One of the better things about working in Chinese offices is the lack of office politics. But in recent years I've seen it start to creep in with the "China #1 generation", but they are really bad at it and easy to catch out.

i dunno, we have a sociopath boss (he's famous lite) but he's usually travelling around the country meeting clients and stuff, in our office we're, genuinely, too busy/focused to develop complex biases against one another

I have the luxury of owning the entirety of the function I'm in (except for the VP I report to) and just letting the work speak for itself. My boss and I get along great. He's told the board I'm batting 1.000 since I started, which I am. Most other people either don't know what my team and I do or don't care, we're the only function that doesn't even need to be in the office…the majority of our meetings are offsite anyway.

I think the saddest ones were earlier this year, when a slew of seemingly cool people decided to bail just because they couldn't abide by people with different views from them posting. They weren't even deranged conspiracy theorists or anything like that. Ah well, c'est la vie.
