Invasion! Squid Girl: An endearing classic that takes an intellectual but accommodating look into the socioeconomic factors surrounding the erosion of environmentalist ideals in developing countries like Japan by following the life and struggles of one of Earth's most enduring and capable denizens of the natural world.

should have been a whale maybe
and then greenpeace could be the creepy stalker girl

kaiji: a modern day allegory for class warfare told through the eye's of a man's struggle against the decadent and oppressive bourgeois and their debt ridden society #occupyfukumoto

I still watch everything and have low standards.
It is the best way to enjoy anime.

No, that's the best way to enjoy 'anything'. To have a deep, cultured understanding of anything you need taste and standards, so that you can separate the average from bad, the excellent from the good and so forth.

Without being able to tell why works are better than each other you can't detect why The Wire is different from Law and Order and are therefore missing out on the ability to refine your tastes.

Strike Witches: A sobering look at a war torn and poverty stricken future Japan where the country is beset by war and famine so much so that little girls are unable to purchase pants. Truly the anime of our generation.

Yeah but, that's what the show is actually about! It's not even subtle about it!

Glad you've staked your claim as the hipster.

cajunator keep being yourself. You're the best kind of anime fan.

Alternate dimension Europe would be more accurate.

But mindless enjoyment is the bland foothill that all anime
suki
fanboys strive for with mediocre effort.

Man, what's with all the recent Shinkai hating? Is it because of the recent Hoshi o Ou Kodomo disc release?

All his movies were the same, so people accused him of falling into an easy pattern and never challenging himself artistically or as a director. He tried to do something different, but as he's not really very well versed in making a different kind of movie, it had a few flaws.

I, however, still see it as a very good sign that he's trying to tell a different kind of story, even if it's going to take him a bit of practice.

All I knew about Digimon was that it was the shit the weird kid in class watched while the rest of us played pokemon in elementary school.

Monster Rancher was the real deal with Holly and Pixie

Everyone with taste always knew Digimon had a better narrative than Pokemon.

You mean it actually had a narrative with a beginning, some minor character stuff and an actual ending? That would certainly count as superior, even if besting the narrative of Pokemon is hardly a feat worth singing about.
Is that what happened? I never really watched past the first season.

Matt also went to Mars. True story.

I vaguely remember disliking the dumb 80s segments of Robot Carnival, but I do distinctly remember the cloud pornography short being my favorite and thinking how much more I liked it than any of Shinkai's efforts in the field of gratuitous cloud porn. So I can't really agree or disagree.

Were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?

For the record, I believe that Presence is the finest segment of Robot Carnvial because it's a twisted journey into the mind of an otaku.

When he grew up that kid spent his days on the digiclipse forum waiting for THE EVENT because living in the non-digital world was too mainstream. Today, after GAF destroyed digiclipse, he is living on the street his only possession hid digivice which he hold tight to his chest on those cold winter nights waiting for the day his digimon will come and take him away.

Tai has Davis or whatever he's called in glorious nihongo.

All the males were beta.

Except TK and Izzy.

And later, Henry.
