Massive FTC Leak: Mid Gen Xbox Hardware, Series S/X Refreshes, New Controller, and Game Plans!

Look at their game timeline and how off they have been.

They were planning to launch Starfield's DLC in FY'22. They ended up releasing the main Starfield game at the end of 2023.

So all that shit about no mid gen was just a lie.
And they killed off physical

It's not a mid-gen refresh as far as power goes. It's not a pro version for Xbox. It's an all digital Series X with a couple extra little bells and whistles.

This documentation seems to be quite a number of years old, so quite a bit of it might no longer be true though. Plans do change, and can change quickly.

I hope the upcoming games list is true though. Oh, and the controller, day one for me (to be used on PC of course).

I wonder if they'll let people buy external BD drive (just like Sony) if they'll need one, cuz it looks like they're just removing BD drive to cut the cost and leave the price the same. I mean, you can't force people to buy games digitaly, especially if 3rd party have no plans to abdandon physical media. There must be a choice while it's still available.

If Sony increases PS5 pro power then how will they compete?
based on end of 24 release date for ps5 pro and a possible price cut for slim ps5 around same times
series consoles will be much more of an obscurity than they are now.
hope these plans have changed since.

Well that's one way to start the morning...holy shit. Dishonored 3 and Oblivion remaster? Sign me right the fuck up. It was obvious that a midgen refresh would come, even though Phil said otherwise. Wouldn't be the first time. Kinda like the trashcan design lol, curious how the S refresh looks like. However I'm not getting any refreshers, rather just save the money and invest in next gen instead.
Edit: I just realized this isn't a pro console after all. Hmm.

That's too bad refresh is only digital. Got too many physical disks (mostly Xbox OG and 360, but not only that) to upgrade.

Also can't wait to see Fallout 3 and Oblivion remakes/remasters/whatever.

Edit: Oh damn, missed Ghostwire Tokyo sequel. That's great news, I actually liked the first game. And of course Dishonored 3 will be great to see (just don't Redfall it).
They will force you to go digital. This is the way - slowly, but surely.

Also - Oblivion remaster, keep that 💩, hands off from Morrowind

Dishonoured 3 - meh, it's a good game, but a huge step back to Thief (then again everything is a step back to Thief)

So I guess haptics, gyro and rechargeable battery will become GREAT features rather than 'nah, we don't need them to play mah xbox games, also they eat mah batteries' features??

Finally we can enjoy the digital only future.
F*** those grandpas who like physical media. The future is now.

About time that the games get cheaper.
Oh wait.

Gimmicks will always be gimmicks. They should instead include at least 2 back buttons as standard and push controller design forward. It's the same basic layout since PS1 days. Game are way more complex, we need more buttons.

Looks okay. Most exciting thing about this is that they'd finally add gyro to their controllers imo.
This and Ghostwire Tokyo sequel for me... That would also mean that X-input will finally have gyro support for better third party compatibility. It's shit that Switch + PC controllers have to disable gyro when in X-input mode because it doesn't support it

That game list..... it's not exciting to me at all. Only interesting standouts are the Indiana Jones game and Doom Zero year.... I know people are going to be hyped for Elder Scrolls but from Bethesda's last few releases, it's clear to me that they no longer make good games.

Eh,i thought they dont care and are not in the business of selling hardware and software?

Seems weird launching a new hardware tho
That's obviously just marketing talk to deflect from more HW and SW sales. They are not in the business because they don't do well.

The moment they start doing it well, they will start talking about it again. Just like Nadella started celebrating that Xbox Series consoles beat PS5 in 3 consecutive quarters in the US last year.

All digital?

You fucked up Microsoft....

Like the design, like the controller but no disk drive is just a big nope from me.

Looks like there is deffo no pro.

Is there gonna be some strange add on that adds a disk?

Seems to just be a 6nm refresh of their current SoCs which I find very disappointing. Was hoping there would be a XSS2 and XSX2 around the ~4 year mark. Seeing how this is the same $499 price as launch after 4 years I now fully expect the PS5 Pro to be $799 or so.

Can't wait to hear Xbox fans wax poetic about the haptics after years spent downplaying the features on the DualSense, should be fun! Anyway, if you guys possess nerve endings in your hands you'll finally understand what a huge difference good haptics add to the overall experience.

I'm not sure what the context of these are. It could be one of several roadmaps being pitched. Maybe I'm missing something.

If Sony increases PS5 pro power then how will they compete?

Yeah I don't think they can. Just imagine if Wolverine releases next year with amazing graphics on the PS5 Pro. It'll give the PS5 Pro a real wow factor which Xbox will struggle to compete with. And the Pro will be the go to console for all third party games.

Microsoft are probably hoping that their services and the games their first party will release will be enough to pull many people into the ecosystem and sell consoles. But it doesn't look great tbh. Sony will have a console that will completely outclass theirs for third party and I think Sony will still remain more attractive for 1st party games to the majority of people, at least for the next few years or so.

Things can change, but Phil's recent statements align with them not doing a Pro.

Also, they seem to have finalized designs of their consoles. They won't throw all that effort out for nothing.

We know from patents back in 2018 that they work on gyro, haptic etc. but for me it's probably nothing same as in DS.

Great to read about DS3

You guys don't think they have multiple plans? Seriously think they don't have a "pro" console being developed in case Sony releases one? Anyhow, interesting, I thought it was fake at first......is this verified in any way?

Gyro & haptics I could give two shits about.

The difference between MS & Sony controllers have always been the swappable batteries. Which is still a feature on the new controller as noted in the leak.

People are really dumb enough to think there will be Pro consoles at €799 huh?

A mid-gen refresh like this is the best we'll get until next gen.

Sony will likely release something similar, like a Slim that will nullify this effort from Xbox.
Xbox should've released this edition instead of the Series S. This is just pointless.

All digital on console is a joke. Didn't they just shut down 360 store recently? Thanks for preserving games, I guess.

All of this sounds like a little too late effort into the gen, no?
All digital Series X at same price (wat), new controller w haptics. Wierd to launch it mid gen tbh.
