Mass Effect 3 Comic-Con Announcement: Canon Female Shepard Appearance Vote

If they're going to make the game more TPS-ey at least fix the God-damned cover system. Half of the time I'd tried to get into a cover by pressing forward + X (or whatever) but I pressed it a tad too long and Shepard ended up jumping over the cover and got shot to death. At least let me assign a different button to jump over the cover.
They switch how it works now, so you now have an arrow tell you exactly what you will do when you enter cover and press a button/direction.

They really have no shame.
We've seen this already actually. It refers to the way they handle weapon customization.

Assuming the rumors are true, they also have a level up system in multiplayer.

What... am I watching? o_o

I'll just check back later for the announcement.
Why was there a projected image of a face on a road while driving?
What was that?! What did I just miss?!

Am I the only one that thinks the pulse logo looks like it was taken from a shaving cream brand?

Ohhhh the character models look pretty good in those screens, :D

I'm still curious as to how they will explain Liara being with you. I love the series but they had a perfect setup for her at the end of SB.

Well, to be fair, when the galaxy is being destroyed by Reapers, I don't think it's too unusual to prioritize defeating them.

So an RPG developer is looking at First-Person Shooters for new RPG elements to put in their games?

We've really come full circle, haven't we?

Wow that dj event looks awkward as hell.

That screen looks nice. At least the Mattock is coming back, that gun is a monster and just plain satisfying to shoot.
At this point it seems that most if not all guns from ME2 will be back, as well as the new guns such as the Falcon assault rifle.

Also, the mattock has been nerfed while using adrenaline rush, the firing rate is definitely slower than ME2 where you could fire as fast as you could without it active.

or you know

they are looking at the shooters to improve the shooting in their game

Weapon customization doesn't improve the shooting, though. It's totally a secondary RPG element.

It's actually a good idea, I just find the progression of the idea funny.

Something is being announced, but we don't actually have anything beyond speculation at what it is.
Why do I get the feeling that it is going to be something really lackluster? Something like "now you can change the colors of your squad's outfits!"

That would be so awesome! The Rainbow-Squad!

Seriously though, I dunno what they are going to do, maybe some horde/co-op mode, i now doubt its actually multiplayer

Weird, that kinda reminds me of brink.

I'm really glad there is some skill choice in the progression this time. I still think you could pull more than 4 skills, a class skill and maybe a loyalty skill if that mechanic is still around. Even so, 4 is much better than 2 (I'd forgotten how few skills companions had in ME2)

I hope they don't stymie your choices with skill unlocking requirements. Last time around, if you maxed out the class skill and the loyalty skill, you couldn't max out skill 2 because of that requirement. Seeing a bunch of locked skills on a list of 10 is fine, seeing it on a list of 2 is incredibly dumb.

I know they won't do this, but it would be super cool if they added back in the ME1 heat mechanic for when a gun is out of thermal clips. I played sentinel, and being out of pistol rounds against armored targets sucked.

That would take away from potential dlc though :P

Bioware prefers to refer the game as a "Call of Duty" or "Halo" experience in space with tons of RPGs elements but said elements are not dice based or deep enough to confuse players.

See my problem with this is that BioWare at its heart is an RPG developer. They're a bit out of their depth trying to make Mass Effect more and more shooter-like. No matter what they'll probably never be able to make the game control as well as COD or Gears, and they'll probably always miss some of the minutia that make those games great.

It's why we've never seen an action RPG attain a perfect balance between the stat/party management of an RPG and the twitch combat of an action game. They're always developed by studios with experience doing one or the other, and thus always end up feeling like one type of game with elements of the other.

Right now Mass Effect is feeling like an average shooter with light RPG management.

During the Q&A session today, Casey Hudson mentioned 2 things about squadmates-they will now have friendship paths separate from the romance ones, and depending on how you go about the story, they may disagree or oppose what you're doing to the point that they'll leave or you'll have to fight/kill them.

The new friendship thing sounds almost exactly like the system from Dragon Age, which I think is a good choice..

Bioware TV is cringe-worthy.

Seriously, I felt like it was aimed at some nerds who draws nude pictures of Bioware characters......

That's really a great improvement, probably the first clear one since the game was announced.

Now if only they add party banter....

God yes, ME3 needs a DA-style party banter system. Show off those writing skills Bioware!

Definitely approve of two different conversation paths (friendship vs romance). Hopefully it'll be fixed so you don't unintentionally fall into a romance this time (unlike DA:O and ME2), and at least allow you to end it if you do (I'm looking at you ME2).

No problems with potentially having to kill party members or having them leave out of disgust. For the most part Origins handled that fine, and it was pretty obvious when it was going to happen. There was one exception however that required a reload on my part because of ambiguous writing (which, paraphrasing, amounted to "I'm going to check out the situation before deciding") caused me to get into a fight and have to kill
Wynne
.

During the Q&A with Casey, someone asked about multiplayer and he basically said that it would not be in ME3 (at launch?).

I still haven't played a single Mass Effect game and some of these character models aren't making it any easier for me to get into the series.

Although, Thane Krios is still one of the most awesome video game character designs I've ever seen. :D

Do you have a pc that you could game from? They put the original on sale pretty regularly at pretty low prices (typically below $10 from what I see), and 2 is getting to the point where it will be pretty cheap too.

If you're even the slightest curious still, I really recommend keeping an eye out for sales.
Otherwise, you could probably find either for a reasonable price on console without too much trouble.

Don't let any off-looking models keep you from checking this series out.

I agree, some of their designs are pretty amazing. I've mentioned this before, but to me this salarian armor from ME1 is probably one of my favorite designs in a VG, and (at least the helmet) it is terribly underused.

Yous should give the game a chance, as you can find both pretty cheap nowadays.

So, the announcement is expected soon yes?
