Massive FTC Leak: Mid Gen Xbox Hardware, Series S/X Refreshes, New Controller, and Game Plans!

Well, since we're not allowed to make a separate topic about it, I guess let's talk about that Zenimax output.

New Doom but surprisingly no new Wolfenstein. Machine Games are all hands on deck on Indiana Jones.

Unless Project Platinum and/or Kestrel are a Wolfenstein game.

Wonder when Doom Year Zero will get officially revealed, TGA or next E3 ?

Seems like there's a third SKU codename Uther which lets you colorize the "new" Series X in the Xbox Design Lab (XDL). That's the only difference from Brooklin though.

Where do you see new DOOM? DOOM Year Zero & DLC?

Its DOA launching in the same window as the PS5 Pro

But like I said in another thread get ready for the whole "Get a PC to compete with the PS5 Pro" campaign
Tbh, I'll probably get it. I am all digital anyways and the design looks sick as fuck. Even though I have a really powerful PC I'll get it for the looks.

But yea, if the PS5 Pro is actually more powerful, then they're fucked.

Based on the image it says it's supposed to be FY23, but it would have been announced by now, even if their fiscal years run into the next calendar ones.

Covid delays likely pushed all of these a year or more ahead of their original projections.

Covid really delayed everything by18 months to 2 years?

How is Elder Scrolls 6 coming out FY24 if it's 5+ years away. I do not know who to trust anymore lol.

These documents are year(s) old.

It still lists Starfield as FY21.

Everything there is delayed 1, 2 or more years since that slide was created.

Series X and S has been a disaster. If they are thinking about launching a 'mid-gen' refresh, they need to think again. I own a Series X but don't really cut it on because with the exception of Starfield, what are the recent GOOD exclusives?

There's not for you. It's not for you if you already have one.

If you don't see any reason for a company to make money then there's obviously no hope in reason.
I doubt many people care about the company saving money on production. We care about appealing products and looking around, these refreshes aren't that.

The current Series X looks so much better than this cylinder. Also, RIP to all the people who were still buying physical.

So all that shit about no mid gen was just a lie.
And they killed off physical
And Spencer also stated that the Series X was still at the beginning of its life cycle. This isn't a pro console, so he wasn't wrong in the statements he made, unless I'm missing something. I don't think a hardware refresh to take the same machine and downscale it was ever off the table for MS.

I would not be surprised if that new Series X model was going to replace the series s.

Told people on here, once Xbox can scrap the series s they will do so because they did the same thing with the Xbox one and Xbox one S models during last Gen.
They already have a model to replace the Series S. The Series X?

Edith = Series S
Starkville = Series X

"Last chance Edith 512GB @$199 as Black Friday offer before EOL"

This is their plans.

It is what it is.

it does seem unlikely that the ftc, which does anti trust trials daily would make this mistake. like this isn't their first time going to court over anti competitive practices

So, there's nothing actually wrong with the hardware...they just need games. That even Phil admits.

I think he said that it's at the beginning of the end of its life cycle, a small difference.

This is really old, pre 2020 , it seems

So take everything with a huge grain of salt

If the PS5 Pro actually has more powerful hardware than the the Xbox Refresh (which is literally just a Series X in a different body with a few none power additionals) then it is probably DOA. This is just a fancy Game Pass machine.

Old but very likely true, everything in the roadmap till the end of FY22 is out or confirmed things.

The dates, of course, are not valid cause no one expected the entire world to grind to a halt for a year+.

You lose the disc drive.

You gain an extra 1tb of storage
The new controller in the box.

It seems this may have a faster SSD as well from the more io lanes part.
Yeah, but raw power is same. Xbox fucked themselves by making the Series S the lowest common denominator and forcing devs to make games for that system. Introducing a 3rd SKU with higher specs than Series X will just cause more problems, because then they would need to accompany for a 3rd set of different hardware. Sony can actually allow themselves to make a new more powerful system.

Probably, but I think they are trying to cost reduce their beasts, I do not think they are going all-in and integrating something as custom as what Sony put in the SoC die.
I would have thought it would provide a cost reduction on a new 6nm node, as they'll likely get more chips per wafer than the current design when it presumably has too many wires keeping the size big because of the existing memory controller setup. Whereas I would think a unified controller would allow them to make a bigger size reduction. And I would also think it would save them money on power in their game cloud server setup by higher memory and disk throughput per watt, and make it easier for Xbox to make all consoles as Series X and just degrade with a hypervisor to make a new series S, too. Effectively halving the APU designs they get fabbed and saving money on eliminating costly duplicated processes for the different S and X designs, and the costs of trying to keep inventory matched to each console's demand.

Personal choice.

It will me, I haven't purchased an Xbox disc since last gen.
Yeah, the 2TB internal, USBC and Wifi 6 and controller upgrades are pretty nice too. Hopefully the redesign keeps dust out a bit better too.

If someone was buying a new console or upgrading say the Series S then yeah I agree but its highly unlikely very many current Series X owners would trade in for this new model.
Depends on the trade-in value deals we see. I'll certainly do it with a good deal. I don't use my disc drive at all.

Looking at the sales figures of PS4 and Xbox One the PS4 Pro and One X didn't move the needle sales wise. If Microsoft believe they have the best software line up then that's what really sells consoles.

It's just another option then. I'll be buying a Switch 2 next year anyway so the last thing I'd want to spend money on is another Xbox.

I honestly recall people asking for a digital Series X in a lot of the Series S discussion threads on here. I think they wanted it for $400, but looks like they're increasing memory and the controller instead.
