NHL December |OT| The Team You Cheer For is Not Good Compared To Our Team

As I bury my face in my hands, I feel a great sadness descend. A thought pricks my mind: I may be seeing the beginning of the end of a living legend who never gets to fulfill his destiny to its fullest. I may be seeing a young man with the most inspirational work ethic I have ever witnessed...fall. A man who is still 3 years away from hitting his prime, and who still has so much to give...fall. In a world of heroes, few reach the status of icon. In a world that is so full of ego and bravado, it is hard to be inspired by an athlete not only for his ability, but for his personality outside of his arena.

Sidney Crosby is more than a hockey player to me. He is a symbol of the greatness one is capable of through dedication, commitment, passion, loyalty, and hard work.

Whatever happens, I hope he does what's best for his health.

Well said Alu, fuck man I can feel your pain through this post. I'd give you a hug if I was there.

Stevens was a better player than Lindros. Had Stevens been a Flyer during his prime, he would have won a Cup and you guys would still be ballwashing him.

I'm pretty sure I've admitted Steven was great before.... I still hate him. I just disagree about the talent levels of Lindros and Stevens. Lindros didn't have the lengthy career, but he was just... better.

The Crosby situation makes me sad. I haven't seen the hit, so I can't say anything regarding it, but I honestly do wish players would hold each other to a better standard with safety and respect throughout the league. I hope things turn up for him.

The hit is grasping at straws from an already bad situation.

To make things even better for the Pens, Richard Park is now out 4-6 weeks with a broken foot. And like that, three of our centers suddenly vanish from the lineup.

And I'm not melting down over Crosby. I honestly think he could just be experiencing general fatigue from playing the hard NHL schedule after a long time off and they're just being super cautious. It could be anything, but Crosby's tone during the conference wasn't the one of someone who thought his career was over. I'm hopeful this is just part of him getting back into the grind of a full season.

Sid was targeted. A bruin should know better too considering. SMH

Well yeah he's the best player on the team and they wanted to shut him down. There was not intent to injure just to get him off his game by getting under his skin.

Mission accomplished.

Are you suggesting the Bruins go easy on him because he's had an injury history. The b's can't be held accountable for a reoccurring injury.

Maybe we can find a way to pin the Kunitz collision on the Big Bad Bruins.

Wait, so even though there is no confirmation whatsoever, people are already assuming that Crosby is done? Is this because of how Lindros went out? Let's not start freaking out until it actually happens.

If he's done, I feel bad for him. He at least could be a spokesman for the game or something.

I was responding mostly to Crosby apparently saying it feels similar to how he felt last season, before missing almost 70 games or whatever. It doesn't sound too promising.

He'll be fine. Bettman will start up a no-contact WNHL just so Crosby has a place to play.

Not at all but it's scary when he can't take a simple bump like the Krejci hit. What happens when he really gets hit?

Terrible news about Crosby, but if that minor contact with Krejci is what caused the symptoms, maybe he should hang it up for his own good.

I think that's rather wishful thinking dude. Sid will miss at least a month of action.

Pens are testing some new protective gear as we speak.

Possibly, I mean at this point I wouldn't be surprised if he plays next week or if he never plays again. I just think that if they felt he had a concussion, they'd say so and he'd be put on IR. If he's just feeling "blah", it's quite likely they're just being incredibly cautious.

Yeah it's so hard to say with concussions. I guess the longer he's off the ice (and not at practice) then the worse it is.

Rumours that Tony Granato may be lined up to be the new Kings coach. :( Nooo. Pens need him to keep coaching the PK.

Why would ANYONE want Crapnato?! He was a great player but a lousy coach. He had a freakin stacked Avs team and couldn't coach his way out of a jock strap.

Giroux is apparently suffering from whiplash but who knows how accurate that is. I'm hoping that is the case cause it's such a joy to watch him play.

Roloson better not start another fucking game as a member of the Lightning.
Crazy turn around for him from last year, but he is damn old, I would have bet everything I own against the Panthers leading the SE division in the start of December.

"Whiplash" is what a team who doesn't want to say the "c" word calls a concussion. Reimer had "whiplash" too.

This is certainly possible. Likely even. However, Giroux did seem to be rubbing his neck a lot and Simmonds did seem to hit him there a bit. It could be one of those things where it's really painful to move your head around because your neck is sore that it gets stiff. Actually happened to me one time off a hit too, hurt like a bitch. Really hoping that's what happened here.
