First good fatality in years by Smoke, key is to key the body intact by absolutely ravaged.
It's too bad they made Smoke look like a lesbian, bring back his long flowly hair, he needs to look otherworldly.
Music was also a poor choice, didn't sound like Mortal Kombat, more like Mortal Combat.

It's current year. Probably non-binary lunacy.

I'm getting old, the fatalities are becoming really hard to watch. Like way too violent with the more realistic graphics. I dunno. Feels a bit cringe.

I really don't like the art direction of this game.

Seems like all the characters lack personality. Yes, they're unique in their fighting style, but their design is just.. ehh.

There is something very boring about the designs, it's missing the extravagance of the outfits, looks too plain, grounded and oddly soft.

I would be more excite if it didnt have the " TAG IN HELPER" aspect. IDK I am just not feeling that for some reason ATM.

This is the only fighting game I like to play to finish thr story and enjoy the combat.
I love tekken story and gameplay but I don't play much after the story. Unlike mortal kombat

Which why I didn't buy street fighter 6 yet. Waiting for it to be dirt cheap

Oddly enough, Liu Kang looks great while everyone else is kind of eh. The problem is they don't really commit to new designs but just do slight remixes. The ninjas have been suffering from it for awhile since they started running away from the classic ninja outfits.

I like everything I've seen in this trailer. The music is awesome too.

And I didn't expect to say this, this far into the series, but holy shit that grenade fatality.

Frost in the classic costume.....hopefully shes actually playable and not only a Kameo.

The more I see Kameos and what characters are Kameos, the more it makes me wish Kameos didn't exist. Also that they were just included into the character roster, instead.

Damn this game looks A-freaking-mazing!

Hopefully the Switch version looks and runs as decent as (or better than) MK11.

it's not so much the violence that bores me so much as the same tired mechanic of putting in a button sequence and watching the same pre-rendered animation every time. the x ray attacks are also super gimmicky and interrupt the flow of the match even though everyone's see them once, seen them a million times, i don't see how this is a redeeming gameplay element for anyone who plays the game more than a few matches.

it's a shame they don't allow some form of kreate-a-fatality from mk armageddon which imo was a true step toward progression of MK because MK was always about its fatalities and shock value, disappointing of the developers to chase traditional fighting game mechanics to keep up with other tournament fighters and sacrifice artistic integrity.

SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKE!

I have a friend who I talked to about this, she basically said that it felt like since MK11, they shifted the art style from hyper-stylized MK characters in MK 9 & MK 10, to basically cosplayers in MK 11 and now this game.

With a few exceptions, a lot of the characters looks like normal people in cosplay as MK characters.

Really? Not brutal enough imo. Honestly at this point it's repetitive and boring. My favorite thing about the new MK's are the brutalities. I find them much more impactful. I think it would be neat if the final hit on any attack would be some sort of obvious killing blow.

Ah man this looks awesome. I skipped 11, but I think I'll get this one. Does MK still use a dedicated block button?

Yeah, it does. That likely will never change; and with all the crazy side switching teleport moves in the series, that's probably for the best.

Can you block from behind? I saw some crazy things in MK1 where there were attacks coming from both sides.

Holding the block button will block attacks from all sides, yes. You still have to be wary of blocking high/low attacks appropriately with standing or crouching block, though.

It will sell well but the art direction in this game is utter dogshit 😂 It's so fucking generic.

Of all the avenues they could have taken with a reboot this looks to be among the least appealing.

Smokes entrance is also atrocious.

I don't necessarily mind the cosplay look since classic MK was bad cosplay and so it feels a bit nostalgic but sometimes they go too far with them looking plain. Sonya is the biggest example of this. They keep bringing her UMK3 outfit back but without a Kerri Hoskins-like figure to put it on it ends up looking awful. The guys tend to fare better, Jax looks great for example, but a lot of the female characters tend to suffer. I'm not saying they need to go back to MK9's pornstar ladies but a higher level of attractiveness would go a long way in making the cosplay-look more appealing and less like the Avengers washed up showtime actors.

In the West, it is not allowed to make women look attractive

What really gets me is the entire cutscenes they insert into the middle of fights instead of between them. It's ridiculous. Who in their right mind thinks "You know what the fights need - more interruption of the fights"?

I also don't like new Smoke's look, but at least he's back.

I still don't get the kameo moves, are the kameos tag partners jumping in and out, or are they a set/selectable extension to the moveset to add variety?

Are talking about the xray moves as "cutscenes" cuz pretty much every super move in most video games is a move you initiate then basically watch.
If you are talking about the intros....well yes thats a cutscene buts its just the intro to the fight, from the demo they are skippable once the stage has loaded in.
If you are talking about fatalities.....i got nothing for you.

Worse still if you are talking about the story mode cutscenes.....whats wrong with you?
MKs story mode is the only reason I even care about this game, i suck way too much to actually play this competitively but the storymode is ace....and yes, they switch from cutscene to gameplay to cutscene pretty much seamlessly......that should be a boon not a negative.

As for the kameos they are extensions to your fighters moveset.
If you need a move to get you out of trouble quickly with a back step you select scorpion as your kameo fighter as one of his kameo moves will pull you back near half screen.
Maybe you just need an extra juggle in your arsenal, then pick kano.
You pick the kameo fighter who adds something you might be missing with your selected fighter or just something that really helps your fighting style.

I actually think it's the perceived impact of the hits. They don't feel very weighty relative to the over-the-top animations.
