For me it's the PSP, easily.
Not only is it easy to crack at home, it also has a weird level of mobility.

Some insane madman programmed his PSP to read his insulin levels, that's not a joke.

UMDs will forever have a place in me heart. đź’ś

The Switch? Lol I can play all Switch games for free with better performance with the whole Steam library on a Steam Deck. And I don't have to pay 50 bucks to play PS3/360 games on it either. 🤣

so why are there 3 different GBAs on that list but only 1 PSP?

and why the 3DS and 2DS which are the same hardware, but not the New 3DS and New 2DS which have a way faster CPU and are actually tangibly different (even having a handful of exclusive games)
also no GameBoy Color even tho it has exclusive games, while the GBA SP is just a different form factor and a screen change

If I consider historical precedent, I'd say gameboy. Otherwise probably Switch 1 or maybe DS.

PSP is a big honorable mention though.

I really hoped the Vita wouldve been a success. Great hardware for its time, had a lot of fun with it initially, but first party support became non existent after a short period of time

None of them. The only reason I ever played games on handheld was for games exclusives for them. Never liked portables, they were only an ends to the means for me.

For example, I would never play Dark Souls, GTA, any FPS on a portable unless it was the ONLY way to play them.

F*ck off, nerd. 🤷

With the ability to play all switch games, classic nintendo titles, and more to come it's clearly Switch 2. Nothing can stop this train.

Gameboy, easily.

Pokemon and Zelda Link's Awakening were two goated games that even til this day most games struggle to give you that feeling of really being in a fantasy world quite like they did.

GBA would probably be my 2nd choice because of Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission.

Next would probably be the PSP. Lumines, LocoRoco, Syphon Filter Dark Mirror and Logan's Shadow... phenomenal...

PSP for me. What a library. Everything about it was great, controls, screen, software, themes, just the overall aesthetic. Once modded you can do some cool stuff and have even more games to play.

Anyone voting Steam deck or Switch should just walk out of the thread. Not true handhelds, one is a portable PC, one is a bit closer. But the software is not uniquely made for a handheld experience even on Switch.

The last true hand helds were the 3DS and Vita. Get this portable PC and consoles out of here.
