I think even Monolith has declined in narrative quality over the years. Xenogears and Xenosaga are much stronger in this respect than Xenoblade 1, which is itself much stronger than Xenoblade 2-3.
I don't think much is gonna top those 2. Especially since Xenoblade series is mostly anime God Slayer RPGs. I think of the 3 Xeno 1 is probably the best and Xeno 2 the weakest. Xeno X has great world building but compared to Gears/Saga not quite. Xeno X I tend to separate from Chronicles and I enjoy X the most.

But the old guard at Square has long went their own ways.

So many IPS at their disposal and they just lock them up and toss away the key.

Yeah. I'm cheating. I downloaded a mod that increased the default window for dodge/parry. I'm still only hitting about 70% dodge and the occasional parry. :LOL: Some, I can nail it, but others seem to be out of rhythm for me. Now I know why I am not a professional drum player. I love the story and exploring so far and I figure the mod is better than getting frustrated to a point I dread playing.

Just invest some points in defense. If you have 15-20 you will be a tank.

Alright. I've decided to let this game be my next attempt at liking turn based games. I think the timed attacks, dodging and parrying will help. It's getting so much praise and not bloated. We'll see!!!

Its not a rhythm game

Its not a rhythm game
Sure it is not but typically for dodge/parry I can get in a rhythm with a mob in games. In this case, I have trouble with some of them. I just had one hell of a time with Chromatic Troubadour. I was down to one character (Gustave) with one health point left. I have no idea if the mod I installed helped but I spammed block and managed to fight off a round of attacks to get my final blow in. I'm not feeling bad about it at all. :LOL:

If i just wouldn't be busy with the Oblivion Remaster i would play this game but it has to wait until i finish Oblivion.
in all honestly I didn't preorder this game because I thought I wasn't able to finish Xenoblade X DE before this game drops in.

Thankfully I did and also managed to get my copy when when I pre-ordered Switch 2.

For people playing it. How are the skills, is it possible to make some awesome builds with interesting skills?
Yes every party member have their own unique mechanics behind their combat style like Maelle having different stance or Gustave charging his prosthetic arm and Lune stacking up different elements.

Skills (Pictos) can enhance those unique mechanics.

I just started and there are already some synergies between the skills of the only 2 characters I have, plus the skill tree is big enough. Looks promising.

What tweaks are you using? I'm only using this:

I'm using that to remove sharpening and unlock cutscene framerates.

After that I'm overriding DLSS to DLSS4/Transformer model, implementing RTX HDR, and then creating/editing the engine.ini file to fully remove motion blur, tone down blooming, disable depth of field (still back-and-forth on this one), remove chromatic aberration, and remove lens flare effects.

You guys convinced me to buy the game, I was planning to get either No Rest for the Wicked or Doom but I guess I'm hyped now. Also I'm in the mood for some emotional storytelling, impressions have been stellar on the story side. Only got to play the prologue last night, it was very good.

Is it possible to sure those?

Share? Yeah sure:

To remove motion blur and depth of field, you need to create a file called engine.ini and put it in the following directory if you're on Steam: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Sandfall\Saved\Config\Windows

or if you're using Game Pass, this directory: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Sandfall\Saved\Config\WinGDK

Open the engine.ini file you created in notepad and paste the following into it:

[SystemSettings]
r.MotionBlur.TargetFPS=0
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=0
r.BloomQuality=0
r.LensFlareQuality=0
r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0
r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0
r.Tonemapper.GrainQuantization=0
r.Tonemapper.Quality=1
r.Bloom.ScreenPercentage=20

^^The above removes or reduces some other settings as well like bloom, chromatic aberration, lens flare, etc.. If you don't want them removed or changed, just take out the lines. The sharpening line isn't really needed there if you're using Lyall's mod, but it doesn't hurt anything either.

Save the engine.ini changes and then right click the file > Properties > select Read Only so that the game can't delete or alter your changes.

Only god knows how much I hate all of that shit. So thanks a lot mate I appreciate it!

Doing it now

Phenomenal game.

I must really be getting old though because I haven't seen a single complaint in this thread about the super tiny text for skill and item descriptions. I find them almost unreadable.

Lune is my favorite video game character in god knows how long, and this game probably has the best soundtrack I've ever heard.

The picto/lumina system is so good, but there are so many and you have to swap them out so often. I often find myself walking up to a white item on the ground and thinking to myself "please just be chroma, I just redid my pictos 45 seconds ago"

Does anyone know where I can find the NPC that wants Necron flesh? I forgot his location.

The area is called something like "The Small Bourgeron" it's near the Gestral Village.
