Nintendo Switch 2 |OT| Switch 2 Nintendo, because now we're playing with power

Apparently everyone whose getting their Walmart delivery today is saying the same.

Some good free promotions for Coke and Pringles, not that they need any.

I don't get the feeling that a new system is releasing today... like the vibe is very muted?
Are nintendo fans feeling differently ?
Does kinda feel that way

Mainly bc probably Mario Kart is the true only new game

Rest are ports of older ones and also upgraded switch ones

One Nintendo pumps out Metroid, Donkey Kong and others, it will feel more like one.

Now doing the system wipe to reset my OLED switch 1 to factory settings before I list it for sale.
Booted up all of my games on the Switch 2 and they all work fine.

As far I know Nintendo has not been sending out review copies etc. so there's not much stuff going on on gaming sites so that adds on to the somewhat muted feel. I don't think Nintendo is much bothered by that.

kids want it anyway.
Even in Poland, kids slowly realize there is such a thing like nintendo but the brand is still very muted here. Plenty of switch 2s on shelves.
I've seen a report that they got 10 units in 1 store and sold none yet except 1 pre order.

This is my first exposure to the Nintendo Switch universe. I thought heck why not, everyone bangs on about the original Switch.

First impressions, very pleasantly surprised. Love the set up, love the portability. The UI is nice and clean and Mario Kart world is a lot of fun. Above all else, the online doesn't cost the earth!

There were hundreds of people at the early launch where I was at last night. People cheering as they left the store with units.

Also, they were all full grown adults and definitely looked like gamers.

Funny story (at least to me).
I didn't tell my wife I ordered a Switch 2.
I heard the Ring after getting a text from Walmart that it was delivered.
Texted my wife, that was a package for me at the door.
She texts back, why did you order pringles and an orange coke?
I said, please tell me you are joking. She said no.
I 100% believed the delivery driver switched it out and kept the Switch 2.
Of course the Switch 2 was also in the bag.

Maybe it feels muted because a majority of the target audience for a Nintendo console (kids) are too busy playing roblox on their parent's grimey broken-screened hand-me-down phones/tablets to care about Switch 2.

But not my kid, obviously. We're looking forward to firing up Mario Kart.

Was looking through my Switch backlog while stuff has been downloading. Popped in Xenoblade 2. Holy crap, that game NEEDS a patch really bad.
I was hoping it would be improved a bit handheld due to its resolution scaling.
My eyes bled.

At first I tried it and got an error, then I scratched more off the paper and realized one of the letters was different, and then it worked for me.

Man, i read that another user in here (sorry, can't remember who) had his code already redeemed out of the box, hope it's not gonna be a common recurrence...

Didn't see the preorders go live and didn't expect to get one, but it was pretty readily available at Target, so I bought one.

8 years of that shitty Switch hardware, man. And that thing was bad from day 1…. But there were so many good games, a lot of which I skipped because of the hardware. Excited that this is FINALLY the Switch done properly.

Tried a few games during lunch today:
- Mario Kart World: Looks great, fun to play so far, BR mode is epic
- Fortnite: MASSIVE upgrade from the Switch 1 version. Pretty much on par with PS4/PS5 versions from what I've played.
- Echoes of Wisdom: Feels like a different game.

All on my OLED tv btw, haven't even played it portable yet.

Fortnite seems to run with PS4 settings. sadly no 120fps mode yet. there's room to downgrade the graphics to reach 120fps for sure. the game runs higher settings than the Series X 120fps mode for example. as the 120 mode on current gen has no SSR and massively reduced shadow detail.

the 60fps mode on current gen is completely different tho. it uses hardware lumen now for example, and generally runs way higher settings.

Having a blast with fast fusion. My only issue is I'm not getting audio from my center channel. I am through my surround channels but nothing through the center. Same thing on Mario kart world. I've run the test tones on the system itself and the center outputs

No launch games (except old games) in an era of gaming where everything is flavor of the week because of streaming culture and so many options.

Looking at all the stuff in this thread, like 8bitdo controllers not being compatible at launch, games being $80, screen being sub-par to the Swoled, battery life being bad, joycons feeling flimsy, some people having issues with Wi-Fi, etc. There's no Nintendo innovation here besides the mouse novelty and no games to support it right now besides a tech demo.

I won't get to play until tomorrow morning and it's killing meeeeeeee. (But I am on my way to a concert, so that's cool I guess.)

I need to check my Hori Street Fighter II RAP V fight stick tonight to see compatibility with NS2. I've already replaced all of the buttons and stick with Sanwa parts; so, I hope it works.

I'm not really interested in Switch 2, but what I've seen in my local stores is reminding me of the Wii U launch.

I've worked in video games retail back in the days and I've never seen a console so easy to get on day 1.

My Costco had hundreds in stock and it was the first pallet when you come in the door.

I predicted that it would have a very strong launch, sold out everywhere in minutes, but the hype would die down quickly because of the price and other factors, but seeing that many available at Costco, Best Buy, etc. on launch day... I didn't expect that.

So got my argos order from DPD. some scummy DPD or argos employee had broken the outer seals on my packaging.

Looking inside and it all looks un touched and new and the Mario kart voucher worked fine so I can only imagine some jerk thought about stealing it and then got spooked.

Weird shit and annoying but im super happy with the system. It feels great and I've just copied everything over. Applied my glass screen protector and played about 2 hours of stardew with my girlfriend.

Super happy.

Most consoles launches, as you should know, would not have "100s of consoles" at a single store. Nintendo flooded the market with this console, it's sold out online and no doubt will sell well in those stores even if it doesnt sell out. this isn't like past console launches that were supply constrained for months. (https://www.nowinstock.net/videogaming/consoles/nintendoswitch2/)

This is not a WiiU situation no matter how hard naysayers try to push it.

Lots of people are reporting connectivity issues with the 8bitdo controllers. Hopefully they can release a firmware update for the controllers to make them compatible.
I figured I'd let you know but I guess they put out an update and it should work now.

I haven't tried it yet though

I fucking hate all of you.

I swore I wasn't going to get one until the oled.... But they had them at Costco just now and I got the bundle

Yeah well, from my understanding, Costco has at least the number of units as they have the carton display on the floor.

Here's the image I took at the entrance. If that's not more than a hundred...

I need an SD card already, Downloaded Mario Kart and was around 180GB left when I left it sleep while I took a break. Downloaded a bunch of my Switch games and bam. Only had 56GB left. Also could I trouble some of you to show some images of a Switch 2 with a tempered glass screen protector on it? I wanna buy some but not sure if I should snag these or not.

I think you misunderstood his point. He's saying that Nintendo has made significantly more inventory available at launch than other launches. I can confirm that the on site launch units that I've seen is much larger than what I've seen going back as far as the Wii launch.

I woke up this morning and my memory is already maxed out with half my library still needing downloads. This doesn't even count my physical backlog never put into a console. I wish the 1TB was available. I've bought two 256GB.

I'm blown away by the switch 2.
Went to a midnight launch last night and was only looking forward to seeing the zeldas in 4k. Havnt bought a mariokart in 20 years.

First off, breath of the wild and twars of the kingdom look INCREDIBLE! Better then i was anticipating.

Mariokart has won my heart! Looks so much better than videos convey (same with the zeldas). I played until 4am last night. The music and tracks are really fun in mariokart. Total road trip vibes with mario music celebration.

The screen is SHARP. Really nice. The smooth framerate on it is nice but the games didnt blow me away visually until i connected it to the tv.

Here is my launch experience:

I'm not disagreeing with the number of units you saw I'm saying it's exceptionally rare for any store to get that many units during any console launch. This tells me there is more than enough supply to meet demand and it not selling out doesn't mean it's a Wii U... it means they made more than enough units.

Reminds me of Switch launch. Was fairly easy to get.

Wii U came out during xmas season. When people are buying gifts. Harder to find.

Anyone else played docked with pro controller then pull it out and the switch joycons don't work in game only home screen menu. Only way I could fix it was to close the game and restart.

I seem to remember the switch 1 would ask you to click two buttons to wake the joycons.

I had exactly the same thing mate delivered this morning and similarly I was annoyed.

I went down to the store to pick one up fresh and... turns out all the seals have basically disintegrated on all the consoles they had. I saw 3 of them, 4 including mine all the same. Staff confirmed the issue seems widespread and they've been advised about it.

I'm still returning my original as its also weirdly dusty and dirty inside but I genuinely think this is nothing more than cheap poor quality sticker seals. Slight tarnish on an otherwise exciting day.

Yeah my outer seal was broken or cut. From John Lewis delivered by DPD. Was a bit disappointed. Somehow it ruined the experience. Knowing someone may have been in there possibly. But seems ok. I was waiting to find a brick
