Ubisoft has cancelled 6 games, including the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake

Brutal, I was looking forward to seeing the new version of the remake and it must've been very far along, they had announced it would release this year. Ubisoft sucks. At least we got two good 2D Prince of Persia games, now the franchise is probably dead forever.

What a relief. They ruined Assassins Creed, thank god they got their hands off their other IPs.

But hey I just bought the trilogy for PS3. Might be a sign from the heavens that it's finally time to play it.

It's such a sad state of affairs when you cant even muster the slightest bit of interest in what a company is doing, or isn't, in this case.

This company fell off so much I honestly wouldn't even notice if they shut the doors tomorrow. And I loved most of the Assassin Creed games, especially Black Flag.

After what they pulled with The Crew, good riddance, too.
I remember the time when i looked forward to ubisoft E3 presentations...

Here I was hoping for a PoP Remake and SplinterCell Rebooted in the same year........how stupid of me.

Btw, NeoGAF..."step change Ubisofts position in native Live Service" means they're going harder into GAAS...in 2026.

So much for the "saturated market" talking point.

I remain genuinely confused why the Sands of Time remake isn't a one-year, get-it-out-the-door project made for like seven dollars and a ham sandwich.

I understand why people shit on Ubisoft and I spent a few years without playing anything that they released.

However, last December I decided to grab Valhalla on sale. I like the Vikings concept and I used to like Asscreed before they went the RPG route. For like $5 it was pretty low risk.

To be honest I was a bit surprised. The game is pretty big and well detailed, you can tell a lot of resources were spent crafting the world. I'm still not sold on the RPG mechanics and I find it too big (the kind of big that makes me think twice about launching it instead of playing something with a shorter loop) but after about 8 - 10 hrs I wouldn't say the game is bad and I've been having fun. While I'm playing it many comments I've read online over the years come to my mind but I don't think it's a bad game per se.

Didn't the remake have a ESRB rating recently, or was I day dreaming again?

Nope, it was a thread from a week or so ago. How odd.

this paints a pretty obvious picture.

to get an ESRB rating, the game has to be at least feature complete.
so it probably was almost done.

them cancelling it might mean that internally they think it's so bad that it's not even worth releasing even tho it's almost done.

so, just imagine how bad a game has to be for even Ubisoft to say "nah, we can't release this"

WTF. Was interested in the PoP remake.

Hopefully the Splinter Cell remake is still alive.

Also, can we get more 60fps patches?

We went from shadow dropping a few days ago to outright cancelled, nice. Sands of Time is such a beautiful game, would have loved to see a proper remake or at least remaster, guess that dream is dead.

No way, they spent THAT long on the remake before they canceled it? I thought the worst of the dev hell was behind it years ago. I assumed that at this point, it had to be in a good state since they kept it around for so long.

projects get canceled literally all the time, you just don't hear about them, the PoP remake cancelation is surprising though, I was under the impression it was fairly close to release; oh well.

Oh Ubisoft. While I understand the situation, I still feel sad.
Sand of time remake is the only game I want from them, since they probably will never make another Rayman or Mario rabbit games.

I have no interest in any Ubisoft game ever so nothing of value was lost to me. Only one I was a bit interested in was Blood Dragon and that's only because of the 80s theme.
