What game are you currently playing?

Finished Lies of P.
Overall really enjoyed it, it's a solid 8/10 for me. Pretty derivative but well executed, nice visuals and art direction and fun combat. Personally I also liked the more direct storytelling compared to most Fromsoft games, I felt like I ended up with a pretty good grasp of the story without having to go look it up online lol.

The last 2 bosses were great too, chalenging but fun. I only really found Laxasia annoying, I just felt like her first form had too much HP and hit too hard to then get an entire second health bar and become super fast and agressive.

I'm playing Resident Evil 2 Remake. Even though I always enjoyed survival horror games and had played most of the classical REs, in the last few years I didn't feel the mood to play it. I played Resident Evil 3 Remake (really short and disapointing in my opinion) and Resident Evil 4 Remake which was a blast. Skipped Resident Evil 7 and 8.

Now with Resident Evil Requiem on the horizon, and got in the mood of finaly playing RE2R and its being a nostalgia trip. Let's hope Resident Evil Requiem will be more like RE2 or RE4 and less like RE6.

Besides that, I'm back playing Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2. I finished the campaign and did most of PvP content on release, and now I'm focusing on the Operations mode. Really having a blast playing co-op, learning the classes and trying to do some customization in terms of Chapters and classes.

playing more hades2... i can't even get to typhon on vow12... even though i just finished the other route at 16

i know i can beat the motherfucker, but all these vows are chipping at me from different angles before i even get to him... i've tried a few different weapons and it feels like i forgot how to play the game

grrr

edit: got im... fucking bitch lol

Finished No More Heroes 2. I feel like the first one was much better. Removing the hub and making the side jobs 2D games was a mistake, the game lost part of its charm this way. The bosses were way less memorable and the story was basically irrelevant here.

The gameplay feels better for sure, but the boss fights are too straightforward since enemies don't have invulnerability/hyperarmor. It's a bit of a miss.

Both NMH1 and 2 are extremely flawed, but I had my fun playing them. The stylized gore looks super cool, there is blood splattering everywhere but it doesn't feel too gruesome.

Travis Strikes Again is next, I expect something a bit more experimental with this one.

I got around to beating dead space 3. What a complete downgrade from 1&2. Almost no tension, spawn patterns are the same every room, and end game puzzles were dumb as hell. My biggest complaint is that you only have TWO weapon slots to use, even though the game has more weapon customization than before. Dead Space 1 you could carry four at a time.

Returning to Silksong, first time playing since the end of October and somehow managing to not completely suck. Act 3 is no walk in the park, but I'm very close to the end. Trying to find the remaining upgrades and relics though, ugh - maybe taking this long a break wasn't a good idea after all.

NICE

Did you see this coming, or was it a surprise?

Now the real game starts. Enjoy.

so now i wonder what you meant

i'm just realizing melinoe and hecate are the same person, and she's come back in time to train herself to kill chronos

which is wierd, because all other references to time are always moving forward, but it's pretty unmistakable from the writing

maybe it's like when chronos provides alternate timelines, and not necessarily backwards

either way, it's what the fates are referring to... i might have missed a lot of this from dialog fatigue... i almost skipped past this whole conversation except naked chicks were in the hot tub together lol

Finished Metal Gear Solid for the first time. It was a masterpiece.

It holds up really well even today. The story really moved me.

The game had clever traps that I didn't see coming.

That was a great game

What ending did you end up with?

I got the Solid Snake/Otacon ending. I prefer that ending to the Solid Snake/Meryl ending

Rage Racer - PS1 emulated on my Steam deck. I feel this installment of the Ridge Racer series is underrated. It is tough as hell, for me, but rewarding. Love the music!

Been playing Sunset Overdrive on and off for years and just unlocked the Air Dash ability. Holy crap, this really transforms the traversal into something special. Loving it now, think it was a mistake to lock it from the beginning.

Sunset Overdrive is to movement like Doom Eternal is to weapon swapping. They force a particular play style that you must develop muscle-memory for to enjoy.

Shadows of the Damned Remastered - PS5 Pro -Legion Mode and then have to knock out Lemon Mode and the plat is mine. Game is easily in my top 20.
No More Heroes - Switch - My favorite out of the quadrilogy
No More Heroes 3 - PS5 - 2nd favorite and going for a couple more trophies
Killer Is Dead - Xbox 360 - Havent replayed in years. Still holds up wonderfully.
Evil West - PS5 Pro - A perfect example of underrated and playing on Hard is incredibly fun and satisfying
Avowed - PS5 Pro - Impressed so far and having a good time. We'll see how I feel once it's over, but I love its Mass Effect + Fable like combo

Have to say, Marvel Cosmic Invasion...not really sure what to make of it...aside from the frustrating boss battles the deeper you go, there is absolutely NO point in having branching pathways, if you are forced to play through BOTH just to make progression, it is a dumb idea...and makes the game even more of a slog...(I'm only playing it as I was struggling to find anything on Gamepass to play...and then Star Wars Outlaws released but can't get to that yet..)

Replaying Fallout 4 for the second time only since its release because I didn't care for the workshop & settlement stuff.

This time I declined Preston's invitation and he fucked off to Sanctuary to be forever ignored by me 😋

It's fun to just do my own thing and explore.
I'm surprised at the amount of content I missed on my 1st run.

I also forgot about how cool Far Harbor is.
Just did a murder investigation in a hotel populated exclusively by robots and it was quite fun.

Just completed final fantasy 16 and came here to complain about it. What a fucking slog, I was screaming at my tv after during the third time I am fighting the third version of ultima "just fucking end already". How many fucking versions of ultima do they want me to fight?

Never ending cutscenes, after drawn out boss battles, when the first thing I wanna do after a long drawn out boss battle is to save the fucking game and go take a break.

Endless mindless, meaningless quests to progress the story.

Gameplay wise, it's similar to DMC5, which I finished last year, but at least the people who made DMC5 had the good sense to keep that game short, without all the unnecessary bloat.

They need to go back to the drawing board for the next mainline final fantasy.

Farcry 4
This is where the rot of ubislop started to eat away at the franchise imo.
I wouldn't say it was downhill from here because 5 is better, but this game is just a tedious chore to play, with an immersion breaking UI and trade system.

I went back to it as I'm clearing my backlog, but there's just no way I have the patience to complete this game.

On to Prey 2017: Mooncrash dlc next.

(edit grammar)

An interesting game, with some original, mind-bending mechanics. The bad thing is that it's too easy, and it's rather short (4 hours).

Ninja Gaiden [NES]
Finished for the first time in 2 decades or so. Still such a sharp, to the point, action masterpiece. That final boss rush is no joke - which seems impossible at first - but when you clear it - all the more rewarding.

Shin Megami Tensei 1 [PS1]
Miles better than the SNES port with all the improvements. Very surprised how much the series was known for was there from the very beginning. A brutally dark story - the typical JRPG mum wakes you up from sleep start - but that same mum gets killed in the first 15 minutes.

Dragon Quest I&II 2D-HD Reamke (Series X)
Love hate with this one. Charming to the max - but the 3d backgrounds are just so stale to me. I donno - I still prefer the NES original (or even SNES remake), I think.

Still playing Nioh 3. Haven't had as much time as I'd like recently but I'll probably still be playing until RE9 hits and take a break for that.

Great games. I can't count the number of times I played Ninja Gaiden on the NES, but I'd be scared to see how badly I'd be at it today as I haven't played a game like that in decades. SMT is so good, this and the first Persona on PS1 are when I think the series was peak, long before the social/relationship stuff and just laser focused on the atmosphere and story and was more tied to that SMT feel. I also haven't played Dragon Quest 1 since it was Dragon Warrior and I got a free copy from Nintendo Power. Did you play the HD remake of 3 and are 1 & 2 on about the same level?

I started with DQ I&II HD Remake first. Didnt play DQIII yet.
I dont hate the game or anything (ill like it one session then dislike it the next). Its neat all the added story bits to part 1 where they tried to expand the tale - but its just missing, something. The bland 3d backgrounds are part of it for me.

Finished Seperate Ways from RE4 Remake and am now back to No Rest for the Wicked until the release of RE Requiem next. Wicked keeps giving. I thought I'm already done with the Early Access content and just got one more quest. LOVE IT !!

In-between games so bouncing around a little. Finally configured the controls for Binary Domain since it was keyboard/mouse focused. When first trying, the voice commands worked great which is why fixed the controls. But now that I'm actually playing, it gets the command wrong most of the time. Your commands have relationship consequences, a major game feature, so hopefully can get it working.

Took a few more ass whoopings from Sam in Metal Gear Rising.

70 stars in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Every level has been some form of platform nirvana. The level design is extremely good with new surprises coming in at every turn. I also love how good Nintendo are at playing with nostalgia. Playing throwback Galaxy now and it's a remake of one of the levels in Super Mario 64, and as soon I hear the familiar music I start smiling. Nintendo really got my childhood by the balls.

Nioh 3 - Finished
Rating:
10/10

Loved every moment. One of the game series that is very special to me and one of those games that makes me genuinely happy to be playing it. Drag myself through work and other mundane rubbish to get home to play it; It's great that you can still get a lot of enjoyment from games as you get older. Anyway, gameplay, world building, characters, and the music are all things I adore about the series. Think I'm one of the few people who quite likes the story, too. Think I'll tackle new game plus after I'm done with Resident Evil Requiem next week.

Not sure what to fill the gap with now. I bought Shadow of the Tomb Raider last week, so I may give that a go. I enjoyed the previous two games.

Picked up Dark Souls 3 last night as I've never played it..looking forward to getting deep into it. also playing demon souls remake as I never finsihed it when it came out so decided to start again..We'll see how jumping between the games works out for me

Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Just left Mexico and arrived in Peru. The visuals are very, very nice. Swimming through the underwater caves made me squirm a bit. Escaping the tsunami in Mexico was a great little sequence. Gameplay is pretty good, too; Always enjoyed using a bow and arrow in games and I think I'll try to use it as much as possible.

Trying out God of War 2018 again. 4 years ago I tried this and fell off pretty quick- not what I expected at all. Very slow paced in comparison to the older titles. I feel like there could be something here worth playing, but.. in comparison, the old games were like enraged man tears through Greece, newer game was like old man takes walk in woods with son occasionally encountering mythological creatures.

This time around I'm a little farther, made it to the second area you might say. Going to try to stick with it a bit longer.

Finished Super Mario Galaxy 2. Fantastic game. I never got around to this during Wii despite playing the shit out of the first one. Nintendos creativity never ceases to amaze me. Bringing Yoshi into the mix opened up for new interesting level design and as a big fan of the green dragon, it was nice to see him back in a game like this. I really love the Galaxy-games. They are by far, the best 3D Mario for me. Odyssey came damn close but as it stand, Galaxy is the supreme champion to this day.

Currently replaying Stellar Blade (currently on sale!) on NG+, just picking at it here and there on flights and busses on my travel days, runs awesome on steam deck with a bit of setting finagling and looks amazing. I haven't played many character action games so I can't tell you how it holds up compared to its competitors but I absolutely adore it, one of the very few games I can bring myself to 100%. Love the combat, love the setting, absolutely beautiful worlds, fun enemies and bosses, and neat traversal. The weakest point is definitely its plot which lands at serviceable with voice acting being pretty flat for every character but Eve. Yes, Eve is also a hot as fuck sexpot and I do consider that a selling point, but the game would still be fantastic even if she wasn't. It is an experience elevated way beyond the gooner slop people tried to portray it as.

The other game I've been playing is Loop Hero, which is a nice game for when you want to turn your brain mostly but not all the way off. Not quite an idle game but also not quite an "active" game, it is nice for when I'm exhausted after a 12 hour night shift and I just want to play aquick run or two of something that isn't going to require precision inputs from me before I crash for the evening. Soundtrack is way better than it has any right to be, but even so its probably not worth full price. Pick it up when it goes on sale if you're interested.

For multiplayer games, I've been playing Arc Raiders and Deep Rock Galactic which I'm sure you've already played if they're the sorts of games that interest you. Not much to say on them except that they're both fantastic with friends and a few beers as long as nobody on the couch is a sweat. I look forward to that new Deep Rock Rogue-like, hopefully it is solid.

My main MP game right now: Highguard. I love it.
My main SP game right now: replaying Max Payne 1 I guess.

My co-op game with Friend #1: Borderlands 3
My co-op game with Friend #2: Saints Row 3 Remastered
My co-op game with both friends: Outriders

In that weird interstitial period between releases I'm looking forward to (RE9 next week), tend to jump between my backlog stuff and see what sticks.

Plat'd Nioh 3, finished Romeo is a Dead Man. Plat'd Cocoon last night (cool little game), got back into Diablo 2 and started a Paladin. Picked up Lovish and finished half the levels. Gave up on Ultros despite being completely blown away by it's visual style, too often the flow is interrupted by figuring out where to go next, gets tedious. Continued my journey with Rogue Prince of Persia, think I'll mostly stick with that until Requiem drops.

I'm trying out a Medieval 2 Total War mod called Hundert Years War. It's completely in Russian so I'm using google translate with screenshots. It's got like 100x more effort than the couple other mods about the Hundred Years War, so obviously I wanted to play this one instead of the ones I can actually read.
fCFFufRdnVA9dgO8.png

It's a really complicated mod, too. It's got a form of the rpg systems I'm sort of familiar with from Stainless Steel, and you pay more when your armies are on enemy land, which I remember from The Italian Wars. Tons of new buildings and units too, and as France I start with like 30 cities a bunch of which hate me already, and I'm losing money of course. Gonna be on Turn 1 for a whiile lol.

Also I'm gonna find a Cyrillic to Roman chart or something. Not being able to read city names is rough and doesn't seem too hard to figure out.

The new GoWs are such weird games for me. The old ones... infinitely repayable. The new ones... LOVED 2018 the first time I played it but after that it was somewhat done. Tried several times to replay it... no chance, it bored me to death. Ragnarok equally.... slogged myself through. Didn't do most of the side stuff. Assuming the don't shake up the formula I'm done with the series.
