God I want one. Like, right now plz.

Wow.

Beautiful picture. *tear

So no trophies on used games huh. What it says there is that trophies are tied to a first PSN account that plays the game. It's a pretty simple concept, really.

Ummm, sorry to ask but do we have it confirmed that the front is really just simple plastic?
Frankly, I think it has to be. Making such complex plate with holes and shapes, out of glass, would be unfeasible.

Aeana pointed me to this:

If you buy a card used, you can reset it to factory settings which will erase any save data, and then you can earn trophies on a new ID / machine.

This makes sense now I think about it, because if one guy unlocks a bunch of trophies, and then saves a game, it would be too easy for another ID to unlock trophies if there wasn't some kind of checking mechanism in place.

Question about the memory cards;

If I had, say a 32gb and a 16gb and I wanted to use them both (32 for Vita games, 16gb for psp/ps1 etc), and they both used the same PSN account, would it allow me?

Yes.

(To the best of my knowledge anyway. But with the way memory card info has been maybe you'll want to wait for someone to confirm in the next day or so :P)

I'm so intrigued with the Vita and think it looks like a great little device. I'm completely turned off by the reports of awful battery life though. I'll wait to hear full reports after people have them in their hands, but a few hours of battery life is kind of a deal breaker for me. :(

Also, I still think the device looks ugly as fuck. What the fuck were Sony thinking with this "super oval" shit? It's too round.

Looks like you are in the minority. No scratch that, super tiny % of the population(who knows Vita) that doesn't like its design.

:P

yes if anything sony got right, its the design.
vita looks so sexy. But a bit fragile looking, hope that it can withstand damage like my psp 1000.

For some moments I was almost glad that the used games would not be able to earn trophies. That would devalue the used games to a very desirable point for someone like me that doesn't care for trophies. It would be stupid though if it was true for the general user. We need some Sony PR to clarify this though... or maybe not! hehehehe

Wonder what's the size of the sandwich that we'll have to eat?

I wouldn't know about that. Personally I think Vita is as bad looking as the original PSP. Not that the later models were much of an improvement... Sony should've tried something completely new, like having pointier edges for starters. Could their avoidance be due to Nintendo having used rectangles all the way from the golden ages of Game & Watch?

Naturally it's the games that matter though.

It's gorgeous in person

That you can use remote play just by being connected to the Internet, you don't have to be near the PS3.

Is there a way to turn PS3 on/off via Vita? Because with the way modern electronic equipment breaks, keeping PS3 turned on the whole day just to play a bit of Vita outside sounds like an overkill.

I heard the FW upgrades were quite smaller for the Vita. But it would be nice if someone can confirm.

And oh, that pic. Arggh... why do we have to wait? :(

I leave my launch PS3 & slim 360 on all day if I'm not at work. Just a habit. Haven't had a single problem yet.

Damn I want one, Vita look like designed by myself or nerd. Got everything features I want. Thanks god, it didn't gimpy anything because of the market.
This device is made for pure hardcore gamers. THANK YOU BASED SONY!!

Now hoping firmware and software will improve a lot in the future. Especially more AAA budget games and less 99p Apps please.

PS3 has a standby mode where it's still connected to the internet and so can be turned on via remote play. Or it can be via PSP anyway, i assume it's the same for Vita

I don't think you have to. There's a wake-on-lan type function in PS3 so when you remote-play in to it it turns itself on, and then turns itself off when you're done. IIRC.

edit - beaten.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Never played with PS3/PSP like that, so it will be great to try it with Vita.

Yeah but you're not really turning it on and off. You're turning on and into remote play standby mode.

I would love to take advantage of this feature but the state the PS3 has to be left in to take advantage of remote play is too "on" for my liking.

about to head out to see what's going on - not sure i can be arsed doing my usual 18km hike to akihabara so might just loiter around some other places

only 4hr 30 to go - wibble. I've already lost wallet control and i know it
