I'll play through it regardless, I love me some Metroid games, but some of this footage looks very whelming. Like, not great, the visuals look OK (given development started so long ago on Switch 1), I'm hoping there will be enough of a hook to make it good, we will see.

My impression is that the 'development hell' thinking is overblown.

It was supposedly handed to Bandai Namco initially and their version of it was scrapped completely in 2019. Then the project was restarted from scratch at RETRO Studios.

But I can't recall hearing any development hell news/rumors after RETRO took over.

For sure. It's my favorite of the Prime games, and my second favorite Metroid game (only Super Metroid is better to me). It also has the coolest area out of any of them (Sanctuary Fortress).

You can complete it in 45 hours with most side content done. The additional dungeons and bosses at the end you can come back to wrap up anytime.

Maybe you'll hate it, but it's a game worth discussing this year as it's a monumental year for games with so many releases.

Then Metroid prime 4 for the pallet cleanse.

They could have made the switch 1 version 30fps to increase the scope of the project. But this has to run at 60fps on switch 1 is gona make this feel like a wii game at most
