Except he wasn't. For him to say this was a song a 40 year old would sing shows how clueless he is about the industry.
He hasn't given her a single useful piece of criticism all season. Everything he's complained about has nothing to do with her vocal ability or potential as a pop singer. And if she did happen to go down the Rachel Crow-esque route of youthful bubbliness, he'd just say that she isn't being true to herself. Nothing she does will satisfy him.
"Good night, bye-bye!"
Delivered with about as much charm as a jury verdict...
I've been defending Lakoda Rayne a lot, but they sounded horrid tonight. And then the judges all say it was their best performance. I don't think they're watching the same show I'm watching.
I think they'll be in the bottom three.
And please send Astro home. Yes, he writes all these lyrics. I'm thrilled. Then he raps them. HE'S NOT SINGING. Does anyone know if he can actually sing? Whatever.
he's 4-5 years too young to be rapping. Bow Wow Wow yippy yo yippy yay where my dogs at, there's a reason nobody liked that kid aside from that song.
This.
She sounded horrible. She needs to stop doing that stupid hiccup after every note. I don't know why someone hasn't told her to stop doing that yet. And she's performing the same song every week. Change it up.
He's a RAPPER not a singer. What's so hard bout this for you to get. If you don't like rap that's fine but there's no reason for him to sing, he's not a singer. He can handle hooks himself and that's all he needs as a rapper.
nope, and I'm sure it's not just me either. Does Diggy Simmons sell albums or what?

Oh I thought this was a singing competition. What's so hard about that for you to get?

He's picking up a pretty good following. Not much hip hop is selling right now unless you have a song with Rihanna. Only new album that seems to be doing well right now without that is Camp. That's why this is so important. We need to get old school hip hop back.
I don't see how his lyrics tonight were anything but shit. Bragging about Twitter followers, spending half the song listing random countries that aren't even eligible to vote, "Show me what you got, X-Factor?" Creative genius, indeed. Also you are pre-judging because of age. Hey I'm with you I hated bow wow (except for him in Tokyo Drift) too but none of his lyrics are nothing like that shit.

It's not a singing competition, it's a music competition/popularity contest.Oh I thought this was a singing competition. What's so hard about that for you to get?
It's not my favorite genre, but I can still appreciate it when it's good. As for mainstream stuff, I love Jay-Z (I listen to "Off That" weekly at a minimum) and Kanye's stuff is addictive as hell. I wish he released "Paranoid" as a single, it's my favorite track of his. What current hip hop do you like? What's some good verses you like?
Its not. MCs are now an option. It's a singing MC competition. If you don't like that, watch American Idol. MCing was an option in x factor uk

Anyway, that's beside the point. Please defend Astro's lyrics from tonight. They were dreadful.
That's not necessarily true. Susan Boyle came in second on Britain's Got Talent to a dance group called Diversity.Right. Just like America's Got Talent is a talent competition but a singer wins it every time. A singer.
But hey, he's on the show, doing his thing. He's obviously very divisive. Some love him, some don't. I suspect he'll have a solid career; I recognize he has talent. I just don't think it belongs alongside people who are singing.

I think rap has a place on a show like X-Factor and rap acts should stand side by side with the singing acts. It is a vocal art, after all. I just don't think Astro is a good representative of the genre - he's a gimmick at best and I think the limits of his songwriting prowess will be exposed if he's still around these next few weeks. There's only so much he can do with cleverly inserting references to the judges and his fanbase. He needs more diversity in his lyrics, and that only comes with experience and maturity. That's what people mean when they say he's too young - it's not an inherent age-based bias at all.
Gerl, I'm just glad the show's finally given us something to talk about. I was worried for a second. This cat fight over Astro has been more entertaining than anything Astro has done.
You like Astro enough to transcribe his performances?Okay I tried to write the lyrics out because I couldn't find them online. These are absolutely brilliant and the most relate-able song hip hop track I've heard for a while (for someone who's 29, sung by a kid who's 15)
Uhh, this is dedicated to her...
The one and only girl that's known all over the world...
She's 40 year olds but I still try to speak to her...
We talk all the time and my heart beats through her...
She messed with the wrong dudes and now she's messed up...
Started doing drugs and showing kids that stuff...
She rocking jewelry, getting ballistic with whips, pistols, and materialistic things...
She changing slowly but still...
I rather be with her than chill with my homies...
Putting on my headphones and zone out...
Listen to my favorite rapper and she's the one I'm thinking about...
She left the hood and went to the bright lights...
And now her voice just don't sound right...
I see now she's having a few issues...
The truth is I miss you...
---I'll remember you hook---
Remember rap ain't do the heart to heart...
I never thought that boy girl could bring me this far...
I remember how we meet through the sugar hill gang...
She the only one I can depend on...
It may sound a little weird coming from a kid, she was here before I was born...
But we fell in love as soon as I knew what love was...
I want to get her back to the old her...
And stop letting the dances control her... (there has never been a more true statement about new hip hop)
I want to take it back to the old days when we connected by letting the records play...
But now it's the opposite of that with the dudes in your ear are just talking crack...
But good news for anybody missing her like I do, your boys bringing hiphop back (I get goose bumps with this one)

I like that song enough for that one, yep. I'm at probably 20-30 listens for that song.
Challenge flag thrown down. Throw me some modern hip hop lyrics that compare. Here I'll throw you some (these are from songs in the top 5 of hip-hop songs on itunes)...
"I wait out like nasa, i'm way over here I don't pass out
I get stacks of cash, you get .... I go hard, statues"
"Imma go hard, hard to the core
Hard like moth* f*c*in liquid swords"
"You aint got nothing on
But the t-shirt that I left over your house
The last time I came and put it on ya
Too many thirsty girls up in this club for me to
Leave here with one of them"
"I dont play football but ive touched down pretty much all around the world, all around the world
I dont play baseball but ive hit a home run all around the world, all around the world
Ive been to countries and cities I cant pronounce"
Do you now get why I support this kid? Compare the song I transcribed to the shit above me. If he can make it big, it could be a game changer.
Ummm...that's exactly what it is. You think every Hip-Hop artist make their own beat or something?
And Drew needs to chill with the attitude. He's only trying to help you out
Actually the message remix he did had nothing to do with judges or fans. He also has a good amount of original lyrics on YouTube he's done he can use. Wrong again.
lol why the hell are you using a T-Pain song as an example. People sure as hell aren't listening to that for the lyrical content.
