Ok, I think the writers are purposely trying to make Andrea as unlikable as possible.

Seriously, what a fucking dumb moment for her.

I really didn't like the Merle scene. Too long and ridiculous imo...

But overall a good ep. I'm kinda annoyed that Glenn is this dumb though. Yea that chick is hot, and I'd love to bang her too, but Dale is right: risking safety to bang the hand that feeds' daughter....eh

I'm still shocked this lost girl shit has dragged on for so long. It's annoying as hell

Heh, as soon as I saw that preview last week, I knew Merle was going to be a hallucination. Still, great scenes with him and a good overall episode, though this Sophia thing just needs to end, now. We're what, halfway into the season and she still hasn't been found?

Glad to see them sticking to the comics when it comes to the barn, but man they're butchering Andrea's character. Here's hoping they resolve Sophia next week, and have a much better conflict for the final episode before going into the break, because I don't want to wait 2 months to find out her fate.

The flashback was interesting. It was cool that they showed Atlanta being bombed, although when Rick and crew were there in season 1, I don't remember seeing any signs that the city had been napalmed. Maybe I missed it?

There were some pretty good character moments too, I thought. Glenn and Dale, Rick and Shane. Even the Merle and Daryl scenes were pretty good, although way too much time was spent on Daryl limping around. Although it would also be a bit strange if he reverted to his bitchy season 1 self. He's made quite a bit of progress, so I hope that they don't go that route.

Why was the barn door shaking at the end though? It never shook before, otherwise everyone would have been alerted to the zombies much earlier. I'm assuming that Hershel is keeping zombies in the barn because he thinks there will be a cure, and he can save them? Despite the fact that the zombies are all rotted, and are obviously missing...pieces, Hershel probably figures that they'd still be alive, and could maybe survive on machines or something. Or maybe they're using them for food.

Seems they've decided to start recording the audio for the Talking Dead segment through a soup can, guess too many people were watching it before.

if there's anything that saves tonights episode from being complete shit is Darryl except for that tedious and dumb scene with Merle.

Also, wtf at Andrea's amateur hour with that rifle. Almost kills the decent likable character in the show.

The Sophia shit needs to end. I don't care if Daryl makes a necklace out of her ears and gives it to the mother as a gift, just end it.

Andrea needs to either turn into a hardened bitch or die already.

This pregnancy thing is going to drag on forever. Lori just needs to tell Rick about Shane because there's obviously no getting past her moping until it happens.

And fuck fuck fuck the writers for making me think Daryl was dead like three separate times in twenty minutes.

Still, it was a great episode in spite of being written by people who obviously hate their fans.

Andrea is determined to be the worst character on this show.
Exactly what I was thinking, really hoping Daryl puts an arrow in her head, she needs to go asap. Daryl is a boss along with Shane, my two favourite characters, don't really care much about anyone else. Wonder why the old man has locked up zombies? Maybe some religious type thing trying to save them?

Just like how he reminisces about Otis, he just can't let them go.

The hell is wrong with Andrea? With how close the other guys were to Daryl she could have accidentally killed any of them. :|

Someone please take away her gun privileges; she's no longer allowed to play Annie Oakley. Everyone has their place, and she would be better serving the group by washing clothes or cooking or anything not involving guns. She wants to be treated with respect and one of the boys, but she just constantly fails at everything.

Also am I the only one hoping Sophia crawled into that barn and became walker food? I absolutely agree with Shane, one of their most valuable members almost got himself killed today over a doll. That kid is either dead or she will go on surviving somehow if she's done so for this long and apparently doesn't need the help of the group or her mom.

It's discussions like these that make me glad I read the comic, love seeing opinions of those who haven't from outside the box. Can't wait to see everyone's thoughts later about some things/people/etc...it's pretty interesting to see.

But yeah Daryl is a certified badass.

I didn't get a good look at the end of the arrow, but it wasn't a wide arrowhead, was it? It looked like a very small one.

When you think about it, would you rather have the soft plastic and shaft scrape through your insides? or the cold, hard and sharp edged metal side slip through your soft belly again?

I think it would honestly depend on what type of arrowhead you were using, but your point is well made.

Don't forget the forced reversal of all the bodily bits, from the skin on the outside to the internal veins and various bits of muscle and even potentially organs. You should always pull it through completely, it will leave the least amount of damage. I would've broke the arrow off in the back to minimize the protrusion, but if it was fiberglass or metal or carbon fiber that is not happening without help and tools.

Anyway, strong episode. This season is doing a lot better than last season on the whole. As far as the zombies and the reason they're in the barn, yeah, it's almost certainly hope for a cure and likely family or others that they knew, though I expect at some point it doesn't matter, the hope or idea of a cure means that ultimately if you don't let any zombie be killed, because it'd be like murder, at least in the minds of those who believe there is a cure, which Hershel believes (in the first or second episode he said that they were holding out for a cure, so that was foreshadowed). Obviously we know a cure is not in the books (the brain is brain dead, no oxygen, no heart action, they're literally rotting corpses that can move). But Hershel doesn't know that and can be accepted as delusionally believing a cure is possible, particularly if close family is infected in the barn.

This was definitely my favorite episode of S2, maybe the whole run so far. I can't wait to hear Hershel's excuse for keeping a barn full of zombies.

The episode was really good. I think the formula for a good episode is Daryl being a bad ass + a bit of Dale. That's pretty much it. Fucking Andrea. Easily the most unlikeable character on the show. Yes, even more so than the woman who just cries all the time. I thought she actually killed him. I was f'ing pissed. This show has such dull main characters that they just can't kill someone like him off. Datyl and Dale can't die. The ending was weird. Not sure what to make of that.

This season is slow as hell. The farmer chick is super cute though. It seems like its all building to a boiling point at that farm house, can't wait to see it go boom!

Sophia storyline has got to end. Dragging this shit down. Why can't it be as brisk and well-paced as the comics? Also, I hope Andrea ends up dead soon. Best character in the comics, worst character on the show.

The only things this show gets right is the violence, Daryl, Dale, and opening title music.

the most disappointing thing about this show is what they did to andrea. she's one of my favorite characters in the book and she's just a moron in this show.

What's so different about her in the show?

I think the show's has gotten better even though there's still issues with the pacing and several unlikable characters. The search for Sophie does need to end and perhaps it will be coming to a close by the next episode. However, I think at this rate Sophie will be found alive given all of the clues the gang has found about her possible survival.

I sure hope Maggie sticks around as she's the best looking woman in the show so far. Would more sex be enough to keep Glenn quiet?

she's a lot more annoying and... older. andrea's impulsiveness in the show would fit a younger character better. in the books, she's extremely dependable. in the show, dale keeps telling her not to do things.

actually, basically this.

In the comic, Andrea is
a fucking badass. She's the best shot in the group, and she frequently takes sniper duties for them. She's saved people's asses multiple times. She's a hardened destroyer of the undead. I hope she gets there eventually in the show.

A little more spoilery regarding comic Andrea, read at your own risk:
in the comic, Andrea has a romantic and sexual relationship with (continued in next spoiler if you want to read)

second part of above spoiler:

Dale. Who doesn't come off as quite so old in the comic. They seem pretty happy together.

That would be fucking awesome, the more Daryl / Daryl like characters the better.

It seems pretty obvious they writers are trying to go this route with her, and make her appear more like Daryl, but they're doing it in such an awful way, and like someone has said having the old man babysit her and question her every time she does anything is really annoying, along with her reactions to it all. Shame they aren't handling her well, sounds like she could be a really great character.

In the comics Andrea is a total badass and definitely one of the better characters. In the television series I want her to die.

I can't believe nobody even got upset at her for what she did and all Dale did was make a joke of it. Like seriously?

GODDAMN THIS EPISODE WAS EPIC!!!

Loving this season!

But man... I was livid when I thought Daryl was dead. I mean like, "I don't want to watch this show anymore" levels of angry.

lol Welcome to The Walking Dead.

Maybe its more a statement of how bad the last episode was, but I found this episose solid. At least they built some legit tension, and the flashback scene at the beginning was great.

For those complaining about Andrea it's pretty clear they are developing her character more and more into how she is in the comic.

She wasn't badass in the beginning issues either.

not that i've seen a ton of zombie flicks, but you don't actually see the zoomed-out look of the military fighting the hordes of the undead. it's always the aftermath. hard to tell what the situation was in particular on the road- if people knew that the dead were eating people or that there was just a serious disease going around, but that look of atlanta getting bombed was an 'oh shit' moment, one of those things that was clearly be a last resort. and you can see by the look on lori's and shane's faces that it's the turning point and they realize just how fucked things are.

Definitely seems like they're trying to get there, but from the perspective of someone who hasn't read the comics, they're doing a terrible job and making her very unlikeable before she reaches that stage, in which it might be too late when she does get there.

Alright episode. Daryl rules. They really need to drop the whole Sophia business, nobody cares and it has been going on for 5 episodes now. And the characters on this show make the dumbest decisions ever.

This may be what she is doing, but her ineptitude at this point means that no sane person should even be giving her a chance to prove herself. She completely disobeyed an order in some shitty attempt to prove herself and almost killed someone who is much more valuable than her in the process. Not only would I never let her touch a gun again, I would be considering putting a bullet in her head myself. People like that are only a liability that will get you killed.

He is using target points and not broadheads. Something I was looking for right after he got stuck to see just how screwed he was.
