Nintendo Switch 2 |OT| Switch 2 Nintendo, because now we're playing with power

So what do I need to do to play my switch 1 digital games? Just login with my Nintendo acc on switch 2 and the games will be there?

It's time...
Or it least it would be if Mario kart showed up today.
It's coming tomorrow apparently.
Gee thanks Amazon..

This is a load of shit. My first (left) joy-con developed drift after 100 hours of gameplay and my lad's (left) joy-con the same. My Oled has never developed drift despite hundreds of hours but I'm assuming that's pure luck and not a redesign.

As long as the EU bully Nintendo in to free repairs beyond warranty it's not a complete disaster but why have they not just paid the extra few pence for the hall ones?
My Joycons didn´t drift for years until I gave my Switch to my daughter for Minecraft. Now they ALL drift.

This was a nice touch from AIC, Nintendo's official distributor in the region. The package included an official Nintendo-branded bag, a pen and notepad, textbook and a large Mario Kart World poster.

My mate in the same town of me has received his. Mine still has nothing from argos.

He ordered after me too. Haha typical.

Luckily im not bothered about getting it today.

Rolled out of bed 7:15, figures I'd check target down the street. I was only guy in there buying…

That was easy

Came to target in Brooklyn. Tons of inventory of both bundle and single console. Currently in a queue. They gave us tickets that guarantee inventory.

Irony that after all the preorder drama late night where I couldn't get it, it was this easy.

Stock is readily available in the UK. Costco had loads and Asda too an hour ago also Amazon have same-day delivery if you are agoraphobic.

Still waiting for the email that tells me i can go get my switch.
Starting to think it will not happen today.

Given, I'm at work rn so maybe it's better to ha e the console over the weekend

Hearing that stock is plentiful is making me want to pick one up even though I'm not interested in any of the new games. It'd definitely give me the incentive to finish up TotK...

Walked in to my local Target this morning a hour after they opened just to check the scene. They have 20+ available to purchase. Seems stock is readily available thus far.

This video states that the Switch 2 LCD screen only outputs 450 nits brightness for HDR which is a massive disappointment after the 1,000 nits of the Steam Deck's OLED screen. LCD screens can go much brighter than 450 nits so I can only assume that the limitation is due to needing to save battery life.

Thankfully, the TV HDR experience is not limited like this and for me the Switch 2 will be mostly used docked anyway as I have little need for a handheld gaming device. My reason for buying a Switch OLED was because Switch games looked awful upscaled with no anti-aliasing on my 55" OLED TV so I decided to stick with playing games on a smaller screen instead. If the Switch 2 had not launched with 4K TV support then I would not have bought one at launch because, quite frankly, going back to an LCD screen after using OLED for so long is a major downgrade in my book, no matter how good the LCD screen might be. You just don't get that pop with LCD and blacks always look greyish except in bright conditions but who wants to play their games that way?

Went to the Mall of America (in Minnesota) midnight release and picked mine up.

I arrived about 10pm central and there was already what looked like 200 people already waiting in line. I got directed to head to another line for people that didn't finalize their transactions and would go last. I was confused by this because I paid for everything up front when I pre-ordered originally, specifically to avoid this problem. I'm assuming I got fucked because I had a GS replacement plan on my receipt that needed to be finalized (never again). I continued to watch more and more people show up and pile into the other line, I started to get saltier and saltier. We were eventually herded into the mall and made our way to queue up infront of the store, with my line directed to stand against a wall away from the main line, much like how I imagine Jews got lined up by the Nazi's to be taken out by a firing squad. I had to sit there and watch this massive line go first and walk past us with their Switch 2s in hand and pup tents pitched from the excitement. Very painful. The GS employee's said that the line would move quick and to my relief it did, I was out of there before midnight with my Switch 2 in hand, a spank camera and case.

I got home, got everything setup and data transferred from my old switch. Fired up No Man's Sky to check out the latest update but ended up passing out after 5-10 minutes while chilling in the Nexus Hub seeing if any players would show up now that it has multiplayer (none did).

Can't get it to output 120hz on my oled monitor. Hdr works
Tried with, without, 1440p, 1080p, nothing helps.
It says it's possible in the display settings yet it stays at 60hz

Anyone else experience anything like this?

I forgot the internal screen is 120hz. My monitor is only 60hz so I guess I'll use mine handheld until I buy a TV later this year.

I guess I'll sell the OLED switch once I get everything transferred over and downloaded on the new system.

Concerning about all the screen issues. I'm walking home with mine but my friend just turned on his and it looks terrible. Lots of light bleed and crazy color shift when tilting it at any angle.

I only play docked 100% of the time so not concerned about mine tbh.

I got mine at the midnight launch at GameStop along with the pro controller for $85, and Cyberpunk, which was only $70.

The new controller attachment is great for it, the previews cant quite get it across to you. (y)

Now as its a modern console, I need to spend the next few hours downloading everything.

That's why you wait for the OLED version and there will be more games

My Walmart preorder arrived nice and early this morning.
That Costco link shows you can get one tomorrow, so plenty in stock.
Nintendo knows how to do console launches, that's for sure.

Ehhh this sucks honestly. I was on the fence about buying this but not sure I can justify it now.

So, I finally got it from DHL and decided to keep it and not trade it in for a PS5 PRO. Couldn't resist the Nintendo Magic.

A few things of note:

- download speed is much improved. I downloaded LA Noire (to test for uncapped framerate), which is 25gb in 25 minutes on portable.
- it looks premium and it feels premium
- user interface is great
- I have 3 Switches and Virtual Game Card system works well enough and quick enough.
- Switch AC adapter is just a plug with a seperate USB C cable. Nice.
- Mario Kart World is a code which is not nice
- eShop is so fast that it seems them made it slow on S1 on purpose

Okay, testing SW2 against SW1. I play portable 95% of the time, and I'm genuinely surprised I haven't gotten annoyed by those small buttons. Seriously, aside from the OLED screen, SW2 boasts higher quality and better design, even in the smallest details. It makes the SW1 feel like a prototype.

So,if,you have the S1 versions of Zelda, do,you have to,pay for the upgraded S2 versions. Or is there nothing like that?

Literally the first thing i noticed when taking it out of the box and putting on the joycons.

"Oh this feels nice"

I can't overstate how much more of premium product the S2 feels in hand

Costco has been selling them for a half hour or so. Still up. Pro Controller is 75 there and eShop credit is 10% off, as are games.

Will try out Vanishing of Ethan Carter as well. Game has unlocked framerate and FOV options.

LA Noire runs stable now but doesn't go above 30. It thought it had variable framerate. Maybe that's docked only.
