The PlayStation Vita In 2011-2012

Best first party launch line up ever?

Uncharted: Golden Abys
Gravity Daze
Escape Plan

For me

MAYBE Little Deviants as well. Honestly though, I have so many PSN PSP games that it's going to be a real treat seeing how they look/run on Vita, so I might not even get those games for a period of time, if money is a concern.

There are more games available at launch (first party only even) than I could possibly look to buy. Will need to choose between:

Uncharted: Golden Abyss
WipEout 2048
Little Deviants
ModNation Racers: Road Trip
Everybody’s Golf
Escape Plan
Gravity Rush
MotorStorm RC
Super StarDust Delta

Bolded are heading the queue right now.

(I can't believe there's so much quality there that I might conceivably wait a while for Uncharted)

Reposting from the Motorstorm thread

Let's hope more projects like Motorstorm RC are being made because it would be the smart thing to do.

Smaller teams from typical Sony console developers (Guerrilla, Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, Polyphony) working on dual Vita/PSN games while the big team works on PS3/4/Vita can only be good news for Sony and the gamers.

What do you guys think?

I would love to see a portable game from a small team of Naughty Dog or the God of War team. It's what Nintendo has done with Super Mario Land 3D (created by a smaller team within EAD Tokyo)

Only if these mini studios will do original IP and not just spin off games of existing ip.

Why can't be spinoff? If it's enough different from the original saga yet able to be enjoyable and appealing using installed brand force I don't see anything bad

- Uncharted
- Wipeout
- Gravity Rush
- Escape Plan
- Super STARDUST Delta
..... for me!

Phew, I will have a lot to play next february ^_^

That what made PSP software mostly a flop. A nerfed down version of much superior console counter part. They need to make unique content for the VITA and not just spinoffs.

That's not what I'm saying.
Killzone Liberation was quite a good game, different from the original yet good on sales. Also Syphon Filters were good enough and different. Sales problem are not directly linked to quality of games on PSP lineup.

Let's see how Uncharted will be accepted. It's the only Sony title that can be pulled on sales thanks to home counterpart

Being developed by a small team or being a spin-off is not nearly as much of a problem as having bad controls or being widely pirated.

So... No competitive multiplayer for Unit 13? And only 2 player Co op?

Fail. :c
Does it specifically say no competitive? I'm wondering if they're holding back on announcing that because they want to focus on the 3G selling "NEAR" functionality? Seems odd for it to be missing, particularly coming from Zipper.

I am not saying that these games will be bad or anything, but people tend to ignore most of these spinoffs. Notice that i said most, not all.

What are you talking about? Having a new IP is more interesting than having spinoffs, but i guess that´s just me.

Uncharted is probably gonna be received similar like God of War psp games. although we have to see if Bend does anything unique apart from console Uncharted. we already heard that it's gonna have more puzzles.

Marketing+Piracy prevention+sales incentives can make successful Spinoffs. Mario Kart is a Mario spinoff, has good quality and great marketing.

Bad omens are everywhere.

Life will be death.

It's just the teaser for the ads put up on the Vita community site.

Also:
dreamcast orange hoodie

So they put up a teaser teasing ads? wut

Guys I think my brain is dripping out of my ear...

Just saw that, hopefully they'll tweet more teasing things to give us an idea of what we can expect (though they can GTFO if all it tweets are trophy unlocks etc.). Something like what was done with Swords And Sworcery would be great.

Rather encouraging Gravity hands-on from the London event:

http://www.nowgamer.com/news/1142212/gravity_rush_is_ps_vitas_most_beautiful_game.html

We saw the game (known as Gravity Daze in Japan) this week at the PS Vita experience event in London, and got to go hands on with the third-person action game which not only sports a fantastic stylised palette and visual design, but also an extremely engaging core mechanic

While our flight height was capped in the demo we played, the UK producer also told us that the city we were playing in was a huge floating island and that the whole environment could be navigated much like an open-world game.

So it won't be split into levels, as such?

I was planning to have £300 saved for my Vita at launch. I think I might need closer to £400 now (Gravity Daze, Escape Plan, PS Vita (not sure if wifi or 3g), some PSN/Vita points)

Am just going by the shopto prices at the mo guess ill hold onto this £20 game voucher for a bit longer hope mortal kombat is ready for launch.
£39.99 RRP will hopefully mean real prices closer to £30. Assuming that's the real RRP.

I thought it was confirmed that profiles on a Vita would work the same as they did on a PSP?
Really? I didn't think this had been talked about at all officially yet? It'll be disappointing if that's the case, for importers at least.

The power/quality being showcased with day 1 games is pretty crazy.

Uncharted stand out above the rest though. I saw Unit 13 and Motorstorm and actually think they look pretty good, then I saw Uncharted then it's on a whole other level.

sadly many original japanese games that's not port from console is still psp quality rather than vita level.
