Just realized the devs are Italians, now I want my tax money back!!
Sure. Please fill in this 10-page form, attach fiscal declarations for you, your family and your ancestors from the last 100 years, and make sure you have grand-grandchildren who will collect the €6.82 we may actually owe you after all the required checking. Meanwhile, enjoy gas soaring towards 2€/l.

Wait, there's a Switch 1 version?

"It annoys me the chuds are blaming the woke, not the real reason why its bad!"

"But I'm proud having it, won't refund it, because it is woke!"

I dont even think the developers are woke or leftist.

They just use this purple segment to grift their own government fundings. As seen in such replies, by siding with woketards, you get extra protection from criticism

I actually think the game looks "kind" of fun and even somewhat interesting. I sometimes like trying out low rated or "bad" games just out of curiosity as weird as that may sound.

With the protagonist's hair style, they could probably sell a fair amount of hairstyles DLC though. Honestly, I think with a different hairstyle she could look pretty decent and it would boost the score up a few points for the mainstream.

Suddenly Star Wars Outlaws, Foresaken and Uknown 9 don't look so bad. Amazing.
Lol don't put Outlaws and to some extent Forsaken in this list/compare it with this game.

Outlaws is actually a good game, it's just that it was very expensive to make and the SW license meant it had to be sanitized to get that rating. Outlaws has impeccable art direction, graphics and industry leading accessibility options. The gameplay, while simple and Ubisoft like, works and is fun. The "stuff" that would have made the game "amazing" basically was out of the scope of the project.

Forspoken is also decent if you get it cheap and mute the VA/dialogue. The traversal and combat are fun. Gameplay loop is stale but works alright.

you're right but having played it, I can tell you that it does look nice and fun only in videos, the moment you start playing the game you'll quickly realise there's really nothing to it, most of the graphics are assetflips and the combat and story are just very boring. There's nothing new or anything exciting to continue playing.

This is basically a college project.

Honestly, I've quite enjoyed Outlaws for what it is, a visually striking Ubisoft sandbox.

Ex Voto, on the other hand, is comically lazy UE5 Asset Slop and it never was worhty of such a long thread.

lol, it's too bad because some of the art's actually quite nice, and we need someone else to step up to the plate to make fully historical medieval games now it sounds like Kingdom Come Deliverance director is leaving games. Seems like on Ex Voto the environmental, concept, clothing and marketing art people were the only ones on the team with any talent, though.
It's just default UE5 rocks and trees man. During the preplanning phase, the inspo board for the art direction just had "nanite rocks" written there in plain text.

I meant the buildings (which I suppose could also be from the UE asset store, idunno), and apart from the main character, I like the design of the cover of the game.

Hard to tell, but this is a perfect example of "all UE5 games look the same". It's not even a bad look, but it's becoming the modern gen version of UE3 piss filters. Which were a revelation at first as well. At least they were mostly performant.

Searching for a smoking gun, it was recently "discovered" that 1348 Ex Voto received roughly €656,131 in government tax credits and grants from 2021 to 2024, via the Italian Ministry of Culture's Video Games Tax Relief program. "Turns out Ex Voto 1348 was funded through the Italian grants system, so Italian taxpayers funded propaganda," news aggregation account Pirat_Nation stated on X.

(My Italian's pretty rusty ngl, and this is extremely bureaucratic, but I assume that the really important part is the last two pages?)

There doesn't seem to actually be any requirement that the game promote any certain values, but maybe that comes into play when it's decided which developers get the funding? I wouldn't know, gonna need to hear from our Euro posters :pie_open_mouth:.

If it really is this easy, damn, I'm jealous. These kinds of grants are way harder to get over here! I also want "€656,131 (roughly $752,000) in government tax credits and grants".

You don't really need to click the article since I got all important stuff, but here https://kotaku.com/1348-ex-voto-lgbtq-propaganda-tax-credits-steam-reviews-2000678922

It never fails: when some media use the word "conspiracy" you know they are trying to deny proven facts.

It's common practice in Europe. The amount of grift and propaganda paid by tax payer money is mind-boggling. It really drives me mad. There would be nobody living in the streets if we used that money in fighting poverty, no joking.

Dunno but if Dustborn could get eurobucks, then I'd guess anyone can.

Anyone hurting for money, just search out the gov for grants. It seems many countries have a big pool of money for gaming and tech no matter how shitty the product. The gov probably doesnt even care what you make or do spot checks. So the dev got a free $750k US to make a game.

On the other hand, there's zero chance of people getting a free wad of $750k to open up a restaurant or bakery or something like that. If they doled that out to the 1000s of small eateries the gov would go broke.

But be a small gaming studio and it seems like there's good money to grab. Dustborn was another one. They got over $1M from both a Euro grant and a Swedish or Norwegian one (wherever it was made). So not only is there country grants, but even continental grants!

And notice how the only """games""" that are granted this money are lefty based, "progressive" crap. Imagine if I wanted to make a small indie title like pre nerfed Skullgirls where the females actually looked like females and not trannies, or I dared not have LGBT crap front and center in the game. I already know I would get denied the second I showed them my game idea; show them a screenshot of some dogshit like Ex Voto, Relooted, or Dustborn and all of a sudden that sweet start up capital funds start rolling in.

This touches me personally because I'm a full time fantasy-sci fi writer in my forties, and can't even get into literature contests because they are infested by the pro-Palestine crowd. I hate these people with passion. At the end of the day, I find solace in the audience's feedback, extremely positive, but I can't expect any publisher or public institution to favor me, even if I became Sanderson overnight.

The arts and culture scene in Europe is fucked up beyond salvation.

Activists in the same literal fucking paragraph:
"Chuds celebrating and blaming woke"
"I will always support people who are willing to tell inclusive stories" aka wokeness, aka performative identity politics.

I also wonder how they feel about these badass women with swords:

Something tells me this person would pretend to hate these female characters with a burning passion because they're obviously feminine and not trooned up.

You would never find those details in these kind of official documents, these docs are all about the incredibly wordy legalese way every official document is written (UCAS would be proud, so incredibly bureaucratic it could be another language). How is this applied is another thing, the commission that used this guidance and how.

Hypocrisy is a word definitely not included in the woke leftist dictionary or in their brains for that matter

'Grifter' is a favourite word, though. I was thinking about how fleecing a government by saying you want to make a DEI game is the very definition of a grift. Particularly since the people paying for such projects get no say in it and what results is games that are often full of technical issues, poor game play, etc. Basically the devs say "lesbian", get government money, make a minimal effort product, and all this is done with other people's money. Bet people like that Ree poster would never call these devs "grifters", though. That's only for people who disagree with their ideology.

Frankly, the ugly-ass bowl cut is probably the only period-appropriate thing about this mess. It was the standard haircut for pretty much every guy in the 1300s. Weird that people are attacking that one part specifically.

that is not woke. lesbians are hot
When considering lesbians being hot, where do you fit into the fantasy? Teaching them how to be hetero or just watching? Have you met real lesbians? For my taste, the vast majority are very far from hot. Chilly or heck, frigid even.

What stupid take is this? Being a lesbian isn't a race. Just like being gay or other labels. A hot, ugly, healthy, ill, rich, poor can be those. Don't let social media influence you. Those people that are loud, are the minority, not the regular people.

As for fantasy, anyone can be the hero or the main focus. There is no criteria to it. It all depends on who is narrating it. The best Jesus interpretation in film industry is made by a an atheist.

The issue with those topic, is that you are removing personalities, which is why you end up with bland interpretation. The person in the story need to be relatable. Being a lesbian doesn't mean you don't struggle with daily lives. These small moments make us relate to the character in some way or another.

p.s I worked with lesbians. Both hot and meh ones.
