if you want to go get the machine with the early birds, yes, you have to get in the line with the FILTHY UNPREPARED MASSES who didn't bother to preorder.
I'll be wandering the streets of Tokyo again as per with Monster Hunter and this time i'll make sure i take more photos and not leave places which have 40 people but then apparently end up with 300 in the following 10 minutes as per MH launch - doh.
For preorders at Yodobashi i got there around 2am and the queue was at about 140 people, there were about 600 people by the time me, jonnyram, chinchilla, johntv had ordered up.
also - flying gets on hardware are pretty uncommon but there is a couple of places that -will- break street date if they have stock tomorrow.
Congratulations, dcengine! You're the first person in the world to share pics of his Vita on Twitter. May the Vita be as memorable as the two systems that form your name.
Probably next week, as it's the only logical course of action. Those Famitsu score were fake then. Shame. I wonder when Famitsu will review the launch games. Seems odd it has waited.
Sony Corp. (6758), the worlds second- largest video-game console maker, said it sold out the new PlayStation Vita portable player in pre-ordering in Japan.
There were lines to make reservations for the machine at retailers, Andrew House, chief executive officer of Sony Computer Entertainment, told reporters in Tokyo today. He declined to provide the number of orders.
Enthusiasm for the new machine among gamers could lead to some shortages at first, House said. But he said Sony can handle the expected load.
Im pretty confident ... that there will not be major challenges in meeting demand, even though there may be short-term, House said.
Q: What challenges and opportunities do you see for Sony in 2012?
A: Japan is by far the strongest PlayStation Portable market, which we think gives us a huge leg up in launching this new platform. PSP really has been the developers' platform of choice, if you think about franchises like Monster Hunter. We are launching with 24 games. The strength of that lineup across a broad variety of genres, I think, bodes extremely well for a successful launch.
There's a 3G model first edition bundle in Japan, which includes a prepaid card for 20 hours.Don't think you got anything in Japan. Nor in the US, unless you count a chance at getting the first edition bundle, which will be available a week early.
Sony sez Vita 'sold out' on pre-orders, but shouldn't see shortages past the short term.

Of course, what does that mean exactly? Sold out of preorder allocation, or sold out their day one allocation full stop with preorders?

Has azalyn or other have given any estimate of allocation numbers for PSV?Sony sez Vita 'sold out' on pre-orders, but shouldn't see shortages past the short term.

What about Famitsu, how many it expects PSV to be sold in 2011.?
Just wandering if that pre-order number is average, large or huge.
average = 75k - 125k
large is = 125k - 200k
huge is = anything above 200k
We're talking about "possible-huge", not "new monster hunter-huge".200k is hardly huge. Huge is like 500k+.

Honestly, this could mean 50 or 5000. Once again Sony PR is nothing without numbers.
Japan GAF: What do you think about Sony's vita advertising in Japan?

I personally think is awful, but since it has japanese celeb in it, I guess is ok for japanese people.
Saw the two CMs 20 minutes ago in the TV (the Dynasty Warriors crazy kid and the Uncharted girl) and they were so-so, compared to Nintendo Mario commercials. The Minna no Golf one, where there are two guys standing on a huge screen also wasn't really good...Japan GAF: What do you think about Sony's vita advertising in Japan?

Whether you think it's awful or not it's how they do things. Some things baffle but work there.

Just out of pure curiosity I'll ask my Japanese friends what they think about the Sony campaign. Some of them have PSPs/PS3s some are totally unrelated to gaming so I think the results might answer the question "does it really work here?".yeah I know.

Been watching Japanese TV for hours every day for the last month and I haven't seen any of these people, as opposed to the ones who were showing Vita during the campaign events.I dunno those ad works but It's kinda the standard in Japan.
the celeb pictured in the ad is almost always more in focus than the actual products.
I personally dont like it and somebody have more elegant solutions (like apple)

Tokyo, Asahichou. But I'm talking about the people in those ads, not the ads themselves. Although to be honest I didn't notice any of them in and during my way to Roppongi/Shinjuku this weekend.Where do you live? JR lines and stations in Tokyo are full of vita ads
Any importers get their Vitas shipped out yet? Play-Asia still says "preparing order" for me.
I rember reading about this during the PS2 release, is it common thing in this kind of situations? The stores were limiting people to one unit, though.

I really do want to import... are you shipping it to the States? Is it crazy expensive?
Yes and yes. A little more than double the price if I were to wait. But this is my holiday present to myself so I don't care.![]()
Explain, please. I've got all the features explained by the event guy and I couldn't find absolutely anything interesting about this "game".I'm kinda pumped for monster radar

Fair enough. ;dIt's just because I love this AR/Augmented reality stuff.
Should be nerdy fun checking your vita and finding shit all over town. Plus I dig the syle and the game is dirty cheap so why not.
You can order them on Amazon Japan at the moment. Stock seems to be okay.
