrible port job.The reasons are in fact explained rather extensively in the video i think..
Yup, I spent I don't know how much time fiddling with the settings, sometimes it got great performance with a very nice level of details... then the next time I loaded the game it went down, so I end back and fiddled the details level, resolution, etc. It was still much better than on a PS4 PRO.I never understood why this game in particular performs so poorly on PC. So now I gave up on the PC version, I'm just playing the upgraded PS5 version, too bad I can't transfer my progress from the PC game.
I made most progress on PC, so I go back quite a bit when load my console save.Did you have to start all over again on PS5? Wow, that sucks!
Ooooh I see NXG is popular enough to get the DF treatment on here nowHe's full of shit with his comparison. He's a big PS fanboy that always tries to paint their consoles in the best light compared to anything else.

I believe horizon has a unique dynamic generation of assets probably unlike the others.I never understood why this game in particular performs so poorly on PC. I don't know about fanboyism but he's definitely barking up the wrong tree there. Like, pixel fillrate hasn't mattered for almost a decade and bringing PCIe bandwidths into question just screams that he doesn't have much experience with computers.I did.. Did you even watch the video are you trolling? They'd have to redesign the code and engine for it to work better on PC. Enormous waste of dev time.Damn, tools haven't arrived on PC yet.

Is he still using an RTX 2070 paired with a frikken 2700?He speaks like PC is only one hardware setup. I think my PC would murder that game.
Yeah 2700 is zen+ and terrible for gaming. Is he still using an RTX 2070 paired with a frikken 2700?
A system thats well below current gen machines in terms of raw horsepower.
Is it at all surprising games run like shit on his system when he maxes them out?
He's just comparing it to similarly powered PC parts. Everybody knows that PC always win these comparisons, graphics and performance, if you're willing to open the wallet. I'm so glad that Guerrilla did the patch though, it runs smoother on my PC but I have the 50% playthrough save on my PS5 so that's where I'm playing itHe speaks like PC is only one hardware setup. Yeah it's still 2700 hahaha.
2070 maybe close to PS5 performance on paper but some PC games are better optimized than others and Horizon even after patches is not great.
Same. Well at least the vid gave me a good chuckle. Add some comments from this thread for desert and you get a good laughI don't get any drops on my PC.
What is your spec though? Are his specs closer to what the average / mid specs gamer may have/I don't get any drops on my PC.
He's running a 2070. That's weaker than a PS5. I'm running it on a 3080 and can lock it at 60 with no drops. What is your spec though? Are his specs closer to what the average / mid specs gamer may have/
I am not sure about the poi you are making here. Is your HW or his setup closer to a PS5 on PC raw specs based or better closer to the setup a midrange gamer would have? He's running a 2070. That's weaker than a PS5. I'm running it on a 3080 and can lock it at 60 with no drops.
Yea and high settings and double resolution too. Ps5 runs ps4 pro code, i believe, at half 4k and medium settings. He's running a 2070. That's weaker than a PS5. I'm running it on a 3080 and can lock it at 60 with no drops.
He's running it on a card that's slower than the PS5. It's not a fair comparison. He'd need to run it on a 2080 or 2080 Super to have an equal comparison to the PS5, and in 2021 a 2080 is hardly considered high end anymore.I am not sure about the poi you are making here. I still think in 2021 the 2080 is still not the mid tier / average GPU so without askingHe's running it on a card that's slower than the PS5. It's not a fair comparison. The drops were experienced when testing at around 1440p too right (which compares to the native resolution before CB on PS5, right?).Yea and high settings and double resolution too. Ps5 runs ps4 pro code, i believe, at half 4k and medium settings.
The individual in op vid was running a pc lower specced than a ps5. Older gen CPU as well as weaker gfx card. 2070 only beats ps5 with RT as was evident in WD2.The drops were experienced when testing at around 1440p too right (which compares to the native resolution before CB on PS5, right?).
