What game are you currently playing?

Outer Worlds 1 finished. I give it a 7/10. A bit bland but had its moments. I appreciate how much leeway they allow for murdering NPCs. Within 2 seconds of seeing this guy's face I knew he was going down, and the game usually was ready for it.

After beating the game i played again this time killing literally every single person in the entire game. Took about 5 hours on a lazy sunday. It was very cathartic.

Finished Star Wars Outlaws. Great graphical showcase for the Switch 2. Playing it on that sweet big 8 inch screen was absolutely sublime. As a game though, it was pretty damn mid. It started out fun on the first planet, racing around on your hover bike, but after 20 hours or so the Ubi open world fatigue started to settle in. The variety and quality on the different missions was very uneven. Some cool set pieces here and there but overall it just didn't click with me. And the dog fights in space was so boring and quite badly executed.

And then we have Kay Vess, which I thought was one of the most uninteresting main leads I've seen in a long time. Ubi should've gone with a male character here. Kay was not in any way believable as a scoundrel and smuggler. The voice actress probably did the best she could with the material she had and there were times Kay was likeable and sympathetic, but overall she was so goddamn dull and just plain boring. And it looked so corny when she knocked out Storm Troopers with her bare hands. Total casting misfire.

The gameplay was also not very good. The stealth elements were undercooked and enemy AI was terrible. The relationship between different factions were not fun either because every mission you did meant you had to fuck over at least one of the factions you worked for, resulting in a deteriorating relationship which you had to build up over and over again.

This game is the very definition of mid. The most 5 out of 10 you can think of. I think I'm done with Star Wars for the foreseeable future. It's just so mediocre and bland nowadays.

I'm playing Octopath 0 and god damn this game is so good, I'm loving it.

I'm also replaying Resident Evil 2 Remake in anticipation of RE9.

Legacy of Kain Defiance

Last time I played this was way back on PS2 and for some reason I never had fond memories of it, unlike Soul Reaver 2 and even Blood Omen 2.
Well, a few hours in it starts to dawn on me. This game is quite the mess. The camera is a nightmare, the combat is super boring and way to overused and in even in terms of writing… so far nothing really happens.

I seriously hope this game picks up eventually but I somewhat doubt it. Well, at least the Plat is easy and it looks like I won't have to play it again.
Played further… What is this? Feels like I've been going through this more or less identical forges 80% of my time thus far. I can't believe it… so far the worst LoK game I've played.

Metroid Prime 4. For the life of me I cannot understand what the negative reviews are on about. Some were expecting a reinvention of Metroid Prime? Others are overjoyed it IS a Metroid Prime game! You can't win I guess. I love it.

Spinnin plates..

Metroid Prime 4 - Just started
Cronos -NG+ about to platinum
Yotei - Approaching the end, will 100%

2 out of the 3 should be completed this weekend

Playing some Syberia Remastered (PS5)

Not sure why they call it a remaster, it's basically a full on remake. The only thing it retains from the original is the admittedly low bitrate audio.

Otherwise it's just an ehhh experience. Kinda janky, not really having that much fun with it.

Also a great use case for why every game *needs* to have the option to disable chromatic aberration. It's horrible in this game.

They are saying for a game 18 years in the making, it played it a bit too safe, nothing really new brought to the table, the bike sections are a wasted opportunity, no music no atmosphere....some complain it should have been more open world ...

just finished the abandoned planet, a point and click adventure game that had some challenging puzzles and an intriguing story with some emotional bits here and there

if you picked it up with prime gaming, be sure to give it a try

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose...

I'm going to be using an airport terminal as a camping spot tomorrow night and have to choose my weapon for a few hours of gaming. Tablet and controller seems like overkill and it will murder my power bank. So maybe the lynx? There's enough room in the backpack (just going for n evening) and I only need to cover like a a few hours of gaming. Plus I can play it on the plane.

The game of choice would be the lynx meta-game, which is to flip through lynx games and remember how almost all of them are terrible.

You just took me back to 2021 where I spent hours with my brother who's I.T. tech trying to troubleshoot Jedi Fallen Order on my new gaming laptop, first game to try on it. I had gone so far as to think I was scammed or something because the game was so ugly. Turned out it was just the horrendous Chromatic Aberration at it again.

Black Ops 7 - completely consumed by the multiplayer and zombies goodness, lots to love here despite having one of the worst campaigns in CoD history.

Dragon Quest 3 - beautiful remake, JRPG comfort food, the charm of DQ is undeniable.

Ghost of Yōtei - fantastic sequel that I've decided to play in bite-sized chunks every few days between the other stuff. Gorgeous world, satisfying combat, narrative I prefer to GoT's.

RDR: Undead Nightmare - Briefly jumped in the check this out, RDR is an all-time favourite but I never played the DLC on PS3 so it's all new to me, I'm entertained lol

Death Stranding on PC and FF13-2 on Steam Deck. Played Expedition 33 but that turned out too much for me to handle so I'm going to stick with those 2 only for now. FF13-2 is about mid-game now. Death Stranding is still at episode 2 I believe.

First hours of Metroid Prime 4 and it is amazing so far. Graphics are incredible with fantastic art direction. Lush jungle environment, atmospheric music and a real sense of mystery. The introduction level with the attack on the Federation Force was very impressive with some very tense action and jaw dropping cut scenes. Absolutely love it so far.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 - Finished - 7/10
I actually dropped the difficulty down and did the last few hours rather quickly. Loved the setting, some of the characters were great, and the story was decent, but everything else was sort of average.

Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep
I haven't played anything Borderlands since the third game released. Was getting a little bored of the series. I fancied jumping back in and heard this was a lot shorter than the other games, so decided to give it a bash. I really like the setting and the whole tabletop thing. Fighting skeletons and dragons and other monstrosities is great fun. I've gone with Axton as my character.

Are you playing on Switch one or two

I tried to get into Evil West for the second time but it still isn't happening. The main character is just too damn clunky, and some of these button inputs are NOT registering. I think I'm gonna call this one for good.

I think I'll revisit Shredder's Revenge.

I also bought a game titled Frontier Hunter: Erza's Wheel of Fortune; I got the $56 edition for $11.

Dark Messiah.

Really cool game, still super fun even if a bit janky at times. Unfortunately some animations are fixed at low framerates so it's a bit jarring, and there are some hitches here and there. Not the best use of the Source engine.

The progression curve is great, finding new items is exciting and you can feel that you are getting powerful. Kicking people off cliffs never gets old.

I went with a balanced build, mostly melee + bow with a couple of funny spells (like the ice one, super useful too).

It's a shame it was not iterated upon. The game is almost 20 years old now, and still a blast to play even with the jankiness. A polished sequel would have been a total banger.

Fucking amazing game

Probably not the same, but Elderborn might play in a similar way. Might be worth checking out, I still haven't tho.

Going through Metroid Prime 4. Enjoying it so far, even though I do have some major gripes with it.

It really has some major Halo-vibes visually.

I picked up Metaphor: Refantazio for £5 in a charity shop. Couldn't believe my luck

I really wanted a good meaty JRPG to get into this christmas holidays so will put this to the test. Don't really know a huge amount about it beyond it's a jRPG, and has apparently a weird soundtrack?

hope it's good.

Fired up the PS Vita. It's a console I neglected since I purchased it around 2013. Currently playing through Gravity Rush. I'm half way through. I'm loving the handheld form factor. I'm also a third of the way through Chinatown Wars on Vita too.

After getting 100% in Vampire Survivors in 2022 and again in 2024 (dlc stuff), I quit and took a break from these "survival" games until Halls of Torment v1.0 dropped. Played it a lot but unfortunately got kinda bored, it's slow and progression isn't as fun as VS. So I kinda quit.

Enter 2025 December. Bought Megabonk and yep, this feels back how VS felt. It's fast, it's crazy, it's funny and so much fun. Totally addicted atm. Miles better than anything in the market apart from VS. VS is still the best but this is nearly as good as it, and possibly the best in the 3D survival genre.

Apart from this I have somehow got a weird desire to play zombie horde shooters so occasionally firing up Black 4 Blood and World War Z.

Back 4 Blood (Ultimate edition):

My biggest criticism I have for this game is the obtuse RNG system. The gunplay, movement and general feel without the good "cards" (cards = RNG modifiers) is downright atrocious, sluggish and such a chore to play. However, after you unlock the good cards, the game evolves from mediocre to a super fun, really mindless, crunchy zombie shooter. Here's the kicker: It takes around 60+ hours to unlock all these cards maybe more if you're playing solo. Thankfully the bots are decent, don't die easily and mow down everything in lower difficulties.

Level design especially in zombie holes (underground) is really bad and tiresome. A particular enemy - wall jumper is very very annoying, you get constantly jumped. Normal areas it's ok. Nothing great but fine. The game is made using UE4 and the performance is not super smooth, 60fps is easy but my RTX4070M struggles to maintain 120. I like this game when it works but also hate it due to the RNG mechanics. There's a lot of content to grind and goes regularly for 90% off. I think it's totally worth this price lol especially with friends. Note: requires easy anti cheat even if you play solo, offline with bots.

World War Z Aftermath:
Made in Saber's own in-house "Swarm" engine, extremely well optimized, rock solid 120 smooth gameplay even with thousands of zombies, the "swarm" feature is market leading (same engine is used in Space Marine 2). While you do get a first person mode it's bare bones and rudimentary, you can't use scopes/ads. The 3rd person gameplay however is very fun. The shooting is very catharthic, think Hitman WoA shooting but hordes of zombies (zekes lol). Defeating swarms solo is hard, rewarding and satisfying. Requires, planning and strategy. The models are very detailed and cool.

What I don't like is the grind, each class, each gun requires so much grind to max out. You also have to do daily challenges and other shit that sometimes require dlc-only maps (Vegas & Phoenix). If you thought B4B grind was bad, lol this is worse. Solo is really hard in this but doable and fun. AI bot partners are useless.

I still like this a lot, even more so with friends. This is imo a great video game, a classic and probably the best, clean and performant, modern zombie horde shooter you want.

Finally, I have been thinking to go back and restart Conscript. A major update (director's cut) got released that almost overhauls much of the game. Some of my criticism are resolved and I think I can finally enjoy this. I loved the artwork, the smooth KBM controls and sound design. I didn't like the level design and some of the RE inspired gameplay esp. burning rats lol. Much of this has been revamped.

Megabonk
I am also now playing this thanks to seeing the post by Rocinante618 Rocinante618 . Did a run with the knight and the fox character. Got battered with the knight but managed to beat the boss with the fox.

Age of Mythology: Retold
I fancied buying an RTS type game and this one looked right up my alley. I love monsters and characters from mythology, so seemed like a no brainer. No idea what I am doing though, to be honest. Feel like a caveman who has stumbled into the cockpit of a rocket.

Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep
Just reached the mines of Avarice. Found a pretty good sniper rifle earlier. Need to replace my other three weapons.

Finished Immortals of Aveum the other night.
It was entertaining but I put the difficulty down to easy as the enemies became massive bullet sponges. The combat was OK but could be a bit crazy sometimes when I had no idea who or where I was being shit by or from.
The ending was hilarious as well, utterly ridiculous really.
The writing was cringe the whole way through and the exciting cutsecene moments all fell flat.
Took about 20hrs so not bad for 89p.

Am going through the rest of Arkham Origins and this game is more annoying now than anything.
I started off loving it but it's got so tedious and annoying that I'm totally skipping the optional bosses even though it's something I'd usually like to do.
I HATE games that dump more mob enemies in a boss battle, it's shitty and cheap and does not improve or make it harder - it's just crap and poor design.

Finished the RE Remake the other day... again. This time the GoG version that was recently released.

On of the games that literally never gets old. It's crazy how good this game looks even today considering how old it is. It was such a revelation back in the day. Sincerly hope that Capcom does another RE with prerendered backgrounds just for shits and giggles one day. Like a spinoff or something with modern hardware. They could make it photorealistic basically.

I just upgraded my graphics card and my gamepass ultimate is ending on Christmas Day. I'm restarting certain graphically demanding games that I put down. So far I've been able to finish off Hell blade 2 and Indiana Jones the great Circle. Glad I had some content left to check out the upgrade.

Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep - Finished - 8/10
Really enjoyed that. Was quite short and didn't outstay its welcome. Had a few sidequests left over but they were 'trivial' difficulty and I decided not to do 'em. I was going to try the other classes out but remembered I have Tiny Tina Wonderland on Epic so I'll play that instead.

I legit thought you'd posted a Halo 4 picture. This is almost 1 : 1 to many vistas in the opening hours of Halo 4.

Yeah, it has insane Halo 4/5 vibes at times. I played through those about two years ago, so they're still fairly fresh in my mind.
This metroid is probably on par with those titles (halo 4 and 5), ie not a universal hit...but those who like it think it is a decent entry...meanwhile I FINALLY completed Bourne conspiracy on the PS3 in my first ever playthrough....can't say I enjoyed it much, and like the latest Indy game it isn't a game you would go back to for a 2nd run....but thankfully Indiana Jones doesn't have these mad QTE events in the combat...which barely give you any advantage...I'm glad it is finished, I can now look at other titles I passed on originally ie Starhawk, and Alpha Protocol..I fired up Motorstorm Pacific Rift, it's still got it after all these years, and we likely won't ever get a remastered version even for the PS6 let alone 5...but from tomorrow I'll go back to making more progress on Indy...

Finished Remember Me. Very cool game. Unique, I would say in its setting and story. Awesome sci fi/cyberpunk aesthetic, art direction is top notch, with fluid combat, atmospheric music and some very eye popping set pieces. Nilin is a kick ass protagonist, very likeable and cool, with probably one of the nicest asses in video games. Clocking in at a very brisk 10 hours feels very refreshing with today's gaming climate. Yeah, I loved this game very much. Would love a sequel but unfortunately it didn't do very well financially upon release so it is what it is.

Noe it's full steam ahead with Metroid Prime 4. Fucking love this game so far. Acquired the bike, which is dope as hell in it's aesthetic, and can't wait to drive around the desert with it. Cleared much of Volt Forge and this place has very cool level design. And the audiovisual presentation so far is nothing short of amazing. Never seen such beautiful graphics on Switch. 4K gaming has never looked so good.

I'm working on my Tears of the Kingdom playthrough right now, mainly exploring the Depths and grinding for materials. I'm recovering from back surgery, so it's been a nice way to relax and get distracted

I played it on release but never finished it, though I'm well over 70 hours in now. Despite the long break, I still think it's a phenomenal game.

Booted Cold Fear yesterday evening and... kinda like it. I love it when I discover one of these obscure games I missed from the PS2 gen.
The game is certainly flawed but kinda fun. Like how you have to shoot the infected heads off as they otherwise get up again.

Also, made me remember how much I miss the old era where you had these awesome CGI sequences in between the gameplay. Always felt like a high point in a game when you got to see one.

Playing Stalker 2. Been great so far, although I find the AI a little too good at shooting at times. So far it's nothing I can't deal with, so I'll just keep at it.

To mix it up I did another New Vegas playthrough with a nice modlist. Played it so many times I know nearly every quest from the top of my head, but the writing will never stop putting a big smile on my face. Fuck, I love this game.

About to the above with Fallout 4 later this week or someting. Decided I want a Brotherhood & evil playthrough. Again, heavily modded.

I am starting over in Monster Hunter Wilds on PS5. Wish me luck! Or any advice, really. haha
I am honestly not very experienced with the series overall, but I've dabbled.

Looking Video Game GIF by CAPCOM

And I started Blood: Refreshed Supply with cheats on because that's how I roll. Damn fun game!
