Splatoon Raiders is coming July 23, announced in Nintendo Today. A "single player focused Splatoon". Looks awesome! And three new amiibo. Will post the trailer when they upload it on X.

Maybe I'm a fucking retard, but I still don't really understand what this game is. Is it just the single player from the other games on it's own?

Doubt Nintendo announces anymore release dates this week. Natethehate has one more week for them to announce this so so called new Star Fox game.

Excited for this game though, splatoon is great.

Nice, that's really soon. I've enjoyed the base singleplayer mode in all of these games so I'll definitely check it out.

A single player Splatoon experience that takes place in an actual eviroment instead of cubes floating in nothingness is a nice change of pace and it could be fun, but I fail to see the generational leap here. Nintendo keeps releasing games that look and feel like it they would ran on the OG Switch with adjusted performance.

Levels look pretty basic and featureless so I wonder if the meat of the game is on the min-maxing of builds instead of the actual level design as usual in Nintendo games.

Announcing this kind of things on the app in random days instead of setting up a good Nintendo Direct really makes me feel like I'm being dragged through the mud. There's barely any info on everything and they just drop stuff like this any random day. Hard to look forward to anything.

What does single-player focused even mean? Does it still have MP of some kind, but just less? Is it SP only?

Anyway, it looks more like single player Salmon Run if anything, which I'm on board for. Surprised to see it's Switch 2 exclusive, because that's not immediately apparent visually. Maybe the larger world has something to do with it.

Interesting that this is SP focused. From the name, I thought that it would be some sort of extraction shooter.

I hope it's not timed based. Cover X amount of the world before the countdown timer or you will never see the next level. That kind of stuff kills games for me.

Only Switch 2 game I'm interested in.
TBH, it looks like it could have been S3 DLC, like Last Order.

Huh was this only announced via this tweet/trailer?

I'll take it in any case! Always liked the concept of Splatoon but just didn't really care for having to sweat in a team-based multiplayer mode.

It's only 50€ in Europe. So it's probably not a very big scope game.

their single player campaigns are usually relatively small scope. so it's probably gonna be a bit bugger scope than the usual ones, but with the missing multiplayer they probably think no one's gonna buy a full price entry

Nice, by the looks of it this game seems to be heavily based on the Salmon Run mode of the main games. Its a mode where players need to survive 3 waves of salmons in an arena and collect eggs by defeating bosses, its PVE and has a tight game design where enemies have a clear AI behavior and specific weaknesses to be defeated while also using a lot of parkour platforming.

From what I can see we will be facing the same enemies now in some sort of open world, and instead of a group of players we will have more weapon customization and a lot of abilities. It has the potential to be a fun 3rd person shooter with platforming to explore the world, I'm sold already lol.

Btw, for people who are new to Splatoon, the games have singleplayer campaigns that can last from 5 to 10 hours depending on how much you want to do and unlock, the levels in these games are a lot linear but still very well made.

Wario64 posted on twitter that Raiders digital version is $50, it seems Nintendo is really doing that "digital games are cheaper than physical now" strategy.

Guess this means no April Direct, unless it's 3rd party focused. Can't remember Nintendo ever going 4 months without a general Direct..

So it's Salmon run + crafting and without the co-op. I'll be honest I was expecting a bit more.
Pinch of Last Order DLC too of course. It doesn't get the attention it deserves. I think it's a much better Rogue-like than Returnal. Top tier stuff even.

If thats the case I'll put it in the Switch 2 store wishlist.
One of the characters in this video threw out a turret like a Borderlands vault hunter. :)
I'm speculating, of course. But the treasures, the crafting and the "Raiders" all seem to point in the same direction.
Looks like it was forked out of the Splatoon 3 expansion that was also a roguelike about stat polishing iirc

Honestly, this looks pretty great. I've enjoyed the other Splatoon games, to a degree, but always been turned off by the multiplayer-only aspect. This looks like exactly the type of game I wished the others were.

I'm in, I enjoy the world and mechanics of Splatoon far more than I do the multiplayer element of it. If I had a crew of friends to play with it would be different, but as a father of young kids I find it difficult to make/coordinate with friends and it's not too much fun playing with/against random people all the time. If they have turned this into a full fledged single player game I'm pretty excited.

Echoing what others have said, this absolutely looks like a Switch 1 project ported to be exclusive to SW2. I get it, they are trying to push new console sales, but boy am I ready for a graphical fidelity upgrade in Splatoon. We have been stuck at essentially the same level since the series inception, since Wii U -> Switch 1 was moreorless a sidegrade in horse power.

Welcome back Jet Force Gemini. TPS Adventure game with SP focus sounds like a winner. Looks like fun. Hope it's meaty and has weapon swap.

You can't look forward to something unless it's in a direct or other type of showcase?? What?

I am disappointed that Nintendo is not pushing anything graphically. I played RE9, the S2 can do amazing shit. This looks crisp af, but they could push for some more details like grass etc (even BOTW had better than this).

I hate the Splatoon aesthetic, even though I love the gameplay. I'll wait for reviews.
