COMICS! December |OT| Santa is a superheo, right?

In the beginning DC's sales pulled up the whole industry. If this falls back to normal levels and the other companies feel the crunch too, this whole comics thing is done.

Like I said before, being overly attached to the status quo was never more important than keeping the industry healthy. At least things are still up overall.

I wonder if Disney will keep slashing Marvel titles as we progress. So far DC has shown more commitment to lower end titles that I thought they would.

Slott's big Doc Ock and Sinister Six storyline kicks off in March.

I guess we'll see in another three months whether or not DC simply threw out thirty years of status quo for a six-month, short term gain.

Won't matter in the end if it fails. Say goodbye to monthly comics in a few short years. Thirty years of status quo will be the least of the issues.

That's why people celebrating the sales fall are shit in my eyes.

Yuck, who are those creeps?

Anyway, I don't think monthlies will die. Marvel continuity might. They can drum up these sorts of stunts enough to keep the blood pumping.

Actually, scratch that, comics won't die, but stores might.

If monthly comics die, then many dreams will die with it. I don't know if I want to live in that world brahs.

i dont feel like the comic medium itself will die, but the way comics are distributed currently is going to die... or at least be heavily changed

theres going to be a huge wake-up call soon for a lot of people in the industry

Is there any evidence that Disney is ordering those cuts? I thought it was all down to Marvel's execs being stingy and conservative.

Top 300 Comics for November 2011
Top 300 Graphic Novels for November 2011

In a nutshell: Johns/Lee are still king of the hill with Justice League, DC's "New 52" titles continue to slip (in some cases as much as 30%), Marvel inflates its numbers with promotions (Point One's doubled orders) or higher prices (again, Point One and FF#600), and overall the gap continues to close even more.

Frankenstein @ #76 makes me happy. Hoping it sticks around for awhile. LEAVE FRANKIE ALONE!!!

Was just about to order subs to Tiny Titans and Brave and the Bold as gifts. Glad I checked this thread.

Hrm.

So Uncanny X-Force was totally amazing right until
they revealed that Warren survived, and is now an amnesiac. They gave him a fitting farewell. He should've died.

That aside, Remender fucking NAILED it. And holy shit can we give it up for Opeña? Dude's a star. A complete and utter super-artist.

Also, that cover for the next issue by Rafael Grampa?

Gleeeeeee.

That said, can someone explain him to me?

Did Fantomex take the kid he shot and put him in the tube? Did he grow an Apocalypse himself? Halp!

He did not shoot the kid. He made an illusion to get away with not shooting the kid, and nurtured him into the right way very carefully.

If I'm remembering things correctly,
Fantomex saved the body and hid him in a growth-acceleration vat that healed his injuries and also turned him into a teenager. The VR machine raised him in Smalleville (complete with Ma and Pa Kent) to be Superman.

EDIT:
Ah! That's right! It was an illusion.

If UXF doesn't start winning Eisners then the comics industry has failed.

This is the best X-Men being written right now, and the best it's been since Whedon's Astonishing wrapped up.

But then how did Archangel become Apocalypse, if he never really died? Did the tube put him in stasis enough to not go Poccy?

My guess is that since he was being put on a different track, he was no longer the heir apparent to the role of Apcalypse.

NO FUCKING WAY!!

Did he ever explain that?!?!

HOW DID I NOT FIGURE THAT OUT?????

I got to that conclusion on my own though, so it might be false, lol :)
But it really was presented in a way that it was a natural conclusion for me to have - and for that, I LOVE UXF. Simply amazing.

Remember when Fantomex touched the kid's blood and closed his eyes near the end of issue #4? He used those blood samples to re-grow Kid Apocalypse, gave him a
Clark Kent origin story, and let him be a hero. The main thing I took from this story is that heroes can become villains, but villains can also become heroes. Kids can commit mass genocide, or they can help save the world. All they need is guidance.

I want a Hope/Genesis power couple. Messiahs of the X-universe. I can't imagine how well CABLE would take to that relationship though. Worst "Meet the Parents' day ever.

Ah, okay.

Only an omnibus can properly display the genius of Billy Tan!

:P

I'll tell you what, though. Dean White is giving Dave Stewart a run for his goddamn money. That's probably the best Tan I've ever seen thanks to the coloring.

Spoiler for Uncanny X-Force #19
Someone on another forum brought up the idea that redemption is the central theme of the book. Angel staying alive allows him to make amends for what he has done, plus I'm glad to see a storyline like this ending without a death. The scene with Angel and Psylocke growing up together was beautiful.

haha, Mags has the perfect "Okay :(" face there, this needs to be memed.

I keep hearing how awesome UXF is, should I start with vol 1 of the trades or is there any series that leads into it?

I haven't been buying single issues since August, mostly because I was paying $30+ monthly just for shipping. I was always a TPB guy, until I found these threads around a year ago.

Recently I realized that most ongoing stuff I was following back then is now available digitally, so I'll start making my weekly purchases that way.
I already got Blue Estate and Morning Glories...

But I'd like to ask for some recommendations for some on-going series (that are available on Comixology or Dark Horse app).

TLDR: Name your favourite on-going series that are available digitally.

I would say you're pretty good starting at Volume 1 of the current run, there are no overlapping stories from other titles.

man ....UXF is amazing,

Journey into Mystery
UXF
Punisher
DD
X-23/Black Panther (wave goodbye)
Thunderbolts
Moonknight
Venom
Secret Avengers
Spiderman

that right there are the best books marvel is putting out month to month and they are damn good

So.

I hold the opinion that Avengers: X-Sanction is a piece of shit.

Is there anyone willing to discuss the matter with me?
