NHL December |OT| The Team You Cheer For is Not Good Compared To Our Team

It seems like we could create a decent NHL team out of concussed players.

Staal needs to step it up with Skinner and lead the team by example. Not by having the worst +/-

Don't know if the team would meet cap requirements, but yea. The thing is though you have to assume the big name players are the ones most likely to get concussions. They're going to be playing way more minutes against bigger hitters.

Also, some of these concussions really can't be fixed without equipment changes. Giroux got hit by his own guy and Progner got a puck to the face for example.

I think Kessel and Kesler are BFFs

Ville Leino out "for weeks" with a lower body injury. Just as he seemed to find some success and linemates that clicked.

So Sabres back up to 7 injured players... Though Kaleta will probably be playing Friday.

Recently I've started going out to a basketball court near my new apartment with rollerblades and just shooting a ball around. It's not the same though...
I'm in DC, so the rinks are kind of pain in the ass to get to without a car, and keeping smelly equipment in a small apartment just sucks all around.
Yeah.. that sucks :(. Has ball/roller hockey ever interested you? Maybe some random rec center close enough offers something :(
Its even better being out on an outdoor rink really early in the morning
No doubt. I'd love to be able to do that one day.

Vancouver/Chicago - One of the best current rivalries in the NHL, it's too bad these teams will meet much less often starting next year. As a Canucks fan the only thing that would make me hate this team more is if they didn't have Toews.

TSN said:
Making an appearance on WGN Radio in Chicago, Bolland occasionally referred to the Sedins as "sisters."

When asked if they would still be sisters if they became members of the Blackhawks, Bolland's answer was blunt.

"Well, they'll never become Hawks," he said. "I don't think we'd let them on our team. We'd be sure not to let them on our team. And, yeah, they probably still would be sisters. I think they might sleep in bunk beds. The older one has the bottom one, the younger one got the top."

While the morning show was very much tongue-in-cheek, Bolland, along with teammate Corey Crawford, didn't shy away from the opportunity to rip the Canucks.

"I hate all of them," Bolland said when asked if he hates everyone on the team or just a lot of them.

When asked what players do with their spare time when on the road, the Blackhawks forward said he tries to stay close to his hotel room when the team is in Vancouver.

"There's a lot of weirdos there," he said. "You don't want to be out there too long."

I like this comment in that article:

The Sedins are true professionals and stand up individuals. They will shrug these comments off with a laugh. They know who they are. They are men. Men don't spout off like this. Boys do. Men don't use words to get under an opponents skin. Boys do. Men use actions. Actions speak much louder. Im sure Hawk management does NOT endorse the old adage of throwing rocks at the wasp nest.

It's actually kind of disgusting the hate the Sedins get. They are the nicest people out there. They've given more to charity than any other of the top players in the NHL.

So now players on rival teams can't trash talk? Their comments were pretty funny. I mean I don't know if I'd call it "unprofessional" when your profession is hockey player. It's part of the fun of the game. Sedins should give an interview about how they'll make sure to give Bolland a few jabs in good fun at the all-sta... o wait nevermind.

Wow, you left out the best part of the article:

Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault responded to Bolland's comments following Wednesday's morning skate.

"Dave Bolland has an IQ the size of bird seed and a face only a mother can love."
bahahaha

Is this for real or just another hallucination? Serious question because I don't know how you quantify that. Some athletes don't want recognition when they make these kinds of donations, so where are you getting your information from? That player on Locomotiv who was quietly (the kids parents didn't even know where the money was coming from) donating money to a cancer patient in Russia comes to mind.

I don't know if I've ever heard either Sedin talk shit about another player, they should just get Bieksa to pick up for them.

lmao! I swear that was added after I first quoted the article or else I would have included it.

Double posting..

While I'm double posting, if anyone has a couple extra tickets for the Canada/US new years eve game let me know =)

Because it's extremely hard to hide a $1.5 million dollar charity gift.

Difficult to confirm for sure. But I'd be surprised if many (any) NHLers have topped this: Canucks' Sedins donate $1.5m to hospital. Not to mention their other donations.

Verb phrase
29.
class up, Informal . to improve the quality, tone, or status of; add elegance, dignity, style, etc., to: The Sedins really class up this locker room.

I like trash talking as much as anybody, when it's by players that actually deserve to trash talk, but I also like the truly best players to go the classy route instead. Someone like GSP or Peyton/Eli Manning takes a lot before he trash talks and even then their trash talk is classy. Same with the Sedins.

By your logic then, Vigneault has undone all class considering his own (awesome) comments on Bolland.

Just be quiet. For once. Please. It's fucking hockey. Trash talk is part of the game, no matter what the source.

The Sedins asked for it to remain quiet, but the hospital went to the media regardess. (probably more because they had a larger goal and thought the Sedins donation would encourage other people to do the same)

The Sedins didn't trash talk, and no it's not a part of the game. That's like saying everyone should act like Ochicinco, TO and Suh in football. Just cause some players act like that, doesn't mean the rest need to.

I will also never be quiet, you be quiet :p

Ok that makes more sense, but I was going to say there are ways that you can make something like that anonymous to just about everyone if that's a really big priority.

FUUUUUUCK Fuck Fuck. Team is going to look like shit all of December at this rate. Fuck.

Suprisingly not as empty as I would have thought. The Canucks fans didn't travel there for sure. I also saw a Vancouver fan get pelted with food, so that was..yeah.

Looked a little less than 50% capacity.

Yeah, I'm always surprised how full that place is when I go. The people really want to love the Jackets, but it's hard to support a team that loses that much, though.

Ducks play today. Bruce finally had the Ducks for more that one day of practice. We'll see what happens...

EDIT: Back to back days of practice

It's obvious that both WSH and ANA problems weren't coaching... I think the problems with ANA are:

- Cam Fowler is not Neidermayer 2.0
- Perry + Getzlaf turn on the juice if they feel like it, much like Spezza + Heatley back in the day
- Hiller is not going to be as good as we was before, that was a fluke season.
- Injuries to people like Visnovsky (who's good but won't repeat the same kind of year as last year which was more due to Perry + Getzlaf)

The problem is their window for success is going to disappear in 2 years when Teemu is finally done and Getzlaf/Perry will require $7 million or more contracts.
