I think this equals out with used discs on PlayStation. Ebay and Craigslist are mostly littered with used PS games shortly after the release.Steam and Epic get their cut out of every sale and it makes far less money to sell on PC than a single sale on the PS platform.
Cmon bro, you can't really believe that. You mean God of War, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Spiderman were never meant to make huge money. What?.....NO. Just NO.

Pretty sure the cheese here is entry price and ease of use. Most of their money comes from 3rd party sales, MTX and subscription... how are they going to get these to increase by giving away what attracts people to the platform?
Exclusives are the cheese in the trap..... without the cheese, it's just a trap.
PlayStation makes very little of their money from 1st party.... you just do not understand how big PlayStation is and how they make their money.

Going by that logic someone who bought a Playstation and every single 1st party exclusive isn't a Playstation customer either lolDigital software AND ADD ON..... mostly MTX and 3rd party games. 1st party makes next to nothing of that.
That is correct. But it's still millions of dollars left on the table.
No company can afford to lose this amount of money, for no reason.
Releasing games on PC, increases profits, increases brand awareness and fan base.
It's a win-win for Sony. And even for PS users.
Only fanboys can't understand this, because they can't stand the thought of other people having fun.
Ever since Jim Ryan took over it is like he has to relive this moment over and over....
It's good, but it's old and kind of repetitive because it was ND's first attempt. I'd still recommend it to know the characters/story and the franchise's history. Is Uncharted 1 really that bad? I've only played 2 and Legacy, and enjoyed them both. I'm a sucker for these "Indiana Jones travels the world on adventures" types of games, especially right now when actually travel is almost impossible. I'm ready to give 1 a chance.
I agree... they'd have to buy way more. At least a subscription to PS+ and 2 or more other games per year. I have about 360 games... so I'd say I qualify, just about.Going by that logic someone who bought a Playstation and every single 1st party exclusive isn't a Playstation customer either lol
Not if people only buy used exclusives and no subscription/3rd parties which many people with a Pc as their mainplatform do. Sony doesn't need/want those people. Worst case: I get a PS5 with used games only and have a broken controller or some other warranty issue. Sony loses money on me. With Sony games on pc they make money with those people. Of course they lose some customers to Pc, but i think it's worth it and so does Sony. You still need a PS to play it. The value is kept within the platform.
Except that's not really how it works... I bought a Switch for Mario and Zelda but I bought loads of other games just because I had it and... why not?Not if people only buy used exclusives and no subscription/3rd parties which many people with a Pc as their mainplatform do. If they clarified that it was just last gen games and that they would not do for current gen. The reason being that it was for preservation and some extra profit...I could rationalize that. But without this clarification.... I'm afraid it is war!
They will do that with current-gen games as well. But after 2-3 years for most games. By then, sales on PS would have died and a sequel would be incoming (we'd already have seen the trailers). It makes sense to increase the fanbase then and get some more revenue to fund more PS games. If they clarified that it was just last gen games and that they would not do for current gen. Uncharted2 single player was my most favourite, I loved it, one of those games with the "WOW" factor, I was impressed, best tech/graphics at that time and great action, unforgettable. I also liked a lot number 3, but non as much as U2, even though MP in U3 was great, I was totally addicted to it, but this is another story, not in the collection. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was challenging on Crushing, more than the other two, and totally sick on BrutalUC1 was boring, but that's mainly because I played it in 2017 so it was underwhelming compared to other games I played.
UC2 was great. Definitely my favorite.
UC3 was good. Not as good as UC2 but still very much worth playing.
UC4 was boring. I played it immediately after finishing the trilogy, so maybe I was tired of the formula. The 30 fps didn't help (the trilogy was 60 fps).
Also props to Sony for releasing all the games together for 60 bucks or so. Nintendo wouldn't do this.
Doubt. Had my PS4 only for exclusives and why should a pc gamer buy 3rd parties in worse quality and pay for online gaming? Switch ok, for the mobile concept, but PS? Don't think so.Except that's not really how it works... I bought a Switch for Mario and Zelda but I bought loads of other games just because I had it and... why not?
In the vast majority of cases, buying a console makes you feel the impulse to buy more software.
I disagree, 3 years is too little. Nintendo games sell quite well for at least 5 years and maximizing PS sales should be at least 5 maybe more in my opinion. They will do that with current-gen games as well. But after 2-3 years for most games. By then, sales on PS would have died and a sequel would be incoming (we'd already have seen the trailers). It makes sense to increase the fanbase then and get some more revenue to fund more PS games.
As long as it's not day and date, I'm good with this. Also, we this 2-3 years cadence, there will always be 7-13 games that would be PlayStation exclusive at any point in time.
The Uncharted games are almost literally the same thing with a prettier coat of paint and another ho-hum comic book story with each iteration. You play the latest, you’ve basically played them all. I didn’t bother with 3 after 1 and 2, and 1 was already lackluster in 2012 when I bought a PS3. Making them $20 each in this day and age would be ridiculous. They were supposed to be first and foremost a tech showcase for Sony’s hardware, the gameplay was never going to hold up in time. Also props to Sony for releasing all the games together for 60 bucks or so. Your argument is more sound than some people will give you credit for. Many reasons, the industry is becoming so homogeneous and boring due to the lack of exclusives.
Exclusives are PlayStations biggest strength and now they are giving them away, this is an indicator that competition has failed and that Sony no longer feel compelled to provide compelling exclusive content.
For instance, we lost MLB exclusivity, Mm is not making new exclusives, we lost access to Zenimax games in the future and several studios were downsized or shuttered.
The response to these losses has not been to buy a few or even many talented studios to compensate PS customers but to give away the remaining exclusives we have...... despite the fact we are paying MORE now than ever and Sony are more profitable than they have ever been.
Meanwhile we have to look at Xbox buying every damned studio they can get their hands on.
Nintendo NEVER put their games on PC and reinforced the mental connection between Mario, Zelda and their other franchises and their consoles.... they started by bundling Mario bros with every Nes, then the 3rd game sold 17 million on its own. Now it sells 40+ million and moves hardware.....unfortunately PlayStation management never had the patience and never provided the proper marketing to make such an impact.
Now Horizon is just a multiplat.... the prestige is gone.
Limiting access and making these games a privilege of buying into PlayStation hardware gives these games prestige and increases their perceived value. Putting them on PC, does the opposite.

The three Mario games of the 3D collection were at least very different from each other, and still excellent to play (I don’t like Sunshine, but many people do). Nintendo is greedy, that’s a given, but the comparison is weaker than you think imo.
1 is an old game, and not very entertaining.
I don’t understand how people compare Uncharted to Indiana Jones. I so much wished for the series to be about adventure, but it’s just Sony‘s reply to Gears. Indiana Jones barely drew his gun in 4 movies, Drake has a shootout waiting for him around every corner.

Still, these games are old now. Except for Nintendo, console exclusives make a lot of sense when they’re new, but they usually don’t have legs. Especially a sequel-heavy series like Uncharted, where the newest installment has shinier graphics making for 90% of the reason why you should buy the latest game. At the moment, Uncharted is not how Sony want to push PS5 sales, and I doubt most PS users at the moment give a damn about the IP.
Not until the pc version runs its course sales wise. Common man, where you’re head at!?!And a 60fps PS5 version when?
But a PC gamer would just play all the non-exclusive games on PC instead. If he were to get a Playstation it'd be only for the exclusives. And if buying only exclusives on PSN makes you just as much of a non-customer as buying them on PC, then what harm is there in selling them on PC in the first place?I agree... they'd have to buy way more. At least a subscription to PS+ and 2 or more other games per year. I have about 360 games... so I'd say I qualify, just about.

Thanks, i forgot the much better controls in almost any aim-related or simulation game on Pc, mods and the ability to chat with people rather than hear 6 year old kids talk. You can use a controller on Pc as well. But in the end we can only assume and we disagree. To avoid cheaters and for the large online communities in certain games. Along with bonuses and exclusives in 3rd party games.
Fighting games for instance are usually better experiences on console IMO.

It's all true, however there is a PC crowd that won't jump onto consoles no matter what, and vice versa, there are people who will never give up the comfy couch experience, so at the end of the day I don't Sony will lose much, if anything, even if they start releasing their games on day 1. But this way they can at least reach the crowd that's not interested in their ecosystem.
And I have seen the complete opposite thing happening. PC gamers who have a PS4 beside their PC with just Bloodborne. Anecdotal evidence is worthless. no matter what side you're on.Not how I have observed things happening... I have seen PC gamers have a PS4 beside their PC with Sekiro, MK11 and several exclusives too along with many other 3rd party games.
I know it is compelling to give this example of someone buying a console and one game but it doesn't bear out in reality.... they always buy more and often 3rd party despite having a PC.

And who the hell would choose to play Sekiro on PS4 if they had a semi-decent gaming PC? That game had crazy frame drops even on PS4 Pro.
And it's not complete, there is not the PSVita game.
you do not buy a company like Nixxes if you are not going to port your AAA tier games to PC.
