Microsoft reverses some recent Xbox Live bans

That's not cool. You've been misinterpreting my posts this whole thread, which is fine, but it's not really on to single someone else out in a nigh-on stalkerish manner because of their job description. Can we just stick to having a discussion?

You too seem to have an agenda, by the way. An incredibly childish one.

lol, wow. So he gets banned unfairly and he responds by rewarding MS with another $300?
I'll never understand this shit.

darthbob said:
Microsoft isn't liable for that. I mean, it's a shitty situation, but it's not something he was forced to do.

At least he could sell the unbanned one or something.
Yeah I totally agree. MS may have done the initial fuck-up, but only a true moron would come out of that situation with the intention of buying a brand new console, making a new account, buying new games on the new account, ect. It's not Microsoft's fault that he bought another system.

The problem is, it isn't his job description.

Rule of thumb, never defend a company unless you work for them.

Yeah, like you. :|

As we see here, you blame microsoft for people getting their account hijacked. The employees are dumb for getting bested...like sony getting bested by a hacker is completely different, I'm sure. It's free!

Or here which is just one post out of many of you railing on MS again.

Or here, in a kinect thread.

I hate this detective GAF shit but I recognize you and know you got banned for this stuff in the past, and I'm only calling you on on your "witch hunt" because you're the last person who should be sitting on a high horse.

Ease up on darthbob, guys.
It's not like Stream pays their support staff especially well.

Besides that, providing customer support for Xbox is a pretty fun gig. I miss my days doing that.

Yet, those example posts that you supplied don't show me blindly supporting a company that I don't work for.

Makes me wonder if any previous bans were done in error. Clearly their software is flawed. Good they're investigating it further.

No you don't. Its been 3 weeks and I'm still trying to figure out what the hell I did. I got banned during this period for "marketplace theft" and MS still won't tell me what I "stole."

Like he said having 1600 mspoints and 3 month gold is no conpensation for having to buy another console, hopefully MS put him right

Have him send me the 360 and write it off as a tax donation. >_>

This. My 360 red-ringed, I traded in all my 360 games, bought the good multiplats for my ps3, then bought some exclusives for ps3.

I had a lot of DLC as well, I still have my HDD and for ME3's release I'll eventually play it on my friend's xbox, but Microsoft isn't going to get any more money from me for shoddy hardware.

The service being down is different than your console being (seemingly permanently) banned when you did nothing wrong, obviously.

Losing my personal information so I have to spend dozens of hours in emails/phone calls trying to get back a dozen accounts some that have my CC attached, not to mention dealing with the bank on these charges is different than being temporarily unfairly banned.

wow. i take back everything i said for all those years about MS being very careful and erring on the side of caution in their console bans!

where is my plate of crow?

Crazy that they won't even tell you what you did. In all of these ban topics I used to remember people linking to the official xbox forum where mods would respond to people being banned, did you try going there and asking for proof?

Have you called in at all to ask what the deal is?

Were you seriously having your identity/CC used/stolen?

My email password is different than the password I used for PSN with that same email.

Those are the only 2 things linked that a person who hacked PSN would have access too. If you see activity on your CC, call your bank/credit provider...

PSN hack didn't really affect me, certainly not in the way people try to blow it up to be.

"Not as bad"? It's bad. Both things are bad.

Microsoft should at least address the issue, but they won't.

It's a paid service; any amount of bad press will put their reputation down the shitter.

BigJiantRobut said:
This thread is about them addressing an issue

what are you even talking about

That's a good start, but they should address the other issue as well instead of silently taking care of it. The Windows Live-Xbox Live merger made people's accounts vulnerable. It should have been addressed.

I know someone who was banned, he had no idea why was told by support that his console was modded and it wasnt in any way, basically told it is unreverseable and no more info can be given

He ended up buying another 360 a few weeks ago and today his old one was unbanned

Like he said having 1600 mspoints and 3 month gold is no conpensation for having to buy another console, hopefully MS put him right

No offense to you, but your friend is an idiot.

yup. they send you to a pre-made forum post that says "we wont divulge what you did." if they don't do that they send you a "your post has been deleted by a mod" e-mail.

the support forums are a joke, and the people who get paid to do that have the easiest job in the world. the phone support "cant divulge the information" either, and they send you to the forums. which is a big run around too.

I guess you could say that you get what you pay for.

thats what I would do. What am I supposed to do buy a PS3 and re-buy all that content? $200 for a new 4gb to put my HDD into would be cheaper.

and how else would I play Guardian Heroes...

Yep. Shitty support and credit card security with xbox live verus free(shitty) psn where your credit card info is easily obtainable, and you have to agree to not sue the company in order to use their hacked service.

Trolling troll is terrible at trolling. Go make a psn is free thread and keep your wonderful insight on xbox live out of here.

If I was wrongfully banned and MS said lolfuckyou I'd sell that shit and never buy another xbox product again. Fuck that noise.

Does this include the forums? I trolled the halo 3 forums there once and they banned me til 2164.
That's the year of the first interplanetary war in the Halo universe.

Edit: I just felt like sharing that.

You seem wholeheartedly convinced no one you know or anyone else rebought a 360.

If people are dumb enough to rebuy the entire console, why does it matter? Not like the sale numbers are lying.

phosphor112 said:

I know. Out of 60 or so people on my friends list on Live, I could probably count on one hand the number of people who have not had to buy a new 360 at some point.

I'm sure people have, but there are over 50 million Xbox 360s sold, I have a very hard time believing any significant portion of them were people who rebought one after their 360 broke. Especially since there was a three-year warranty on said RROD capable models.

Too bad the 3 year extension doesn't exist on Slims. :'(

Still, my experience with those have been pretty good. :)

The slims don't have significant hardware failures, so it's not that big of a deal.
