The PlayStation Vita In 2011-2012

Katamari's controls looks really annoying. :(

flicking the screen the entire time? Wasn't the point of adding dual analog controls to avoid having to do things like that?

Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7, WB Games

What are the chances this has co-op with the PS3 version? I enjoy the lego games but never liked that "smart" screen spliting. It makes me motion sick

No Gravity at Launch....I think i'll hold fire now.

I might pick one up on a whim on launch day if they're available because unfortunately I do that sort of impulse buy when i'm out in town, but as of right now, my pre-order interest has been somewhat lessened.

You can use the analog sticks to move.

It's going to be launch window though, given it releases in Japan before Vita does in the West, lol.

Releases in Japan in february, right? PSVita not region locked. Do the maths :D

We can confirm that the following first party games will be available on 22 February 2012, when PlayStation Vita launches across PAL:
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
WipEout 2048
Reality Fighters
Little Deviants
ModNation Racers: Road Trip
Everybody’s Golf
Escape Plan
Gravity Rush
Hustle Kings
MotorStorm RC
Top Darts
Super StarDust Delta

Best first party launch line up ever?

Well if there are english subtitles then that is a possibility.

But still, as Takao states it will be in the launch window somewhere, but theres nothing I want that will make me put the money down right now for launch. Sometimes I think I'm a terrible gamer for only liking a select few genres....

Where exactly? Gravity Rush is being reported as a launch title right in this thread.

It's a PSN release. So it's just compatible with both. Basically game sharing just between PS3-Vita.
I wonder if it is game sharing because the game has to be two versions due to the different hardware. Unless the PS Store automatically detect if you're trying to download it on Vita or PS3.

It's supposedly got MAG and SOCOM pedigree working on it but I'd hate to be the guy making this when a COD game is announced for the VITA in the same year...

I enjoyed MAG and the Socom 4 beta but from the sounds of things, this doesn't have online. But yeah, compared to CoD, there's going to be very little attention paid to this and Resistance.

Sony's blog has Gravity Rush for the Euro launch.

Looks like Eurogamer missed it off their list.

That is a metric FUCKTON of first-party launch titles. Sony's body of studios has gotten freaking massive in the last few years.

Has any platform ever had that many first-party titles on day one?

Dumbest you mean. Right? What´s Sony is going to release after 5-6 month? It´s really stupid releasing all these games in the same day.

What's better...too many launch titles on day one, leaving plenty of stuff for people to buy during the post-launch drought, or just a couple and then a few months of nothing? I'd much rather have more choices to make on day one then the next few months of picking up stuff I want to try out on the cheap, instead of waiting for piecemeal releases.

I bet there is plenty we haven't heard about! Killzone, Resistance and Ruin aren't even there. Plus there seems to be a nice list of 3rd party too.

How is that dumb? Those games will still be there for you to buy six months after launch. You don't have to buy everything at once.

I'd go with the latter. May just 'unlock' a Vita version when purchased on PS3 and vice versa. It's nice way to get the game on both for sure, but I think people are praising it a little too much as we still don't know if retail games will offer such benefits.

...So why announcing new stuff today?anyway..Vita look really good now with many games to buy.

but I just need one small push to break my price rule and jump in..

one push..

But I don't think Sony will do that.

I am saying space them out. Launch 2 titles a month.

Sony should spam its titles or else they will cannibalize each other.

It´s dumb for 2 reasons

1- Releasing all these games on day one means that these games will cannibalize each game´s sales.

2- After a while (5-6 month) Sony will have a game droughts. They should count on themselves to space them out because third parties might cancel games if the VITA does not sell well.

They need to reacquire shelf space at retail. Launching with alot of games will give them the shelf space and exposure they need to make headway at retail.

Great list of 1st party games. Grant they are mostly all known quantities, but we are getting Gravity and Escape Plan for new unique titles.

Still looking for a go to online title for launch, and it appears to be either you get one of the racers or one of the fighters. Neither of which I fear will placate to friend who wants to get a system day 1 with me. We might just download Phantasy Star Portable 2 and roll with that and get the better offline Vita games that suit our interests.

Well, you either chance cannibalization and put out a bunch of different titles for launch so that more people interested in certain games pick the system up.

Or chance slower sales due to not enough interesting games being out.

Right. Not buying this at launch.

...I'll wait a week or so, and buy one pre-owned at my work (there will be some, I bet). With discount, I'll be looking at £175 for what is essentially a brand new Wifi Vita. A memory card on top of that price doesnt look so bad to me.

cant wait.

"So you buying a Vita?"

"Naw, doesn't have a game I want yet"

More games mean less chance of THAT scenario happening.

I somewhat agree to an extent, only because the post launch-window schedule looks barren.
Now, people can pick some of these games later sure, but at the same time some of these games desperately need more time in the oven.

I don't know, the release schedule seems a little too... unbalanced.

(I'll obviously sing another tune when delay reports start hitting :P)

Why are you assuming the post-launch window schedule is barren?

It's very possible that Sony is concentrating on the launch window games before announcing more. Today proves it - two more titles suddenly snuck in at launch. I think there are a lot more titles coming than you're assuming

Vita launch is reminding me of the Dreamcast launch all over again. It is packed.

Sony has to have other titles to spread out between release and the holiday season? It would make sense, otherwise why cram everything onto launch day?
